After almost 4 years of using this product I can honestly say I wouldn't get a Robo-Tek again. It has great suction which is what got my attention as we have a lot of gum trees surrounding our property. However, that's about the only positive thing I can say. The controls are very basic, and annoyingly you have to wait about 10 seconds after you… Read more

turn it on to choose the run time, then another 10 seconds before you can turn on the wall clean function. Removing and cleaning the bag is a frustrating process and if you accidentally let it fill too much, it can be impossible to remove it as it gets snagged on internal parts. Also, the bag is underneath the unit, but your not allowed to flip the robot upside down because of the poor design as the weight of the unit can snap the impeller cover (happened twice). So instead you have to awkwardly try and re-insert the bag when the unit is on its side. There have been several other things to break as well - all 4 tracking belts (twice), both drive belts, the foam rollers are barely hanging on and the cord is mouldy and falling apart. All up I've spent nearly $1000 on repairs even though I take good care of it and rarely leave it in the pool when not in use. Very disappointing for a $2000 machine!

Really disappointed with this product - such a poorly designed and absolutely bad quality product. The Robotek plus has been in the repair shop more often than actually working. I’ve officially given up after 3 years and have decided to retire this machine. Never again - there is so much choice now and some great products on the market, Robotek is… Read more

Update - Appreciate the personal attention and the direct follow up from the owner to address my issues. I’ve received a repaired robot free of charge and I hope that this repair meets expectations but time will tell.

Where to start? Bulk and heavy compared to other products. Filters are very fiddly to replace. The foam rollers get hyper-dried out, turning them into flotation devices. Before the machine will sink and do its job, you need to spend quite a while first "massaging" the rollers to get them to start soaking up water. Both drive belts snapped. … Read more

The cord twists around itself in normal operation *very* quickly, and is very difficult to straighten out (hint - for goodness sake, buy a cordless model of whatever brand you get). The constantly twisted cord reduces the robot's operational range and at times threatens to pull the controller into the water. The connector housing where the cord goes into the body of the controller became loose very quickly, and with all the cord twisting, it eventually severed the electric wires completely, thus rendering the machine unusable. The carrier supplied by Robotek began rusting almost immediately. The climb function can't deal with curved steps, and would often get hung up at an awkward angle. The mapping function is poor, with the machine focussing on one half of the pool and largely ignoring the other half. The device can't handle leaves from palm trees and struggled with slightly larger leaves such as those from some magnolia trees nearby. At the end of the day, any labour time the device saves you is cancelled out by the the effort of managing this device and the fact I had to finish the job properly with the traditional pool vacuum/brush. Positives: the filter bags, though painful to install, picked up fine dirt and sand well, and are machine washable.

Best Pool Cleaner for us – This is the best pool cleaner i have ever owned. It was expensive, but it cleans so well in a short time that it was well worth the money. Especially with the gum tress i have around the pool. Other cleaners struggled all the time with doing a good job, and had to be on for hours to just clean the pool average. With this cleaner i put it in, set the time, and it does the rest. The end result has ben a crystal clear pool. So in summary...love it. Show details ·  1

Great product – I have owned my Robotek pool cleaner for over 6 years and have found it to be an excellent product. I have a fair amount of dust and leaves falling into my pool and as per the instructions with my cleaner, I run it on the floor for around half an hour and remove and clean the filter bag. I mentioned this to the receptionist who advised me not to throw it in. I can honestly recommend this pool cleaner as it does the job without tangling the cable and gives my pool a thorough clean…..

Great Pool cleaner – We are very happy with performance of the cleaner over the two years of ownership. The cleaner picks up all leaf sizes and sometimes kids toys and goggles without stopping. Works ok but my pool floor to wall radius is causing pool to get caught on occasions – Works ok in floor only mode, gets stuck on internal concave corner of pool wall when it approaches at an angle when wall mode. Its has good suction sucking up all debris. It just gets caught. In hindsight pool radius is to sharpe. This is 30 year old pool. Cleaner has been working extremely well since my first post. My apologies to Robo tek. Even at my age I am still learning. Show details ·  3

Buyer beware. Would you expect this unit to last at least 4 years? Sadly, it's just not a quality product, will see if Consumer Affairs Vic agree. Will look at a more reliable brand to replace it.

