Cannot recommend this card for international travel if you need a dependable card. WHY: I was on holiday with my family in Europe over Christmas, and the ANZ falcon technology falsely flagged my buying tickets to Disneyland Paris as a fraudulant transaction, leading to the card being blocked for use for the entire 4 week trip. POOR SERVICE: … Read more

When i rang to get the card reinstated, the equally unhelpful and unfriendly ANZ contact person on the telephone helpline was unable to reinstate my card and expected me to recount every minutiae of previous bank transactions by heart while i was at a busy French train station on Xmas eve Dec 2025. If it hadn't had my Wise card on me as a backup, i would have not been able to pick up my rental car that evening and would have been stuck that night. I cancelled the ANZ frequent traveller black card as soon as i got back to Australia. Check out the final invoice ANZ sent me, too. It's for an interest of 93 cents. Ridiculous.

The set up is extremely painful, having to call up to get a CRN and then being forced to go to a branch to do ID. No wonder ANZ is losing out to newer up start banks. Rude staff and atrocious technology. Show details

Activating my new card was a long and slow process with over 30 minutes on the phone to talk to someone. To add insult to injury, my wife who is the secondary card holder went in to an ANZ branch to get her ID checked and was told by the teller that someone would contact her to get her a CRN. This never happened. As I am writing this review, we… Read more

are again waiting for over 30 minutes to get a CRN and be able to set up a PIN. This is extremely poor customer service and a very poor system to get you up and running. To set up the ANZ App, you will need a CRN, which in our experience is painful. We had a Virgin high flyer card before this one and their customer service was excellent. I will be going back to Virgin as soon as this one expires

Horrible fraud screening system – Appalling customer service and ridiculous fraud system that blocked my CC for a $1k groceries spend over a 15k limit what a sick joke. I was standing hopeless at the checkout of Coles like a loser with an unusable card and staff member standing by. Never been humiliated this way by any other major banks in Aus. Phone servicing average waiting time… Read more

is 10min and the customer service is nonexistent. After I verified the transaction nothing happened after an hour and card remained blocked. Not recommend this product at all…

What a bank! Primed for success – I have $tens of millions in net assets and the folk at ANZ rely on a team based in India that rejected my credit card application twice. For my last application I got my accountant involved and he stated that they didn't know the basics. Way to go ANZ.

Be sure you are prepared for poor service before you offer them your business – Since ANZ offshored card assessment it’s a royal pain. Long wait times, no communication, assessors who don’t understand income, automated emails that don’t make sense. I got asked how I can be working full time and yet have annual leave showing on my payslip. I’ve tried most providers and sadly ANZ are now worst in the AU credit card market. Show details

Disgraceful customer service and practices – Well i havent done a bank review yet but im loading up and going to give the ANZ bank both barrels. Both my partner and i have tried to apply for their rewards card and after from handing over our first born, having absolutely no debt, a triple AAA credit rating and many hard earned assets....denied!! Have supplied all info required and their… Read more

constant questioning and booking of calls is the poorest service i have experienced. On further investigation we have found that the bank has supplied these cards to many that are at a greater risk of not paying before the 55 day fee free timeframe. Is it just me or does this feel like the ANZ might see us as a high risk that they wont make any money out of us so they have denied the card? Dodgy I feel. Update… I supplied further details on my financials and still not good enough for the black rewards card… however apparently my financials were good enough for the platinum card!!! So what’s the difference…. The rewards!! How disgraceful is this? It seems that if they feel you’re not going to pay them interest then you have no chance of getting this black rewards card…. Cmon ACCC…surely this is a dodgy practice

Long wait for approval – 2.5 weeks since I submitted my application and necessary documentation. Numerous texts received requesting me to reply with my availability (Date and time) for them to call me for further clarification. I responded to every single text with date and time, however, no one called. It's been 2.5 weeks now. Most other cards have the application approved within 2-3 days. Show details

Terrible experience – Terrible customer service. I tried to chase the refund from the merchant after I canceled my trip. I was told that it was not refunded twice in 5 week and was advised to contact the merchant which took hours to contact merchant and ANZ . I finally found out that the money was refunded but ANZ hold the money and then sent it back to the merchant… Read more

again. Then, I was told to chase the merchant without giving me any transactions number even when I asked them . When I tried to contact the merchant, they said they can’t see any transactions and asked me to present the transactions number. Total waste of my time and money!

