Finally.
HWT80AW1 (8kg)Finally a washing machine that is quiet and works like a dream
Purchased in at Wholesale Appliances for $689.
- Dryer Type: Electrolux EDV505 / EDV605
Average operation
HWT80AW1 (8kg)Comparing new Haier to a year 2000 Hoover upright washing machine which it replaces.
First the not so good -
- Doesn't rinse clothes well and leaves them soapy. I believe this is because the machine doesn't spin after the main wash cycle to extract the soapy water (unlike the old Hoover). It simply fills up with fresh water (which mixes with the soapy clothes) before entering the final spin. Haier need to improve this aspect which wouldn't be hard.
- Clothes are left with white streaks especially dark materials.
- Doesn't spin the clothes well
Purchased in for $600.
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!!!!!!
HWT80AW1 (8kg)When you wash dark coloured clothes there is always a white scum left on them and they have to be washed a second or third time. The automatic balance doesn’t work. It can take more than 3 hours to wash a load of clothes because it keeps going through the rinse cycle over and over again.

Absolutely shocking!
HWT60AW1 (6kg)I am in a hotel in Brisbane and, unfortunately, this is the washer I have to use.
I have never liked top loaders, in my opinion the wash quality in them is much poorer that a front loader and they really don't spin as well. In addition, it seems that they may use far more water.
BUT, the absolutely WORST feature of this machine is that there is NO DETERGENT DRAWER!
So, do I really have to pour detergent directly onto my clothes?
Do I really have to wait around for a ping so that I know when fabric softener must be added?
Wasn't the whole point of 'automatic' washers that you could go away and leave them?
So much technology in the world! Why are this company going backwards?

Cheap and capable washer
HWT60AW1 (6kg)I am very satisfied with the product so far. There is no fancy features or settings but that is all I need. Also comes with 2 year warranty. I don't think there is a better washer at this price point.

It's ok
HWT80AW1 (8kg)Good points -
Big enough to wash a king doona.
Fairly quiet.
Doesn't seem to have affected the water bill too much.
Has an express cycle starting at 30 minutes but only for a small wash and even then I think it's actually more than 30min.
Spin is very good.
Doesn't seem to be drawing power when the cycle stops. No lights are on.
It's a top loader which is better for me as a long term ease of access.
Bad points -
You can't see how deep the water fills unless you stand around and wait for it and then unlock the machine. I understood it's a safety measure. But the instructions should explain average litres and I can't see that they do.

Okay small washer
HWT60AW1 (6kg)Works okay. Had to replace both hot and cold hoses because they were leaking, bad seals.

Flimsy power button.
HWT70AW1 (7kg)After picking up one of these, the 7kg model up from a free to good home ad, it had the same power on issue, as mentioned by a few here. It must be a common issue with the powering up. The cause is a flimsy power button. The plastic swirl under the power button that pushes it back up, breaks off after a while, as that was the case on inpection, and when you press it, the plastic piece under the button misses the power button on the circuit board, thus not powering on. It can be easily fixed with hot glue but who knows how long it'll last. It now works.

129 volts, washer lid is live. Have to discard machine. Otherwise, we loved it.
HWT60AW1 (6kg)3yrs and five months old. Sterling performance. But got a tingle from lid so ran multimeter over it. 20 to 30 volts ac. But when closing lid it suddenly jumped to 129 volts. Checked my neutral to earth household circuit in case that was the problem but it was fine, under one volt. By the way all the reviews about this little machine underperforming were wrong. But cannot overlook this dangerous fault.

Completely dead
HWT80AW1 (8kg)Doesn't turn on. Stopped working and the screen doesn't light up when plugged in. Completely unreliable. Washed ok when it was working but somehow melted the detergent dispenser so it was really difficult to remove and refill.
Purchased for $950.
The worst washing machine you can buy
HWT70AW1 (7kg)If you want a washing machine that washes terribly then this is the one for you! It also lies to you too, you select a 45 minute wash and you can guarantee that 1.5 hours later it’s still cleaning away! That along with the water in the bottom that can never be removed that turns to a stale gross smell then you’ve got yourself one of the worst washing machines going! You’ll have to wash heavily soiled clothes twice and they’ll always come out smelling the same since you can’t actually add fabric softener as the rinse cycle has about 10 water changes so nothing ever smells nice

Small size, big performer.
HWT60AW1 (6kg)This model is a smallish washing machine but it punches above its weight. Great features including small, medium, large or max wash loads (saving water), the timing is good although the "max' setting does take an hour so I have not used that one yet. From heavy jeans to very light fabrics clothes come out clean, if a bit wrinkled, the only drawbacks are, 1) there is no softener dispenser, a bell alarm alerts you to the last cycle and you need to interrupt the cycle to add it to the last rinse and, 2) you have to flick through the 4 water se
... Read morettings to ensure the "medium" level of water registers, otherwise the machine starts to agitate without filling, no problem one you know. All in all I am very happy with this machine, a value price, made by Fisher and Paykel so if any service is needed there is a large company behind you.Purchased in at The Good Guys.

4 Years Old And Still Going Strong
HWT60AW1 (6kg)This has been just the perfect little washing machine, 4 years old and still runs just like the day i first bought it, It does about 3 to 4 washes a week and it's never become unbalanced like some other reviews say, even with 6 full size bath towel it doesn't struggle at all. It doesn't have a fabric softener dispenser but that doesn't bother me, i just use a laundry detergent with built in fabric softener. The only negative about this machine is the automatic water level system is pretty useless, it never sets it any higher then medium, even w
... Read moreith the 6 full size bath towels it still thinks it only needs medium water level, so i just manually set it to maximum water level, no big deal i just have to press one more button before i start it. I've just had it serviced and the only sign of wear was the main drive belt becoming slightly stretched, a new drive belt every 4 years is more then acceptable for me. If your after a non frills washing machine that just washes clothes i can't recommend this machine highly enough. One very happy customer.Purchased at The Good Guys for $450.
Bought new machine disappointed with spin cycle
HWT70AW1 (7kg)Last washing machine was a Fisher & Paykel Good machine, till bearings shot Couldn,t be serviced.
Bought a Haier. Started washing all our clothes together. Found it could,nt handle heavy towels very well.
Cleaned clothes OK, but machine could not SPIN DRY washes that including a heavy towel, even on SPIN level 9.
Light clothes eg T shirts etc finished that wet we had to wring them out by hand. NOT SATISFACTORY.
Seviceman was not a lot of help
Now only washing small loads that spin out reasonably well.

Horrible Machine! Avoid!
HWT60AW1 (6kg)Without fail, whenever we put 2 towels into this machine to wash it always goes off balance when it'd be completely fine if it was another brand. We're at the point of washing 1 towel at a time because of how frequently it's going off balance now.
It's also really noisy which isn't good! There's no fabric conditioner slot so if you use it you're better off going for another brand.
We purchased this as it would fit into our very small laundry, but honestly it's not even worth the money we paid for it! Super disappointing!