Strong, sturdy, excellent cleaner and customer service – I do not like to write a review until something goes wrong with a product or its passed a good length of time. This is a genuine review, I have not been paid or conned into providing one. You can skip to the summary at the bottom I purchased this Robo-tek pool cleaner approx 15 mths ago, replacing our Dolphin S150. The Robo-tek is strong and… Read more

reliable. It has exceptional quality and powerful. It cleans the pool very well (60,000ltr Pool with steps). Yes, there are some spots it misses also, it does sometimes get stuck on the steps, but the Dolphin was so much worse on both issues. The Robo-Tek does a much better job. Our pool is always in heavy use too, so this Robo-Tek monster has worked its bottom off for 15 months. We live on acreage and so we do get lots of frogs/toads and debris (insects, lizards, leaves, branches and soil) in our pool, specially in times of bad weather. The Robot-Tek comes with 2 machine washable quality cloth catches. Whilst in pool I wash one and interchange it whilst machine is working. That is an awesome idea, when you have had a storm. Ours came with a trolley, which is a great idea for transferring it back and forth to pool and garage/shed.

Most importantly is the customer service, all I can say is absolutely brilliant. They listen and do whatever they can to help you. After 15mths the track on the wheel broke, and they offered to replace it (keep in mind it is a wear and tear part). A far cry from Maytronics (Dolphin). We took very good care of both cleaners, never left it in the pool and after use, we rinsed it off, putting it back in the garage.

What is important too is the parts are very reasonably priced.

We had a terrible experience with Maytronics Dolphin S150 continuously broke down. Customer service were hopeless and used every trick in the book to get out of warranty. When they did fix it under warranty (took 4mths!!) the robot was never the same again, and even would fall backwards trying to clean the walls. It also would never clean the shallow end of the pool and always got stuck on the stairs (so much for their mapping). I remember almost falling over when, the guy told us how much it cost to fix it. Parts are very expensive, and never in stock, taking months for them to import them in from overseas!! If that is not the worst part, the Dolphin never cleaned the pool properly. So we cut our losses and purchased the Robo-tek, whilst the Dolphin was still under warranty. Best decision we ever made. Some things are just not worth the hassle.

We are so happy with the Robo-Tek, a much better experience. One wheel track needed replacing in 15 mths of heavy use, I cannot complain. Wear and tear does happen, and this is something that happens with all robots.

Yes the robot, is heavy (but so are all), however, this boils down to quality. If you want a quality product, sorry but this is the trade off.

Pro's Cleans wells, specially the walls and debris Quality build Very powerful You can turn off the climb Time adjustments Lead from the robot to box is easy to remove, if it gets tangled Large debris catcher which ours came with 2 bags (machine washable after rinse off) The debris catcher is like a thick cotton so catches everything Parts are in stock Parts are reasonably priced Customer service is exceptional Ours came with a trolley too

Con's Machine is a little heavy (but so are all) The debris catcher easy to install but you have to turn the machine on its back to get to it. We put a blanket down to protect the top and remove the vent (easy to do).

So if you are not happy to replace wear and tear parts on a robot, I would advise you not to purchase any Robot. Its a bit like a car, you must look after, service it and replace parts. However, if you are still considering a Robot cleaner, then, I would look no further than purchasing a Robo-tek.

Good Clean, tedious maintenance – I bought the Robotek plus about 3 years ago, While it does a good job cleaning the pool it does have a number of drawbacks. After only around 9 months one of the tracks broke and then the other a couple months later, these were… Read more

replaced under warranty but gave me concerns about it's longevity. I also find the constant bag removal, cleaning and refitting rather tedious as a thorough cleaning can take some time. The robo-plus V2 looks like it will have similar issues, so I guess in the future I would get a robot with less/easier maintenance.

Not Fit for Outdoor Use - Disappointing Performance and Design Flaws – I was drawn to the Robo-Tek Robo-Plus by its glowing reviews, but my experience has been far from positive. I’ve encountered many of the same issues reported by other recent reviewers: • Cable Tangling: Despite proper storage (unplugged and neatly looped on the caddy), the cable repeatedly tangled during use, making it frustrating and… Read more

time-consuming to manage. •Heavy and Unwieldy: The cleaner is extremely heavy and difficult to lift in and out of the pool. •Poor Wall Cleaning: Even with the climb feature activated, it struggled to clean walls effectively, always stopping halfway up. • Flawed Navigation System: The cleaning pattern was inconsistent, frequently missing large areas, particularly in the shallow end. •Inability to Clean Steps: The cleaner could not handle standard steps, which was disappointing given the otherwise typical pool design. •Difficult Filter Attachment: The filter bags were hard to attach due to even the slightest twist in the elastic, even when brand new, making it extremely difficult to lock the filter into place.

