Still waiting on refund after 2 weeks
Purchasing a house in QLD, and the contract fell through. Cancelled my policy in the cooling off period. I have email confirmation about my full refund on 4/11, but still yet to see the refund in my bank account.
Called the call centre on 13/11. Refund still hadn’t been processed (sitting in a queue to process).
It is now 19/11. Still no refund.
WHERE IS IT?
I have checked with my bank, and they have no record of any refund being submitted as yet.
Budget direct may be cheap, but they take WAY TOO LONG to refund your payments.

Weird Budget Home and content insurance
I was with budget Home and content insurance over the years. No Claims over the year. Excellent client history. But Budget increase their premium every year and ripping customer. Customer service is ridicules service. When you joining budget and there are very nice on the phone. Once you signed up and they're tones started to change. They are very unhelpful and rude. Budget definitely ripping their customer every year and keep increasing their premium. Please be aware of them and do not sign up with Budget. They do not care about loyalty customer. They are just ripping our Australian economy.

I was explained Every detail of the insurance policy was required I saved quite a lot of money over the entire year I was sent reminders of when my payment was due and everything worked out exactly right
Budget Direct Charges customers a "Lazy Tax"
I have had my Car & Home & Contents Insurance with Budget Direct for many years, as I had always found them to have a good product, which I believe they still do.
Sadly like many companies, they assume that their loyal customers will stay with them no matter what and as such charge us a "Lazy Tax", it pays to make sure you are getting a good deal no matter who you are insured with.
With my last Home & Contents Insurance renewal, they increased my premium by $300 plus, even though I never had a claim with them. So like many people I went to a ...comparison site where Budget Directs online quote was the same as I had previously paid. So on my renewal they were going to charge me an increase of $300 plus, yet when I got a quote through a comparison site, their price was the same I had previously paid. When I contacted them directly they said the reason for that was the price online was for a new customer, gives people an incentive to stay loyal with a company, as an existing customer you get charged more, than a new customer. Same thing then happened with my car insurance renewal, the renewal was for $310, a slight increase of about about $30 something dollars, went online and got a quote with Woolworths Car Insurance for $183. The lesson being, do not pay a lazy tax to any company do your research and get quotes with other companies, the lesson to Budget Direct, do the right thing for your existing customers or you will lose them.

Back to Budget after long search for a trustworthy & well priced policy. Good advice over the phone & good support. Treated well by an Australian based company. Feeling comfortable about my choice.
Affordable home n contents insurance
The cost for the home insurance plus contents was less than my previous policy with NRMA despite having had the policy for a number of years. The site was easy to navigate and you could go forwards n backwards to alter the quote.
Very Disappointed with Incorrect Information - Causing me to insure twice - Then charged cancel fee.
I contacted Budget Home Insurance as I wished to add contents insurance to a building policy I was sure I had taken out at the time of paying a deposit on a house I had recently purchased. I was told by the staff member I had NOT insured the house with Budget. I could not see any policy in my emails. I was very shocked by this information and worried I had forgotten to insure the house. I then insured the house and contents. I then went thru my bank statements and found that on the day of paying the deposit I had paid budget $629.39. I fo...llowed this up and was told I had in fact insured the building twice, thru no fault of my own. Pretty poor customer service. If I had not followed this up I would have paid twice. I have now organised a refund of the first policy but I should have not been put in the position of having to find the extra money to pay the second policy. Jen on the chat line was helpful but I am unimpressed overall that this error was made. I then checked to make sure I was not charged a cancellation fee on the first policy and find they have charged me $40 to correct their error.

This is the first product I have purchased from you. The policy was good value and the application was able to be completed with ease. As it is a new policy I have not lodged a claim.

Very prompt with coverage of insurance and easy to follow. It was done online very easy to understand, the time spent filling out all details was very easy to accomplish

Great value for money. Similar product to most others offer but at a lower premium. Set up wasnt that difficult too. Might consider transferring my vehicle insurance to budget direct.
New policy which only took effect yesterday. It was easy to set up. Iselect went through policy details and budget direct appeared to offer the same cover but at a cheaper rate.
Had to complete this process 3 times website wasn't working
Poor customer service and failure of the website created a bunch of rework. I couldn't get the cover I wanted. Poor support and they made me cancel and then re do it which was a waste of time for everyone!

If you're in an accident and the other car has no visible damage, are you not meant to assess the car yourself? I don't pay all this money so you can just trust the other insurer word that's there damage underneath... Ridiculous

Before you choose an insurer check their payout ratios not the purchase price. You will be staggered at Budget Directs poor payout ratio.
Yes that’s a good point - I didn’t know you could check these things. Do you know what the payout ratio is on home and contents with Budget direct ?
13 approved 25 rejected . I changed after refusal for legit claim to Australian Seniors 15 approved 1 refused as an example. See figures bottom right corner under each review
I also changes to another insurer after they rejected our legitimate claim. We are still fighting our claim. We had requested they produce reports and photos that where taken from their own contractors but they refused to send them to us. Now they have been forced to produce these reports and its like we assumed, they are in our favor and they deliberately left these out when making there decision to reject our claim.

They do not respond to claims at all. In fact they will do whatever it takes not to pay you out. In our case they deliberately hid builders report that where in our favor.
Its quite funny how all the 5 star ratings on this site is for cheap upfront insurance. There are no 5 star rating when it comes to claims being paid out. Go through all the 1 star reviews and have a look at how they handle claims.
Save yourself the trouble and choose another insurer.
