Currently heading into week three and have been told one part is still on back order from Actron. So I’m thinking we will go a month in this heat without any aircon for a four year old system still under warranty! Obviously far from pleased. Show details

Follow-up  · Four weeks in total to get a part from Actron. One month of hot weather and a continual need to chase things up. I suppose the Australian made thing should not be taken on face value. I can get car parts from the states in ten days. Not sure where this part was coming from.

Brand new system failed in weeks. No urgency from Actron. Moved into a new townhouse with a brand new Actron Air system. It failed within a couple of weeks and is now showing an E51 fault code (system shutdown) — during 32–35°C days on the Central Coast. Local tech took two days to attend, then said it had to be referred to head office. Head… Read more

office emailed saying they’d call in four days. I rang, was promised a call the same day. No one ever called.

So I’m stuck in extreme heat with a broken new system and no timeline, no follow-up, and no urgency.

Very disappointing for a “premium” brand. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Great system and will replace with another – Our Actron ducted heating and cooling system caught fire last night. This system was 20 years old and never missed a beat. It was regularly serviced and looked after. We will be definitely be replacing it with another Actron. I love that it is Aussie made too. Fast forward a year- our new Actron system hasn’t missed a beat. I love the app feature, easy to use control panel and the zoning for each room. Highly recommended system. Show 2 replies

Premium system performance when it works — but unacceptable reliability breaking on first hot 40 degree days and WA support I’ve now had two Actron Advance 17kW systems installed at my Perth home. When they work, they are genuinely excellent: • Powerful cooling suitable for WA heat • Neo control system is fantastic • Per-room zoning and… Read more

remote control are best-in-class

However, the reliability and after-sales support in Western Australia are a serious concern, especially given the premium price.

First unit: Failed repeatedly (around six separate faults) and was eventually replaced entirely. I accepted this as a possible dud and continued to invest in Actron as thought I had bad luck on reliability.

Second unit: Installed February 2025 at a cost of ~$20,000. Failed with an E15 error on Christmas Day, during a heatwave, while hosting family visiting from the UK. We all had to move to airbnb for remainder of Xmas and new year which was embarrassing!

While I understand reduced staffing over Christmas/New Year, I was advised: • It may take up to two weeks just to be booked with a subcontractor • Rectification could be weeks after that, potentially leaving us without cooling for a month in 40°C conditions

For a system marketed as premium and designed for Australian conditions, this is simply not acceptable.

The bigger issue is that Actron does not appear to have adequate dedicated warranty support in WA, particularly during critical summer periods. If I had known this upfront, I would have chosen Daikin or Panasonic, even if it meant sacrificing some features.

Bottom line: Outstanding system when it works, but after seven major failures across two units, I have lost confidence in long-term reliability and support. Buyers in WA should think very carefully about reliability and warranty response times before committing at this price point.

temperature for every room. It was commissioned in 2018. Cannot program to run at desired temperature and lots of error. Year 2022, It gives me lots of error and shutting downs. I rang Actron about the issues and sent a technician and found no problem. When discussing the issues to senior technician we found the equipment was not programmed at all. With his help, we managed to programmed it. Communication errors still shows every now and the on the main controller, but I can use variable temperature. The reason why I chose this model. February 2025 the breaker in the outside unit trip off. I turned on, but trip off again. Since I lost my trust to the previous technicians, I seek helped from independent technician. When he turn on the breaker, after few minutes, the board started to smoke, after that the PWM smoke also. We found also, not enough gas. Tried finding out the leak, but could not find. Suspected of leak between the cavity and recommended to replace the who trunking system to eliminate leak. Too costly to replace it and no guarantee it will fix the issue. I started writing on this site to seek help from others with the same model & series. I was surprise when Chris Sampson from Actron rang me and trying to find out the issues and offered help. He sent Raj to find out the issues of gas leak. He found and booked for replacement of pressure width modulation valve. Matt came this morning and I watched the whole process of replacing the PWM valve. He worked confident and the workmanship is so professional. He simply showed, how professional work. I wished we have this kind of Technicians before. Both worked courteous and efficient. I’ll give them 10 out 10. To Chris, thank you very much for your help ensuring every customer is happy with your equipment and service. You showed your sincere dedication and professionalism. At last my aircon is working again. No more sleeping downstairs with all my windows and doors open. Our trust is back again to Actron. Thank very much to the whole team.

We had an Actron ducted air conditioner from when they first came out in the early 1990s. It was a fantastic unit—excitingly icy cold in the summer, even on 40-degree days. I remember it had a range down to 15 degrees, and it truly delivered on that promise. Then, about 20 years later, we moved to a new house in 2017. The previous owners had… Read more

installed a small, fairly useless Actron unit—a classic case of being penny-wise and pound-foolish. We had it removed and installed a new, larger ducted unit with double the size and horsepower in 2019. I always like to have the best and get more capacity than we need, so I expected its heating and cooling to be even better than our old Actron.

But it was better than the small actron for heating, but useless for cooling. In fact, on hot days like 35-40 degrees, it just does not work at all. It just blows air like air from the basement. mildly cooler than the heat of the day. For example, on a 40-degree day, where our older Actron would get down to 15 degrees, the new Actron on a 40-degree day doesn't get any cooler than 30 degrees!