The most serious issue was the control panel failing within four months of purchase, flashing multiple colours and repeatedly tripping. When I contacted Steve at Robo-Tek about the malfunctioning control box, he asked whether it had been exposed to water, including rain. I explained that whilst the caddy and control box were stored in a sheltered cabana during the swimming season, there’s always a possibility of unexpected rain, sun showers, dewy and windy conditions causing incidental moisture exposure.

Steve’s response, that water damage or water contact/ entering the control box is not covered under warranty - was both alarming and unacceptable for a product explicitly designed for outdoor use. If an outdoor product cannot handle typical environmental conditions, such as rain or humidity, it is not fit for purpose. This undermines the “automatic, robotic set-and-forget” promise, as it essentially requires constant supervision and relocation indoors to avoid the smallest risk of moisture exposure. This lack of durability raises serious questions about the product’s suitability and design.

While the suggested remote use to operate the cleaner provided a temporary workaround, it became unreliable after approximately 12 months, working only 50% of the time, despite fresh batteries. The final straw came when the tangled cable pulled the caddy including the mounted control box into the pool, rendering the entire system inoperable. Repair costs would total $1,000 for a new control box and cable, which is an unreasonable expense given the high likelihood of recurring issues due to poor design and quality. I, like many of the other customers have also stated, will have to take the financial hit, throw the machine in the trash and seek a fit for purpose, quality alternative.

In summary, the Robo-Tek Robo-Plus fails on multiple levels. As an outdoor-only product, it is poorly equipped to handle standard environmental conditions, which makes it unreliable and frustrating to use. Between the repeated functionality issues, flawed design, and inadequate warranty coverage, I cannot recommend this product. Those seeking a durable, and truly outdoor-ready pool cleaner should look elsewhere.

Great when it works, but we had lots of issues and have spent a lot of $ on spare parts in 4 years – The service team are awesome, but unfortunately I've had to call them a few times, and send the unit back to Vic (from QLD) once. Although I've been generally satisfied with the product over almost 4 years, here is a list of issues I have had that others should be aware of: - unit refused to clean the shallow end of the pool on all cycles… Read more

including 2hrs. Had to send unit back with drawing of pool for it to be reprogrammed under warranty (our pool is 7.4x4m rectangle so nothing special). - The remote wouldn't turn the unit - sent back and replaced under warranty - was addressed along with the above issue. - Unit wouldn't clean steps (still doesn't). We decided not to send it back a second time. - 4 x drive belts have snapped and been replaced. - 2 x belts have snapped and been replaced. - 2 x flaps on inflow cover have snapped and been replaced (as others have said, robo-tek advise not to throw into water but honestly the flaps need a better design). - Inflow cover lock snapped (not replaced). - Btns on control panel stopped working - replaced at Robo-teks suggestion but still didn't work. We have to use the remote now. - Belts rubbing on the foam inserts - so its now "squeaky". - The impeller cover broke off (not replaced). - The pool shop told us that emptying the basket was "fiddly" and they were 100%, although I sucked this up because the basket captured everything... but I see the RT team must have listened to customers as their new baskets seem to be much easier to service.

A special warning - replacing the belts on this machine is a massive pain in the backside - and VERY fiddly if you have proper sized man-hands, so my wife has to tighten some of the screws for me, not to mention trying to get the belts on.

We are just waiting for it to die before we purchase another unit - the new RT stuff looks good but once bitten etc etc. We would have expected more than 4 years, and we've spent a few hundred dollars on replacement parts, so overall value is low (for us anyways) :-(

Ignore the positive reviews... Very disappointed – Avoid this robot like the plague. I was sucked in years ago from glowing product reviews from this site. dragging the control box into the pool. That cost me $700 for a new one. The guy at the pool shop just laughed and said "yeah, we probably should've told you to be careful. That happens all the time." Thanks.

