BUYER BEWARE - YOUR CREDIT RECORD WILL BE DAMAGED – Prior to applying, I had reasonably decent credentials: credit scores of 1000+ across multiple creditors; income of $250k+; never later with payments; good debt/income ratio. My application was declined, with no reason provided. All credit scores now down across the board 200+ points. Better cards out there with more transparency. Suggest avoiding. Show details
A real shocker – I cannot believe I am now someone who is writing a review for something but here we are. I got onto an Amex Credit Card with QANTAS frequent flyer bonuses and QANTAS flight credit. They are so unbelievably disorganized. The card is only accepted with a few stores in Australia. The flight credit forces you to book through Amex Travel, which is an… Read more
incredibly clunky website that is impossible to navigate. Have had to change my flight date and it has taken me hours over the phone and on their terrible website. Seriously, do not bother with Amex Australia. Not worth the unbelievable amount of hassle.
Awful and should be sued for sharing customer data with 3rd parties – Be careful of their special partnership and promotional offers with third parties for cardholders that they advertise as a value add for customers. In fact, they are sharing your personal information with other businesses and in some cases your credit card details. If you are not reading T&C's properly they will not take any responsibilities down… Read more
the road either. I have personally been charged fees for a subscription after a year that I clicked without reading the terms properly. But I never gave my credit card details to that 3rd party organization directly either. Apparently it all happens at the back end. Not sure how they can get away with this. Sharing with you so that you don't make the same mistakes as I did.

Amex Offer Can't Be Trusted – Made a purchase using the link provided in the Amex offer page, and I've surprisingly been told it's not eligible for the offer because using the 3rd party platform for the purchase. Tried to contact the customer service 5 times, and each time they promised to do further investigation, but each time after they will repeat the same result… Read more
(ineligible due to 3rd party purchase).
But I never get any proper explanation why this could happen using the link in the Amex app.
And the funnies thing is in the last online chat, the customer service suggested the way to see if the offer works is that customers make a purchase and see if they get the credits. In another word, customers should be responsible for debugging the Amex system with their real money.
As a customer, I don't have resources to investigate whose mistake is this between Amex and the Merchant, and in the normal situation why I should care? because I trust, or, used to trust the Amex. But this trust seems no longer exist
Nice rewards – This is a great card to have as there are no annual fees. As long as you're not spending frivolously and you're paying your statement on time, you will have no issues. I use this card for most of my purchases as I earn Qantas Points for each dollar spent. As I'm using it on stuff I'd normally buy without the card, it's really a bonus. Best of… Read more
all with AmEx is they have very generous cashback offers - for example if you spend $20 at a small merchant you'll get $10 cashback (campaign known as Shop Small).
The only disadvantage with AmEx overall is the fees they charge merchants compared to Visa/Mastercard/EFTPOS transactions. This has resulted in some merchants refusing to accept AmEx or imposing a fee on AmEx transactions. Sometimes, the fees negate the Qantas Points rewards so it's better off to just pay through Visa/Mastercard/EFTPOS, unless of course you're taking advantage of a cashback offer.
The interest rate is 20.74% which is crazy compared to alternatives from other institutions which charge around 10%, but as mentioned, don't spend frivolously and pay your statement on time and you won't have to worry about that.
No Annual fees and no catches! – The first card that I applied for with Amex. What made me apply for it was the privilege of using this card with no annual fee and be able to accumulate points that go to Qantas frequent flyer. You can use this card at Woolworth to pay for your grocery and earn 1 point for every dollar spent. And as an extra bonus if you spend over $30 at… Read more
woolworths make sure you scan your everyday card to get more points. I got my 7.5K starter points when I spent $300 on the card in the first month. Some other places where I got extra points were spending at Dan Murphies, Big W and Dick Smith Electronics. I'm thrilled that these places accept American Express and the everyday rewards card. I recommend taking up the Qantas Discovery Card with the woolworths everyday loyalty card. No annual fees and complimentary reward program with 1:1 transfer rate Points are tied exclusively with Qantas and if the airline goes insolvent like Air Australia or Ansett you lose your vouchers and loyalty credits

Best Charges Protection – I am very thankful for the easy and good supply received by AMEX as it seems that in today's circumstances there are more and more fake and fraudulent charges that appear on my credit card or that a purchase I made never gets delivered as it was fake in the first place. The online system is very easy and when not sure I can also online Chat or… Read more
phone and always receive the help and solution needed. A big THANK YOU to American Express - I never leave home without you.