Unable to cancel my credit card – I have been with ANZ for a number of years and paid a premium annual fee for a credit card that had good rewards and travel insurance. After getting whacked with another large annual fee we decided it was time to review some other options and found another card that was cheaper and had all the insurance and reward features we wanted. I'm now… Read more

trying to cancel the ANZ credit card according to instructions on the ANZ website - I have tried twice via ANZ internet banking and I've also submitted the online form. They are "unable to process my request" and if I still wish to progress the request I have to contact them again. Why make it so hard ANZ? Going to miss my fees?

Best card we have owned – This is probably the best card we have used. Great credit limit, low fees and the support via telephone is quick and no waiting queues. We used this card in NZ a few weeks back and had no issues. The fees were reasonable. We have banked with ANZ for at least 2 decades now. The points system is good. Basically, the way we see it is we do our normal shopping and earn points, therefore, get free things :) Show details

Works well for me – I never previously had a Credit Card before. The only reason i have the card is mainly for the points system. I had a 75000 rewards points scheme. I have used the Card overseas. I just called the bank before we departed and had no issues with it. Points system is so easy, i have redeemed heaps of gift vouchers. Show details

Good Rewards Credit Card – Rewards program is easy to use and the electronic gift cards come immediately. Great option if they are offering extra points upon sign up or if it comes free with your home loan or other services you have with them. Points per dollar is quite good as well. Also great for travel insurance as it comes with the card and is quite easy ti claim. Show details

Good limit, Travel Insurance included, Good rewards – Been using ANZ Black Rewards credit card since 2015. Initial 1 year was without any annual fee and came with an offer of 75,000 points if I spend $7500 in 3 months which I did. I've been able to extract approx. $800 dollars based on redwards dollars accumulated since 2015. Had an instance where I'd to cancel overseas ai travel and was able to get… Read more

a pending refund of fees which was not refunded by the air travel agency. It happened over 2 phone calls to QBE which manages or cover insurance on ANZ credit cards.

As this card is attached to my mortgage, I'm able to get ANZ home loan specialists to waive the annual fee as part of annual interest rate revision.

If you are getting this card with conditions that the annual fee can be waived then its a good card otherwise check other credit cards.

ANZ rewards black insurance - brilliant – Recently made a claim for travel insurance received on my rewards black card. The best turnaround time I have ever received. Under 2 hours total turn around time to accept and pay the claim. Thank you. Amazing

Fees and less service – I have the ANZ black and used to have the Amex tied to this - ANZ decided to stop that relationship but did not reduce the fees - so now you get less and pay the same. This has bothered me for a long time and despite looking at other options the banks all work so hard to make the limits on things non comparable. I haven't changed as its… Read more

confusing. The RC into Banking is still happening but some of these basic issues don't have a bleeding heart story attached to them so no one hears or cares.

Complementary airport lounge – I recently travelled to New Zealand. I thought I would utilise the "complementary airport lounge passes" through my ANZ REWARDS BLACK card. . After calling ANZ to find out which company they use, I signed up with Veloce. Only to discover they had no lounges in both New Zealand or Australia. (ANZ Bank = Australia, New Zealand) After browsing… Read more

through the Veloce website to see where they do have lounges I was very disappointed to also see they don't have one on Bali either.

It is a well known fact that Australian's top travel destinations are New Zealand and Bali.

I contacted the ANZ bank via the feedback form on their website to express my dismay regarding this matter. I finally got a response from one of the ANZ team stating they would look into it and closed the complaint. The offered me $100 in compensation which was put onto my card.

If you are looking for a card that offers 'complementary airport lounge passes' to not sign up for this card!