During it's short life it cleaned ok, and got most of the pool (despite having is favourite spots), but the cons far outweighed the pros... The belts wore out far too often, the ridiculously small waste basket was very fiddly to clean, the control unit lost half of its functions (in the end I was happy that I could even get it turned on), the socket connection to the control unit was very flimsy and needed frequent jiggling, but by far the worst thing about it was there was no option to have a swivel cord. This meant that after every clean cycle it would end up twisted. I'd have to pull it out of the pool, disconnect the cable, stretch it out and untwist it. Now, at the beginning of the 3rd pool season it finally gave up the ghost. Dead motor amongst other things, not a financially viable repair. The technician at the repair shop told me not to go with this make again, so I'm passing on that advice to you so your wife doesn't chew you out for wasting so much money.

live up to the hype on either the product or support promises - I have tried on about 5 occasions to get support or to get a refund and have been completely ignored. The issues:

1. Stops climbing walls randomly - just stops 1/2 way up the wall and doesn't get to the waterline; 2. Metal clip broke securing the cable to the unit so cable is taking the stress; 3. The control box warped in the sun and is no longer waterproof / now is an electrical hazard; 4. The device gets lost in a square pool! It just loops in the same area and needs to be moved manually; and (most importantly) 5. The drive belts were loose after only a year of service. They then frayed and now are wrapped around the gears so the device has stopped moving completely!

Tossed it out after 2 and a half years – In my opinion, this isn't a good value product. It has never worked very particularly well. I always need to position it to try and get it to clean parts of the pool that it missed completely. I had it fixed under warrantee twice in the first year as the tracks broke. Early in its life, the cart toppled over and the plastic box fell off. The… Read more

plastic had broken around the screw mounting and I tied the cover back on. I didn't ever get that fixed and I gather there have been some improvements with the casing with latest model. It regularly beeped to tell me something was wrong, and sometimes it had stopped and sometimes it hadn't. The only thing that helped (sometimes) was to stop it, change the bag (which never had much in it) and put a clean one in. I couldn't just empty the bags but had to run them through the washing machine. They were hard to put into the vacuum. If the elastic had a kink, it wouldn't fit property and wouldn't close. I'd have to take it out and spend quite a bit of time straightening the elastic. The plastic piece that held the cord to the robot (or one of the connections - thankfully, there was a removable hook as well, and that was metal) perished and snapped. The cord was starting to perish too. The final issue was that we couldn't get the power cable out of the controller box. I took it for repair and was told it had fused to the circuitry. As it was out of warranty, it was estimated to cost $700 (or more) get the fused cable out of the controller and fix the cable and controller. The big rubber wheels that should clean the floor and walls of the pool were also needing replacing, which explained why I had been having to manually brush the pool for many months as they weren't getting the algae off. That was wear and tear but it would have been nice to last longer than 2 years. It was never any good at climbing the walls and I'd also had to manually clean the stairs. I probably wouldn't think these things were too bad, except that it cost around $2k. Looking at replacement products, I expect a much better product for that price.

After number of emails they collected the product and repaired . Again within 1 year its conveyor belts are broken while working in pool. I tried to contact them in emails and they are not responding. Dont buy this product . Show details

Poor design and unreliable – I purchased the Robotek Robo Plus in Feb 2021. Over that time I've cleaned the pool with it fewer than 10 times. Each time I try to use it there is an issue. I've returned it to Melbourne 3 times and each time I get it back, it works once and then fails. The design of the robot is poor, cleaning it and removing it from the pool is a real chore… Read more

that no one in the household wants to do. Each time we try to run it, there are issues from broken treads to numerous electrical problems. I purchased it because it was the most expensive one I could find and I wanted a trouble free experience however I've wasted hours with it trying various things to get it to work so have now given up and will try an alternate brand.

Good Product & Excellent Service – We recently needed to get our unit serviced as it wasn't climbing the walls. Robo-Tek were great to deal with, they organised the collection and delivery back of the unit and did the repair at a very reasonable price. Despite the unit being bit heavy , it works really really well. Show details ·  1

Agricultural, Cumbersome, Heavy and Dirty – Like others I cannot believe the positive reviews about this robotic pool cleaner! Also like other reviews Steve's customer service is great but it would have to be when you provide such a cumbersome, hard to use unit. It does clean the pool quite well (except for the walls and steps) but the before and after is the killer! I absolutely dread… Read more

having to drag it out, break my fingers placing the bag around the leaf catcher, the difficulty in placing the whole leaf catching unit into the base of the cleaner then having to lift the whole thing into the water!

Then the added dread of having to break my back taking it out of the water!!!!!!!!! Cleaning the leaf catcher bag is also a chore and quite off putting.

You only realise after having it for a while how agricultural it is and like I said Steve was great and offered me a refund after I complained several times but required the original box which I had ripped apart and the organising to have it picked up was just too hard.

After two and a half years I have now given up and getting rid of it!
