I hunted for a good one for years - now my daily driver – When I moved to Australia from the UK, the thing I was going to miss most was my Alfa Romeo 156 3.2L Busso V6, what I really wanted was a ALFA GT with the same engine, but they were even more expensive here and were behind the UK on imports. Well 14 years later, I found my ALFA GT - red leather interior. a few fixes and she is a real beauty and… Read more
at 14 years old, she is a real sleeper with -(237 bhp; 177 kW) @ 6200 rpm 300 Nm (221 lbft) @ 4800 rpm and top speed 243 km/h (151 mph)
Not a poor mans Ferrari – 2006 Alfa GT...Rosso Red, Tan leather, absolutely spotless and gorgeous from every angle.I bought mine after it had had unfortunately had been serviced by a non Alfa garage and knew I was in for a new clutch. Had it serviced and checked top to bottom by an Alfa legion in Adelaide and once the new clutch, slotted brake discs and engine mounts had… Read more
been replaced it was a new car. Responsiveness from the flappy paddles was instant and its a system that is shared with Ferrari, the only difference being the horsepower on tap....the V6 Alfa is the one you want if you want grunt, but the 2.0 litre is plenty punchy enough for engaging hills driving. I never drove it in City mode, so fuel economy was never a strong point but an average of 10 litres per hundred was still pretty good for a sports car.
Handling and looks are real strong points and with two long legged daughters there was ample room in the back seat in a car that for all its sporty intentions is quite spacious. Fit aftermarket reversing sensors as the rear vision isn't that flash but its got everything else in terms of tech and a really nice cabin with sensation seats. A gorgeous car with none of the Alfa niggles of the old Alfettas and GTs, and there is nothing that compares for the price. Just get yourself a good Alfa mechanic, preferrably Italian, and you'll have the next best experience to a Ferrari.
Pros. Looks, handling, interior cockpit design, and that delightful Alfa sound.
Cons. In the hands of a good Alfa mechanic, no more expensive to maintain than anything German and much more fun.
Good – For those of us who truley love our Alfas what can I say the "cons" are never going to out away the pluses. You need to fall in love with it first. ( which isn't hard! ) A truly beautiful Italian model - has to be one of the best looking cars on the road today. Has the style and feel of a true sports car - yet unlike others in its category or… Read more
in the Alfa family great practicality of the hatch and useable back seat. Just great to drive - responsive and sharp when you need it. Ok it's an Alfa so issue of costs - value / repairs etc are there. The instrument panel and controls are now a bit dated. And resale value hmmm
