As per my previous review Aldi Home and Contents insurance is a huge rip off. They are underwiten by Honey insurance. Was asked to do an update on my original review on here so I submitted online for a new quotation for home and contents insurance and they are still well over double the price that I am currently paying for home and contents insurance. Shop around for quotes as they are a huge rip off Show details
Beware - do not cover storm damage. Tried to make first claim in over 30 years with Aldi and just been denied cover even though the water damage was down internal garage walls, onto beams and water streaming into our garage and on electric sockets. Sent out a plumber to look at our roof damage - then rejected this and said it was up to us to… Read more
sort out. Policy cancelled immediately. (was dubious taking out cheaper insurance, and we paid the price).
Couldnt even get into the quote properly! Tried for 3 dys to get car and home insurance quotes but app kept crashing - tried to call but only avail 9-5 weekdays. Total cr#p. Made email enquiry/ complaint and it took them 3 working days to respond only to tell me to call. I gave up. If its that hard to just get a quote what theheck would making a claim be like. No thanks Show details
Was previously with Budget Direct, which I had mistakenly thought was the cheapest home & contents insurance on the market. After they charged my credit card with a premium that had gone up nearly 300% (no claims, not in a flood/fire zone), and then getting the run-around by their customer services area when I enquired, I cancelled and started… Read more
getting quotes from as many insurers as I could. By far the cheapest was Aldi - premium was $1,400 p.a., including the 8% discount for agreeing to instal the free sensors that they send you. I really like that they reward you for agreeing to implement their risk mitigation measures. The next cheapest quote was Coles at $1,800 p.a. Interesting that the cost of buying a basket of groceries at Aldi v Coles is a similar differential. I can see that other reviewers have raised issues about the Aldi insurance claim process. After 30 years of paying home & contents insurance and never making a claim, I hope/expect I never will, so I guess the ease/speed of the claims process is a risk I'm prepared to take in return for a much lower premium.
Easiest and least expensive home insurance I could find. Super simple to sign up. Show details
I called looking for contents insurance. While they weren't able to offer me the insurance due to the policies, the call taker - Vosa - recommended Insurance Council which directed me to a great insurance broker who was able to assist. A big thank you to Vosa for her assistance! Show details
Do not recommend. I took out a policy with them purely because they stated they covered specific items (e-bike) both at and away from home- only to be called 2 months later to say they made a mistake and it could not be covered at all. Ridiculous! I feel they should have honoured this as it was clearly approved in my policy and this was their fault. Poor customer service. Show details
Cheap and nasty home insurance… Wait till you put a claim in. The worst experience of my life. We claimed on the 2nd July 2025 and as of 6th of Jan 2026 still not resolved. Finally we lodged with AFCA but still no response from them. We bought insurance from ALDI claim is with HONEY insurance and the underwriters is RACQ and no one knows what’s going on. NEVER AGAIN it’s a shame aldi put there name to this s shonky insurance Show details
I took out a policy in June 2024, with premium to be deducted via direct debit. I was expecting a renewal of my policy a month or two prior to the anniversary date, so I attempted to login to my account - which returned "user does not exist" error. Tried a few more times, and then started checking emails for any i had missed and my bank account… Read more
to check transactions. My policy had been cancelled after 3 months, and payments no longer taken from my account!!! With no reason or communication at all! I had been uninsured for MONTHS without knowing! I tried contacting via email and by phone and never received a response AT ALL as to why this happened. So disgusted by this terrible customer service... I'm just lucky that i had no reason to claim occur in that time, How can they just stop your policy without telling you?
My premiums jumped from $187/month to $432.85 without warning when my policy renewed. That’s more than double. This includes an 8% 'saving'. I rang ALDI and the customer service rep—who was polite—read what was clearly a scripted excuse the company uses for these increases. How they justify a jump like that is beyond me. I got a quote from… Read more
another insurer and reduced my premium by $232/month. It’s criminal.
Yes, they email a renewal notice and attach a file—but it’s easy to assume your premium will stay about the same, so you may not open the attachment. That’s on purpose. It’s misleading and unfair.
I would never use ALDI Insurance again and strongly encourage others to read the fine print and compare quotes before blindly renewing. This was a disappointing experience from a company I expected better from.
I've attached screen shots so others can be aware. These amounts were in the attachments, not in the main body of the email. Deliberately not transparent.
