Unhappy with the very long wait.
Rang them today about a renewal. The phone call took over half an hour to complete and was told by two people that it was Friday afternoon and they were busy and I had to expect to have a long wait. Very unhappy with the very long process as my time IS IMPORTANT. I will NOT be renewing next year.
Outrageous quotation system
Misleading online quote system forces you to provide a mobile number which they then immediately call you on without giving you the quote price.
On the phone you are then inundated with personal questions (half of which you have already provided online) and then start diving for deeper personal info all completely unrelated to insuring a home and/or contents.
Based on how outrageous their prices end up being I can only assume Youi survives solely as a data mining company that will on-sell you information to 3rd parties.
My advice. Don't waste your time with them.
Cheap & Nasty Repairs
We had a damaged garage roller door replaced by YOUI insurance. The Sub- contractors were very unreliable, appointments we made by YOUI. Contractors either turned up late or not at all. When the Roller door was replaced, YOUI contractors replaced it with a cheap noisy Roller door. This was brought to the Sub-contractors attn. Who told us there was nothing he could do to fix it. The Ambrose (Youis Rep) inspected the Roller door and acknowledged that it was a cheap import and the skin was bouncing against the frame causing the noise when going up and down. Youi was Notified, they ignored our complaint and stop returning our calls.
ridiculous quoting system. Don't bother.
After getting online quotes from a range of different providers I decided to get a quote from Youi after seeing that they were highly rated on promuctreview.com.au. What a total waste of time.
The "online quote" system has been deliberately designed to mine as much personal information about you as possible, even your profession (like that has anything to do with insuring your home or contents!). No doubt all the personal data that you disclose when attempting to obtain a quote is going to be sold on and used to spam you. And then, after you ...have dutifully handed over all your personal data, they don't even present you with a quote!!! Instead, they tell you someone will call you shortly! I ignored the calls out of principle (they called and then kept calling) as I refuse to endorse a company that engages in these practices by giving them by business. Fortunately I had the foresight to provide them with an old email address and old mobile number during the quoting process, both of which I keep active for these sorts of purposes (Hot tip: you can keep an old/second mobile number active for $15 per year with a 365 day pre-paid plan). Youi has the same practice for obtaining quotes for car insurance. Do yourself a favour and don't bother. For Home and Contents insurance, Allianz have come in significantly cheaper for me than all the other providers I've gotten quotes from, so maybe check with Allianz instead - where they will actually provide you with an online quote.

My recent claim experience with Shannons has lead me to be motivated to shop around.
I spent close to 40 minutes on the phone to obtain a quote to compare with my current Shannons policy - after 40 minutes I was told my premium would be close to $9000 per annum with a $500 excess. For comparison, Shannons is $1930 pa with $500 excess.
No matter how bad Shannons is, at least they're not unaffordable, Like Youi.
I'm not sure what their insurance coverage is like as we never got that far, but we were seeking a cheaper home and contents quote. AAMI had just put ours up almost 20% to $2,300. Others were anything from $950 (Budget DIrect) to $1900 (Suncorp). Youii? $10,000 just for the home - we didn't even get to contents. Four bedroom, average home. MIND BOGGLING. Those ads with "real people" who have saved $$$ are clearly not real.
Very pleased to be a Youi customer
I consider myself lucky that I was insured with Youi. I lodged my claim on 6th December 2020 after the accidental fire at our house. The customer service officer was very polite and showed empathy and asked for my welfare and everyone else involved. The investigation process started with the assessor (Mr. Charlie) attending our burnt down property and taking video’s, photo’s etc. Due to Christmas holidays, there was some delay in the claim process that did add some stress.
My claims officer (Ms. Niki) was very helpful throughout the process. O...ne thing that really stood out for me, was how she showed genuine compassion with regular calls. She was truly above and beyond everything to ensure I was well informed of the process and things are done correctly. From my first phone call to the finalization of my claim, Youi were very helpful and on top of everything. Once again, thank you so much Youi that I felt cared for and protected.

House and content insurance. Next door neighbor had a house fire, our house was inundated with toxic smoke from the fire, Youi offered NO HELP as their policy does not cover smoke and soot damage. Fire insurance that does no cover smoke and soot, what a joke. "Well save you", pigs crap! They could have made a claim on the neighbors insurance anyway, at no cost to them. Absolute disgrace! Do not believe an of their PR crap! It's only about them saving their dollars, instead in helping you out!
Online Quote Turns Into Endless Spam
I attempted to get an online quote for this insurer as I have with many and the second to last step involved pretending to send a pin to my mobile number yet it was never provided, it then asked to provide a number if a pin wasn't receive. No option to skip this step was provided, so I accepted and entered my phone number to verify and see the quote. Once done I was greeted with a page saying to expect a call within the next minute. Not wanting to take a call for a simple quote I declined. They clearly did not get the hint and continued to call...me through the remainder of the day and night while continuing to leave voicemails even after I blocked the contact number. For something as simple as an online quote I was very annoyed and would not recommend Youi because of this.
The advisor Holly Lynch was great
I spoke to Holly at length regarding changing our insurance to Youi. She was extremely thorough, professional and friendly.
Unfortunately we didn’t end up switching as our original policy was able to
match the coverage, but it was a pleasure to deal with Holly & I will def consider Youi next time.
Storm Damage and collapsed Ceiling
I lodged a Claim with Youi regarding Storm Damage to a Rental Property Managed By PK Property Management in Noosaville on the 2nd February 2021 due to a Collapsed internal Bathroom & Exterior Soffit sheets.An assessor from the Australian Building & Construction Group attended and Videoed the Respective damage interior and forwarded a Claim to Youi who Responded with a Low Ball cash Payout figure to Repair the damage caused by the leak But not the initial Roof Damage caused by the storm.

very bad customer service
Just got a phone call to discuss the quote today and the customer service lady called [Name Removed] was not happy when I refuse to provide residential address and she insists this is part of the process to get the quote and if I don't provide they won't give me a quote. I do not understand why you need my residential address as this is for my rental property and it has nothing to do with my home address. you can ask me all the details once I sign up with you but not to grab so much information from customers beforehand!!! she then hung up on me!! what a customer service!!. go elsewhere never use Youi.
Cannot get a quote without been harrassed
I was doing a review of our home and contents insurance and thought it would be worth seeing what Youi could do. Well isn't that fun, you cant casually review anything, unlike all their competitors they start harassing you the minute you want to simply look at the quote. Hit the review quote and you are forced to enter a mobile number to send you a code, once you have that code you are subjected to phone call after phone call. I reviewed our insurance with around 10 other companies today, I scrubbed Youi off the list just simply because I find ...their approach aggressive, off putting and it was much easier to review other quotes in peace. Don't go their, you will regret it and if you were hoping for an online quote experience you do not get that!
Water penetration and damp issue claim
The Youi assessor made a decision of "no insurable event to claim" without even to find out the actual cause of the water penetration and damp issue.
Youi cancelled their building inspector work because they relied on those inspection reports that under client own arrangement. Which they believe those reports are favourable to Youi but only in the way they interpreted.
