There’s a veery small hole in the side of the bowl of my soft serve maker. It leaks out the freezing liquid constantly. Is this what it’s supposed to do? So far (it’s a week old) it’s leaked out almost 105 mils: should I return it?

Does anyone have a dead/dying ambiano ice cream maker? A friend bought one new but the mixing paddle was missing :(

CJC

We brought ours back & got a refund. It didn't get cold enough & was useless! Get a refund, they don't work properly with or without the paddle!

Don

Thank you CJC, was yours the round or the square design? Mine works incredibly well, so it sounds like one model might have been a lemon? Anyway, I’ll pass on to our friends. Thank you again

I know this is not the same product but I could find anywhere else to ask. I have an aldi ambiano soft serve ice cream maker and have lost the recipe booklet is there any way / any where I can find an electronic copy? Other similar questions say go to the store and ask but as this product was a temporary product I don't think that is a viable solution.

Have a recipe booklet now that I’d be happy to share.

Vanilla essence Pure icing sugar Full cream milk Whipping cream Egg yolks

Lillian C.

How much liquid to put in as the box says 1.5 lt and the book says 600 ml

carefulbuyer
carefulbuyer

The machine makes up to 1.5 litres of ice cream, which is the capacity of the bowl.

The recipe specifies the amount of milk needed to make the ice cream.

I hope this helps you to reconcile the two references

Thank you I thought the first time I tryed it looked like it could make a lot more. Thanks

You will find that as you vary ingredients and add to the base recipe you will end up with more in your machine.

From the Manual ... "Place the freezer bowl into a sufficiently large freezer bag" What is a "freezer bag"? For what purpose?

Megan P.
Megan P.

You can buy freezer bags at the supermarket, they’re just normal plastic bags really Unsure of purpose in this context

Brandysnap
Brandysnap

The freezer bowl has to be put in the freezer prior to churning ice-cream. if this is at room temperature its not going to work. Placed churning bowl in freezer when not in use so its ready if you chose to make ice-cream on a whim. Placer it in a freezer bag to protect it.

Nomad
Nomad

@Megan P. The ONLY reason I asked my stupid questions was for clarification as other answers regarding a "freezer bag" stated that this was NOT negotiable, with no clarification given. If the instructions stated to "use a plastic bag to protect the bowl while in the freezer" then that would have been obvious. @Brandysnap I do understand why the bowl needs to be frozen etc I have no spare space to leave the bowl in my freezer to make ice cream on a whim so thanks for your factual response which is of no real use to me ;-)

Can I skip putting the churner in a freezer bag to freeze?

carefulbuyer
carefulbuyer

You need to put the freezer bowl in the freezer, otherwise it won’t work!

Megan P.
Megan P.

Yep, got that part but it says to put it in a FREEZER BAG. Just wondered if this was necessary

carefulbuyer
carefulbuyer

Yes

Brandysnap

You have to put the churner in the freezer or the ice cream wont solidify and will be a liquid mess. Whether you put it in a freezer bag is up to you. I suspect its for cleanliness/hygiene purposes. I would leave churner in freezer at all times so its ready whenever you wish to make ice-cream

Nomad
Nomad

The real answer is that it protects the inside of the bowl. A normal old plastic bag will do. Everyone talks in riddles around here.

Rod
Rod

The bag is probably to keep moisture / condensation from forming in the inside of the ice cream freezer bowl. The ice crystals may interfere with the paddle churning the ice cream mixture and add ice crystals to the ice cream making it taste not as good as it should be. As for the bag, I haven't used it yet. but haven't let it sit in the freezer for very long without using it in a day or two. The long and short of it is if you keep it in the freezer for extended time I would definitely use the plastic bag to keep it dry and frozen ( about -5 degrees is best ). Makes great Ice cream!

If you go online and type Ambiano ice cream maker, one of the options that comes up is Ambiano ice cream maker instructions, or manual. It's in pdf format so you can either copy it onto paper, or print it.