No customer service – Had a question regarding my complimentary insurance. No one could answer it over the weekend. In the end I just paid and bought my own insurance. Paying $450 a year in fees, I expect better. Show details
Good value for no annual fee – I signed up years ago only for the free bonus points offered. I have stuck with the card now just for the bonus offers linked to certain retailers offering spend $x get $x refund to card. Looses a star for the recent devalue in Qantas points under 1 Point/ $1 . I would give 5 stars if restored the 1 for 1 Show details
Good offers, Qantas points, no annual fee – This is a great basic no annual fee credit card if you want to earn Qantas points. I really like the cashback offers that pop up regularly in the app. I use my card with Apple Pay and more places are now accepting Amex. The app is easy to use. There's no fee to add a supplementary card, which makes it easy for other family members to use too. Highly recommended. Show details
My card of choice – The frequent promotions for American Express cash back are really good when keeping an eye on the best price for items on your purchase wish list. No annual fee is how cards should be. Show details
Never leave home without it – Great card and an asset to have in my wallet, with regular bonus spends in all my favorite stores this pays for it self. No annual fee makes this my go too card. Show details
My favourite credit card – This is my go to credit card, no annual fee, Qantas frequent flyer points with ever purchase. And great customer service. Only downside is using it overseas, they stick you with poor FX conversion as well as a commission. Show details

Love it! – Great card for perks and bonus points. Easy application which was approved very quickly. The no annual fee is awesome. So far I have no complaints what so ever. Will be keeping this card Show details
Best free annual fee credit card – This could be one of probably not the best but in overall is the best credit card with perks and earn reward points for annual fee free for life. I will give this a 5 stars card but since the points system changed since last year 2018, it just not generate as much and as fast as how it used to be, but still a good card. The only downside is… Read more
probably this card doesn't come with complimentary travel insurance as many higher level cards do, but pretty much still does its job when comes to daily use, and online purchasing. If you can afford rather to get the ultimate version (comes with complimentary insurance & lounges access), however to me, i would love to have both, their perks are lovely.
Best no annual fee credit going around – You get more points than from Any other no annual fee CC. At the same time offers like spend 500 get 150 back from Sony. Fuel offer spend 50 get 15 back etc.. Best to read the term and conditions carefully on the offers. Show details
Everyone should have one of these – The card has $0 annual fees and still comes packed with bonuses. The most obvious are Qantas frequent flyer points, but even better are the regular American Express cash-back offers for selected merchants. Promotions like shop-small. Can't fault them. And if there are any questions, their customer service is very helpful and prompt. Show details
Good Deals and Credit Back without the Annual Fees – Easy to transfer my balance to this credit card. Rewards available to me is good. Many good deals as AMEX is trying to push publicity and promotions, a lot of good cashback deals. Easy to accumulate points and is converted to my Qantas Rewards points. The only downside is AMEX is still not accepted everywhere but is definitely getting more… Read more
recognised. But sometimes it has a higher surcharge than other cards at times. The app was easy to use on mobile as well.
Free and rewarding! – Had this card since 2012. Free to have. Haven't paid a single cent on it due to no annual fees & avoiding interest by paying my statement on time. Customer service is great too. Used many offers via statement credits. I haven't experienced international transaction fees, only a commission they charge with the money exchange. I did not transfer my… Read more
balance therefore can't comment on that. Rewards program is great for a free card (QFF). Easy to redeem points via Qantas shop. Easy to accumulate too - it auto transfers your balance to your QFF account.
No fees, AMEX rewards and Qantas points – For a card with no fees to pay this is a great one to have in your wallet. You can leverage any useful AMEX deals and be rewarded with Qantas points on your spending. Definitely a keeper!
Set and forget - good to have in your back pocket – I've had this card since 2016. It's a basic Amex card with its main selling point being that is has no annual fees. As a result, this is also reflected in the services which are offered. Points earning is average at best - there are better cards out there, however again, expectations must be managed in the context of an absent annual fee. … Read more
Redemption of points has been flawless, and I have never had an issue with Amex failing to credit points earned.
