Refuse to honour warranty on Intercom – I purchased an Intercom kit (Aiphone JOS1FW 7" Wireless Video Intercom Kit w JO1MDW, JODVF & P/S) in August 2021. It was installed by a professional installer in October 2021. The external intercom unit developed a problem in March 2022. The button failed to initiate a call to the base unit. The external intercom (JODVF) was returned to Aiphone (as the manufacturer) by the installer. The units come with a 3 year warranty. Aiphone took 2 months to eventually report that there was corrosion inside the unit. They then referred to an exclusion in their warranty for "abnormally corrosive conditions" and refused warranty. The intercom was installed outside in a brick gate pillar, in a residential street over 1 km from the coast. Sydney has had a wet year, but our location was not subject to flooding, not could the environment be considered "abnormally corrosive". Aiphone's support staff have made no attempt to speak to the installer, not ask for more information about the actual installation location. I have sent them this information, but that have not responded to my email. Their avoidance of their warranty obligations are disgraceful. It is most disappointing and other buyers should beware. It is unfortunate that I now have to lodge and progress a case with the seller (who really is seemingly not at fault here) through NSW Fair Trading.
