driver and his phone went to message bank. I left a text message and got no reply. I called the office and no one picked up. About half an hour later the office lady (mistakenly) called me back saying she had a missed call from my number, I asked where the truck was and she said she would find out, she never called me back. At 12:45, the driver called me to let me know HE WAS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg I have settlement scheduled for an hour away and a house full of furniture. If you have any idea what I had to do next you will NEVER EVER TRUST THIS COMPANY PLEASE. ABSOLUTE IMBECILES. This exercise cost me dearly, extra bank charges, delayed settlement, MY DEPOSIT HAS NOT BEEN REFUNDED. NOT WORTH THE RISK. I AM NOT AN OVERSEAS SCAMMER IF THEY TRY TO TO TELL YOU I AM THEY ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH. I AM A BRISBANE RESIDENT. I will be taking further action to recover some losses. Affordable Movers Brisbane – I organised Affordable Movers Brisbane to help move my daughter from a very challenging home share situation. Tracey was amazing in organising everything and our removalists were so supportive and helpful and really looked after my daughter! I could not have picked a better removalist. Very grateful.

told me that he was now doing the job – when I asked about the previous person he said that she had been fired after 3 days as she was not suitable for the job. Encouraged by that, I proceeded to discuss my moving job, accepted the quotation, and paid the deposit. The company’s policy is to send a formal document which I was required to return to them with my written acceptance. Their system required a moving date to be inserted, although it was clearly stated by me and acknowledge by them that it was not a confirmed date, that it would be later, and that I would advise at the earliest possible. But on the day prior to the inserted date, I got a text from them asking what time they should come the following day. That was sorted, then I requested a date, and the same procedure was required, whereby I confirmed my acceptance in writing. Two days before the date, I received this text: “Hey, we have unfortunately under quoted you. We can refund the deposit or the price will be $xx + gst” It was $500 higher than my quote. I called the person I had dealt with, he knew nothing about it but after checking he confirmed that the first quote was wrong and that I could cancel or pay more. I had to accept as it wasn’t possible to get the job done by another company at such short notice, but I did say that it was unprofessional. The guy did not accept responsibility, saying that the incorrect quote had been calculated by the person they fired, not by him. I said that he had emailed it to me with his name on it, and that the responsibility laid within the company. When I said that they should email a fresh quote for me to confirm as I didn’t think the text message beginning with Hey was appropriate, he said something to the effect of he was sorry if I expected something gilt-edged, but that was how it was. I was not happy, but pushed it all aside. However, it didn’t end there. On moving day when the estimated arrival window had almost gone I called to ask for an ETA. Another horrible run-around followed with people texting different people and numbers for me to call, people who never called me back, and the upshot was that they did not have my job booked in, their drivers were on other jobs, and I was asked if it could be done the following day. Other things had been lined up like cleaners, pest control, power cut-off etc, and my cat had already been sedated for the road trip I had to make that day, so I said no. Begrudgingly, someone eventually came, it was so late in the day that I needed to leave before they got there due to heavy rain that day and someone waiting for me at the other end, so I had to ask a friend to be there for the movers. So many people were put out, and by then I was highly stressed. To be fair, the 2 guys who did the job were good, and everything was moved without incident, even though it was late in the evening before it was all over. My experience with Affordable Movers is that they are unprofessional, unreliable and rude. As if that’s not enough, they also arrogantly defended their own mistakes and tried to make me feel as though I was being unreasonable for requesting the changed contract to be via email, which is their own policy anyway. Never again! My advice is to find a moving company that actually helps with what is already a stressful time rather than adds heaps more stress to it!
