In short, a direct lightning strike to our house resulting in loss of electrical equipment including solar panels and central heating. Lightning strike 7/3/26, claim lodged same day. delays, losing receipts, multiple visits to inspect damage, stalling tactics, every email, report, settlement statement, returned ph call takes 3-5 business days. They would return our call by letting the phone ring once, then sending an email saying we missed their call - another 3-5 days. In the end, we opted for a cash settlement as they wanted us to sign direct, very dodgy contracts with third party workers. 11 weeks & 5 days for a cash settlement - no work has even begun on repairs. We signed off on the settlement amounts on the 8th & 13th of May 2026 with the understanding money would be processed and in our account within 5 days. Finally, 26th of May 2026 we chased them up again, as no money was in our account, to be told we are processing that today. Disgusting! Shame on you Australian Seniors. Let's not forget that the majority of your customers are older Australians. We have just been sent our renewal. We will not be renewing with Australian Seniors.

Tried to get a policy from these people based on their great reviews here. Insurance declined on their website because I was honest and disclosed a home-based hobby "business" that is legally registered but has a turnover of less than a grand a year, is conducted entirely over the web and by post, and doesn't use any machinery or dangerous… Read more

DO NOT GET Australian Seniors Insurance. Their insurance is under written by Hollard's Insurance, probably the worst service insurance company in history. will treat you as a fraudster as a friend of mine recently went through their claim system and was rejected due to their team of investigating detectives contacting my friend and using a video interview with him, against him. Steer well clear of Australian Seniors Insurance. I feel so sorry for Australian Senior customers. They are meant to be helping Seniors, but all they are doing is ripping them off. They want to take vulnerable people's money and then handball them to HOLLARDS. That right HOLLARDS are garbage. People thinking about this company DO NOT GO WITH with Australian Seniors. If you don't believe what I'm saying call their Claim line and see how long you spend waiting for someone to answer, then you have to listen to their Product Disclosure that's longer than the Novel War and Peace. The wait time is terrible and they do this on purpose so you will probably hang up and not put through your claim. The staff are poorly trained and frankly they are probably painting their fingernails or looking at the sports page on their mobile phone. I had to go through this scam to make a claim. And in the end I gave up and fixed the issue myself. Of course, that what their strategy is, make the customer pay and never help them with their claim. I wouldn't worry though as their are a multitude of insurers out there but be mindful CBA and Real Insurance also use Hollard's. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I agree with others as cannot possibly understand how they get great reviews! What is this actually based on? Yes they're polite and helpful in setting up policies but that is where it ends. We have had Home and Contents Insurance with them for about 4 years but the increases have been astronomical. Yes they will tell you in a spill the reasons… Read more
why policies increase each year but cannot substantiate the huge amounts of increases... Our current policy for Home & Contents with Australian Seniors came in at triple the price of a major competitor,! It was such a shock as our circumstances are unchanged, no claims and a no risk area! Absolutely ludicrous-so we opted out renewing with Australian Seniors as we were able to get Home & Contents Insurance with another major Insurer at one third of Australian Seniors renewal certificate!!! We were able to get a policy combination of H&C and insured for a substantially higher amount for both with minimal excess payable! We are not speaking of a couple of hundred dollars we are talking about a $3000 increase! No one I spoke to could give me a clear explanation as to the ridiculous increase since all was unchanged! Please shop around and don't listen to the ads looking after the over 50'..... it's more like taking advantage of the over 50's. We found 3 major Insurance companies coming in at one third of the price with same policy details! Definitely do not recommend....

it is just about value adjustments. After adding the extras, found the premium was actually less than the others. The customer service was excellent. I called some 3 times and each time they were patient while I drilled into detail, and were exact in their replies. I spent more than I had wanted but got heaps more value. Very pleased. Also good reviews on claims even though I hope I never need to make one.
