The unit seems to be made a bit flimsy even though I've heard from Pool techs that they don't last, I've had mine for a year. It's main problem is lack of support in the app. There is no scheduler or timed program which means you will constantly recharging it every day or so. It does a reasonable job of picking up surface debris but can get caught going in a loop. The temp sensor never worked on mine also. Show details
Aiper Surfer S1 was a lemon. The solar panel did not charge and had to be returned. Very poor customer service by Arya and Yoyo June 2025 update: They offered me a refund and free replacement unit as a token of compensation for my poor experience.. However, this unit has exactly the same issue and I has discarded the unit. Extremely disappointed Show details
Skimmer works well when charged. Videos and instruction booklet are misleading about this working automatically. If left in pool and runs out of battery, it will shut off which then requires to be manually charged via power outlet. Instruction say to leave in pool and it will recharge and turn back on - no it must have at least 15% power to do… Read more
this. So if left in pool all the time, it will run out of battery and require recharging before it can turn on again. As advertised as an automatic recharging skimmer, it is not but what I have found is to turn it off when charge left and then turn on when in the sun so it can recharge while cleaning.
Our property is surrounded by substantial established trees so likely gets more leaves than most. This is in my opinion more important than even the matching Suba s1 which we bought as a combo. It picks up the leaves prior to them sinking and falling apart which makes sense to have preventative cleaning and less work for the robot. It also means… Read more
far less skimmer cleaning. The combination of charge and solar means it goes for hours and hours. In 10 years my pool has never been so crystal clear and much less chemicals now too. even if it's not this brand a robotic skimmer is IMO essential. An issue with a failed propeller early in the piece but customer service talked through trouble shooting and when it was confirmed as a fault replaced without question. Remains to be seen post warranty how good the service is though.
It’s great if you leave it in continuously – Updated after 12 months of use: I bought this to skim leaves after we remove our pool cover. It would be great if you don't use a pool cover at all. It works well if you leave it in for extended periods rather than expecting it to quickly skim around the top of the pool to clean it off. You need to expect to leave it in place for at least 4-5… Read more
hours, and preferably continuously.
If you leave it in overnight, it can completely fill its container which is quite impressive. Keeping that much material out of the skimmer box and off the bottom of the pool is a good thing. It handles most leaf matter well but large palm fronts or sticks can jam the paddle wheel.
It moves quite slowly and can be diverted by the pool jets if you have the water level too low so you need to keep the fast flowing water down a bit or the water level up. This isn’t a major issue but not ideal. For the same reason it can also get stuck in the wier and cause the pool pump to cavitate.
It would be a much better product if it had a little more power in the motors, and if you didn’t need to turn on the energy sapping WiFi etc constantly to enable solar charging. Really the solar charging should work without the equipment operating, that way you could leave it in the pool and have it scheduled to turn on at 11 am or so.
Pros: - works for a good portion of the day - effectively cleans the surface albeit slowly - has extendable poles to stop it getting stuck on stairs - water temp sensor - good app
Cons: - gets stuck in weir and doesn’t play nice with pool jets - requires cabled charging because you can’t just leave it in the sun to charge without it discharging when not in use - it’s slow - doesn’t have scheduled wake up or cleaning - somewhat expensive for what it is
If they added in scheduled wake up and charging while wifi etc is off, it would get 5 stars.
Fantastic, but needs some improving – Admittedly several years ago, I tried to make a similar product that was solar powered, using an old pool net, PVC Pipe, foam, RC Motors and batteries. Regrettably it did not work. So, 2 months ago I pre-orderd one. We do get leaf matter in our pool from Palm trees, and some of the flowers (especially in Autumn). Autumn will be the real test,… Read more
when we have flowers dropping as well as more leaves that usual.
You do have to charge it off the provided DC Adapter as the solar does not seem to keep it fully charged, however it only takes @ 90-120 mins to charge.
The ability to have a mode, where it runs for 30 mins every hour (or 2) would be great, or a timer system
There are some marks at the front, where the plastic has come in contact with the pool edge, so the addition of Rubber Bumpers would be good to prevent any scratches.
Some mornings, it does not connect, as there is not enough charge in the battery, even though I usually turn it off before the sun comes down the previous day.
There appears to be a metal contact underneath, so there maybe a possibility of a Dock, which would be handy.
It appears to have a remote control mode, though I haven't used it.
