Hands down the worst insurance experience I've ever had. Two weeks since the incident, still no answers as to when or who will do the repairs.Have spoken to 4 different reps, with 4 different stories as to where the claim was at. One minute it's a cash settlement, then it's not then it is again.
Good luck trying to actually get hold of someone in under an hour
Garden shed was blown to pieces after a strong wind event on the 3/3/2024, this in turn damaged the power connection to the house and broke some plumbing.

I repeat THE POWER POINT OF CONNECTION WILL FAIL FROM THE DAMAGE AND YOU SIMPLY DO NOT CARE Electrical contractor can't start work until the damaged shed is removed, yet Budget couldn't tell me when the shed was going to be removed (3x3 garden shed). Removed it from the area myself in the hope of speeding things up. Nobody can tell me when the shed will be replaced let alone if it's actually a cash settlement and I have to organise it myself, meanwhile everything that was stored inside is now out in the weather. You know things are bad when you call the ombudsman and the person on the other end says 'let me guess, budget' You've done nothing but add to the stress of an elderly man currently undergoing cancer treatment and will blatantly lie to his face. Every single person spoken to has told a different story. It may be cheap insurance but that doesn't mean your responsibility is any less Please don't send me the automated contact us at blah response and we will look into it. I'm not interested. I either want this fixed or the cash settlement paid immediately. You may get away with it time and time again, but I can hands down guarantee you that I will win if this isn't sorted asap. Building and contents insurance is due for renewal. I received renewal notice by email. In that notice I was advised they have an automatic renewal with my credit card details provided when I purchased the policy. I had to opt out of this automatic renewal process. I do not believe I have given BD permission for automatic renewal and why do I have to opt out. This is a total over reach. I decide if I will renew my policy. Not BD. I then went into my BD account and my credit card details have been stored in my BD account. When did I gave permiss... Read moreion for this? Even after lodging a formal complaint to address issues of rudeness and the reduced payment for a significant component of the repairs, Budget Direct failed to acknowledge or address these concerns promptly. Additionally, they disregarded previous discussions about the repairs in their decision-making process, issuing a final decision without further communication, deepening our mistrust in their commitment to resolving customer issues. As a result of the prolonged delays and lack of communication, our property was left in disrepair, causing significant inconvenience and embarrassment. Throughout this ordeal, our interactions with unhelpful customer service representatives, their lack of industry expertise, and reliance on scripted responses only compounded our frustration. Regarding mediation or responses from Budget's digital team, these appear to be little more than marketing tactics to create the illusion of concern and assistance. Unfortunately, they offer the same poor and uncaring treatment with no genuine intent for resolution. Budget Direct must align its actions with its marketing claims of 5-star service. In conclusion, Budget Direct's customer service, communication, and professionalism performance falls well below industry standards. Urgent reforms are necessary to address these systemic issues and rebuild customer trust. Based on my firsthand experience with Budget Direct Insurance, I cannot recommend them as an insurer in good faith. Worse company I’ve ever dealt with.Had my property damaged by the recent natural disaster.
After jumping through so many hurdles I was put in a forced situation to withdrawal my claim even though I had legitimate damage done to my property. $$$ down the drain out of pocket.

My renewal came through and the premium has gone up a staggering 38% in 1 year. I went to a comparative website and was quoted the same premium as last years. ie 38% cheaper than the renewal.