Now it's 2025, and I can honestly say that, as far as air conditioners go, we would have been better off with a couple of large window units. In fact, this house had a Westinghouse in-wall air conditioner, which I covered up—what a mistake that was! Sure, they're ugly, but they work!

The newer ten-year-old Actron, however, borders on useless. We had technicians out numerous times in the first 4 years who told us that although the unit says it cools to 16 degrees, it never goes past 18. In the end, I gave up and resigned myself to living with this monstrous doorstop. In fact it rarely goes lower than 20 degrees on a warmish day. You need a unit that cools more than 18 to work against heat.

The only thing it's moderately good for is heating, but even then, when set to one temperature, it fluctuates from intensely hot to cool.

I can honestly say it's the worst air conditioner I've ever used, and the $8,000 price tag in 2019 at the time makes it a complete rip-off. If you can get hold of one from the 1990s, it will work, but the recent models are just useless. I wouldn't touch another one with a barge pole

Initially called over my ducted A/C - heating blowing cold air on the 6th of June, requested that it be treated as "urgent" (which they agreed to), as the previous morning had been -4 degrees with more frosts on the way. Received a generic email 9 June stating service person would contact me in two to four days to make appointment. Received call… Read more

from service rep in the area the day after advising he had just landed in the Gold Coast for a week (no shade on him, but why is he their only tech?). I send an email to Actron asking for update 17 June but received no response (no surprise as customer service is super-low priority). Tech arrived 19 June (early morning) and took five seconds to diagnose "soft starter needs replacing again" (last replaced under warranty August 2023, so not even two years old), and he orders another while on site. The unit really struggles if the outdoor temp is below 7-8 degrees so no surprise the starters die (which is another issue - they know they are garbage starters but have done nothing about them-do a Google search if you don't believe me). I call the tech Wednesday 25 June , "part not here yet", so call Actron to see where TF it is. Initially told can't supply tracking details but it's on route from "Sydney to QLD" This surprises me somewhat as both Actron and myself are in Victoria???? Customer service then 'checks again' and tells me, no no, it's on it's way to the tech in Victoria...but again.... can't provide any tracking details - again surprising, as all parcels sent now have tracking. Check with tech this morning (it's now exactly four weeks since they were addressing my URGENT WARRANTY call - no, part has not arrived. Check again this arvo, still no part. So far it's been one week (and today is Friday) to 'urgently' send a part to their tech 100km away and we've had around 8-9 frosts since it stopped working with a week of 1 degree mornings forecast to look forward to this week. I bet Actron are hanging out for my warranty to expire so they want have to put up with my crap and can just bill me the cost of the starter ($650+) and the service call out. "Ring ring, is this Consumer Affairs?"

We all want to buy Australian made, but this company REALLY needs to work on their warranty / customer service before they fall by the wayside. The 2.6 star rating seems a bit generous in my opinion.

told us that they were told by actron they could install it with a ‘bpress’ fitting but are now finding they are having to repair the installation as lots are having the same fault and leaking refrigerant (into our roof I might add), they fixed this. Then come this April (2025) it is back to only blowing out room temp air - got a recommendation for a refridgeration plumber this time as was sick of being messed around and figured would be told by actron it wasn’t their problem as if their technician comes out and finds out it’s not their problem you have to pay and then find someone else to repair. This time the ‘soft starter’ was faulty so payed $1330for this to be fixed and tried to claim back from actron and was told as I didn’t use their technician that they would not refund it, asked if they could just refund the soft starter unit given it was $800 and the plumber had to wait to get it supplied from actron but they refused and said if I wanted that I had to contact the plumber I used who could request a reimbursement on their end to go to them but could not give it to me even with the invoice proof. So all in all $5000 extra for this unit in our build and $2700 later only 4 years down the line. Will say I will never recommend them and will be very much advocating for friends and family and everyone to steer clear.

I was initially surprised by the number of negative reviews and the low rating, but now I completely understand why. I purchased an ActronAir reverse-cycle air conditioning system less than three years ago. Last week, my tenant informed me that the system was displaying an error message and not blowing cold air. I contacted ActronAir immediately,… Read more

and they assured me I would receive an email with details of a technician visit. After four days without any email, I called them again, only to be told they were extremely busy and that it would take time. After multiple follow-ups, they finally scheduled a technician—eight days later!

I explained that my tenant was frustrated due to the ongoing heatwave (30°C+ temperatures) and might claim compensation, but this did not seem to concern them at all. It's unacceptable that a system barely two years old would fail, and even more frustrating that it takes nearly two weeks just to get someone to inspect it.

To make matters worse, the customer service experience was appalling. The representative I spoke to (Katrina) was unhelpful, dismissive, and at times, outright rude. She showed little understanding of customer service, and at one point, I noticed she wasn’t even listening—turning the phone away so she couldn’t hear me.

This level of service is completely unacceptable. ActronAir needs to seriously improve both the reliability of its products and the responsiveness of its customer support.

Seriously don’t waste your money, or ongoing grief. Today was hot outside, lowest the unit got was 27 degrees. And no doubt that is only because I now have 2 portables running, in a very small dwelling. Portables work really well in comparison.