Shocked, disappointed and bewildered! – The annual premium I was quoted was $9000 for a detached 4 bed, 2 bathroom property in Caroline Springs! I was stunned and lost for words when the consultant told me. I’ve had insurance for decades without a claim. I hoped Aldi would be competitive but it is obviously not. Show details
Aldi Insurance way too expensive compared to Coles and Woolies Insurance products – Aldi claim: "Insurance for people who have a car or a home. It's pretty straightforward ..." . No, it's another example where Aldi have failed to do their Business Case professionally or properly ! . Teaming up with RACQ makes these insurance products anything but competitive with - for example - what Coles or Woolies insurances can offer ...… Read more
. AlDi are in this case not "good different", but rather bad and incompetent, also misleading in the Car Insurance product: "Hire car after theft or not at fault collision." which is similar to paying more premium when buying white goods and pay for Extended Warranty as a private customer ... . Even with the cheapest (comprehensive) car insurance policies these days, you always have the right to get a hire car for the time your car is in the workshop, if you were NOT at fault for the claim you've made. . In greater Sydney, there is a company named "Right2Drive" they handle everything for you - if you are NOT at fault - incl. delivery and pick up of the "hire" car / vehicle ... . Good luck Aldi - you really need it !
Over rated – Got a quote using same details as our budget direct policy and it was around $500 more a year. Don't understand why current affairs gave them such a good plug and said they were more affordable than the rest. What a load of nonsense Show details
Find out how ALDI Home & Contents Insurance compares to other Home and Contents Insurance
Know better, choose better.
Aldi vs Honey vs The Rest – Aldi insurance (Home & Contents) online application is a rebadged version of Honey Insurance online application. I put all the same details into each Honey and Aldi, Aldi was still significantly cheaper. I talked to both about my quotes (which they had access to, so no need to reiterate needs). $750k building $240k Contents I selected… Read more
additional insurance for 4 mobile phones anywhere in Aust/NZ plus an $4000 video camera and climbing gear. This pushed the quote up, but not anywhere near Budget Direct, the next closest competitor.
Aldi also allow monthly payments without any additional % charge, simply the annual fee divided by 12. Ok so first payment has come out ot the account, labelled as Honey. So I guess Aldi insurance is Honey insurance, just sold at the usual (gratefully received) Aldi discount
Aldi Insurance waste of time – How useless is Aldi Insurance. You complete an application online and it tells you that someone will contact you, the next day they ring you and go through exactly the same as you did online and they tell you they will send an email for you to complete the policy. You then click on the email and it goes through exactly the same again telling you… Read more
someone will call you, though this time they don't call. So you send them an email asking what is going on, which again they ignore. Typical Aldi, no customer service and just another example of their lack of Customer Service.
We used to spend about $200 a week with Aldi, but since Covid they have become more expensive than the others and have less variety so now we only spend $50 a month with them. We have gone back to Woolies and Coles at least we have a choice of products and when you take into account the Rewards Cards discounts and deals they are on average cheaper than Aldi.
How the latest Choice survey had them cheaper I would not know how that happened, did they compare brand products against Aldi generic products? Aldi was the best, now a poor third spot. I hope they finally realise their mistake and go back to being the leader they used to be.
Easy, Simple and Affordable – Well I'm not sure where the previous reviewer got their quote pricing from, we just submitted a quote for our home/contents insurance (700k home/building, plus 150k contents with smart home sensors) and quoted $1809.50 annually. Much, much cheaper than our current insurer AAMI. The application process was easy to navigate and the PDS easily… Read more
understood and explained in detail the finer points. We have accepted the offer and look forward to a long relationship with 'ALDI (Honey Insurance.) underwritten by RACQ.
Stay away from Aldi Home and Contents it is a huge rip off – I went online to get a quote for house and contents insurance since Aldi are advertising their insurance at present.Currently paying $1700 a year and Aldi Quote was $14,000.Thinking it was a mistake I tried again and sure enough it came up with this figure.I then put in a friends house just to test in another suburb she is paying $1200 and they… Read more
wanted 13,000.I then thought it must be a mistake and wrote to Aldi and received a generic garbage letter from one of their sales representatives saying costs relate to increases and different circumstances etc, etc. What a load of rubbish SO BE AWARE AND STAY RIGHT AWAY FROM THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS!!