I have not used this card overseas as I believe there are better options when it comes to transactions in international currencies. I did not transfer any balance to this card when I started.
Great card to have each November when Amex roll out their Shop Small offers - $10 back on purchases over $20, redeemable up to 5 times per card!
Free rewards? – Free rewards? But at what cost? Fees are huge over other providers but free if you pay your limit off month to month. I’m happy with the card because the rewards are great but I’d like to see rates change in line with other providers. Show details

Love it ! So useful – It’s a great credit card as it has no annual fees and we can use it internationally. Amex provides discounts and offers from different companies and they have been extremely useful Show details
Great entry AMEX card – Great everyday AMEX credit card. Not as many perks as the other AMEX cards you can get, but the statement credit offers and no annual fee make it worth it. Show details
Decent credit card – I am decently satasfied with the credit card. A positive of the card is that you get flyer miles which is a always good. However a negative of the card is that it is American Express and as a result is can't be used everywhere or you have to pay a extra fee. Overall I would rate this a 3/5 Show details
Good Qantas AMEX card with no annual fee! – This is a great card in my opinion as you can earn Qantas Flyer Frequent points while paying no annual fee. The ratio is 0.75 per $1 spent which is not the best on the market but considering no annual fee, you can’t really complaint. I also like the special offers from AMEX including the shop small promotion in November. Show details
Great credit card to use overseas. Good offers! – Enjoyed using this card overseas. Had no dramas and you don't have to tell them or give them a ring before you go to another country. The app is extremely easy to use which is the thing I love the most as well as the offers that AMEX does with their cards.
Great customer service, lots of perks every month – American Express always offers really good phone and online live chat customer services. Balance transfer was really simple and quick though I don't really have to use this feature on any credit card that I've owned really. Their reward programs have to be one of the best as they don't just create it because most if not everybody else does, they… Read more
actually put into the efforts to help promoting businesses and reward card holders, the November Shop Small is an epic one that every Amex card holder loves, not to mention the generous BP app offers.
Point-wise, it used to be hard to accumulate as many retailers didn't accept Amex or may charge a higher percentage of surcharge, but nowadays these seems to have gone. Definitely recommend Amex cards if you haven't tried before. In fact, I've helped my sister and wife to sign up one already.
Very good – Good card with qantas reward points and no annual fees. However some places don’t accept Amex or charge a transaction fee, so it’s best to have a second card that is visa or MasterCard. Show details
problem free but would expect more vendor endorsement – I have been using this credit card for quite a few years and it became a main credit card for my family's routine transactions. It was generally problem free when used either in Australia or overseas. The transaction and payment functions are quite straight forward using Amex website or its app, but the app is not as sophisticated as those ones… Read more
created by the big banks. It is easier to accumulate Qantas points than most visa and master cards but appeared to have less vendors accepting it or charging at a higher surcharge than its competitors. In general I would recommend if you are into gathering Qantas points.
Great card – Service is really good. They were able to answer all of my questions easily before I applied for the card. Easy process with friendly staff. Fees and charges reasonable. Happy with card. Show details
Very handy with bonus FF points – There has been no fees with this credit card which is an absolute bonus (as long as the full balance is paid in time monthly). Qantas frequent Flyer points are earned on purchases at a better rate than lots of other cards. Was a little bit of mucking around to set up direct debit, etc but was all worth it in the long run. Great customer service! – When my old c/c fees jumped to $150, after 38 years with them decided to look for a no-frills card and came upon this AMEX card. No fees, accumulates Qantas points, and on the 2 occasions I've had to contact their customer support, have always been VERY satisfied with their responses. I find now that unlike years ago, most larger retailers accept them with no extra charges, so I back up with a debit card. Would highly recommend. Show details
Ideal for what I need - bonus is the Qantas points – I got the Amex Qantas card initially because most car hire companies want a credit card for their deposit. But now I use it for most purchases. In the past Amex was not accepted in many places, but now it is accepted almost everywhere (but not Aldi so we now shop at Coles/Woolies). Unlike Diners which is still not generally accepted, Amex has changed and the card is accepted in many more places than I knew about. Show details
Great Card with no fee – Great card for earning Qantas frequent flyer points. Have also had access to other amex promotions such as Shop Small. No issues with using this card overseas and fx rates were quite good. Show details
