Using the Apple AirPods Max feels like stepping into a very premium version of everyday listening. After spending time with these over ear headphones, the experience stands out not only because of the sound but also because of the build quality and overall design. The first thing that impressed me was the construction. Unlike many wireless… Read more

headphones that rely heavily on plastic, the AirPods Max use stainless steel ear cups and a mesh headband that immediately feels solid and high end. The materials give the headphones a luxurious feel, although they are noticeably heavier than many competitors. Despite the weight, the mesh headband distributes pressure quite well, so wearing them for an hour or two remains comfortable.

Sound quality is easily one of the highlights. Music sounds clear, detailed, and well balanced. The custom 40 mm drivers produce deep bass, smooth mids, and crisp highs without distortion, even at higher volumes. Listening to different genres such as rock, electronic, or podcasts feels immersive because the soundstage is wide and instruments are easy to distinguish.

Another feature that really improves the experience is the active noise cancellation. When using the headphones in a noisy environment like public transport or a busy café, most background noise disappears. Multiple microphones monitor outside sounds and adjust the cancellation in real time, creating a calm and focused listening environment. Transparency mode is equally useful, letting outside sound pass through naturally when you need to hear your surroundings.

Using them within the Apple ecosystem also feels effortless. Pairing with an iPhone or Mac is instant, and switching between devices is seamless. The Digital Crown control, similar to the one on the Apple Watch, makes adjusting volume or controlling playback very intuitive.

Battery life is solid but not exceptional. With noise cancellation enabled, the headphones typically last around 20 hours of listening time, which is enough for several days of regular use. Fast charging helps as well, giving additional listening time after only a short charge.

Of course, there are a few downsides. The headphones are expensive compared to many alternatives, and their weight can become noticeable during very long sessions. The included carrying case is also somewhat unusual in design and does not offer the same protection as traditional hard cases.

Overall, the Apple AirPods Max deliver a premium listening experience with excellent sound quality, strong noise cancellation, and seamless Apple device integration. They may not be the most affordable headphones on the market, but for users deeply invested in the Apple ecosystem who want a refined and immersive audio experience, they are a very satisfying piece of technology.

My AirPods Max have amazing sounds. My experience is that it stands out from other headphones on the market. The audio quality is incredibly impressive. Has decent bass and clear highs that make listening to edm or classical music, podcast etc. Also the connection to the rest of my apple products just makes life a breeze Show details

Great product until the firmware fails and it’s a costly repair at $469. For a product that costs nearly $1000 to purchase brand new, the out of warranty repair is steep and way above a lot of people’s budgets. Around half the price of a new set, I think it’s far too much. Mine are 4 years old and only had light use in comparison to how others use… Read more

them. Work one day and not the next. Will not connect and will not reset to factory settings. Not happy and debating binning them for a cheaper pair.

Not worth for money – The sound quality is not up to the price. Some times the dial is not responsive Show details

Unfortunately the best headphones I've ever owned – These are without a doubt the best headphones I've ever owned. I use these for my phone, laptop and windows PC, and it seamlessly moves between them with no issues. The sound quality is phenomenal, the sound cancellation is fantastic, and the transparency mode feels like witchcraft. That all the processing to allow audio through happens on the… Read more

headphones feels insane, but somehow they've managed to make it all work perfectly.

The downside is that these are also by far the most expensive headphones I've ever purchased, easily 3x the price of my previously purchased headphones. It's not an easy price to stomach, and if the headphones themselves weren't so absurdly well made, it'd be very easy to regret my purchase. If you're on the fence about purchasing these and you're balking at the cost, I can say that for me at least, they're worth the cost. Everyone's financial situation is different, but for me they are worth more than what I paid.

The battery lasts quite a while (charged every other day with an 8hr daily use) and they are incredibly comfortable. My partner was out of town for a work trip recently and I ended up wearing them essentially all day, and even after wearing them for around 15 hours they still felt comfortable, sat nicely on my ears, and didn't feel cramped or sweaty. The headset is a little weighty, but the cups sit on the ear in a way that distributes the weight well and the headband carries the rest.

I listen to a wide array of stuff on these, including uni lectures, discord calls, phone calls, gaming, tv shows, music, podcasts, audiobooks. All of them have sounded fantastic, and music in particular sounds nice and bassy while still being easily intelligible. I've noticed stuff in songs I know that I didn't previously hear, purely because the headphones are doing such a good job of rendering the audio. I've used these while cleaning around the house/hanging up laundry, and I wasn't worried about them falling off or being dislodged in some way.

The experience is best with mac hardware, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the headphones work perfectly with my windows PC as well. Connecting was as simple as adding a bluetooth device, and the range remains as good with my PC as it is with my phone and laptop. The sound cancellation is also fantastic and reduces background noise SIGNIFICANTLY, to the point where I was sitting next to a very high speed fan on the highest setting and heard no background noise at all. Some noises still make their way through, but overall they are shockingly quiet.

The only problem with these headphones is the price, but the price makes sense given the quality of the product. Personally I feel the price is appropriate, but that's a decision you'll have to make on your own as to whether you feel comfortable spending. If you do happen to buy a pair, I doubt you will regret it. I certainly haven't.

Great sound quality but bit heavy – Been using the AirPods Max for about a year now (almost daily). Best noise cancellation (better than Sony XM4) but is definitely on the heavy side. Once you get used to the heaviness, the sound cancelling, sound quality and connectivity is definitely worth the price. Show details

Pure brilliance destroyed by one massive design flaw – Read any review by big companies and you will find consistent praise for the truly stunning sound quality of these headphones. Even the comfort. Fantastic. I did not even mind the “carry case” as pathetic as it was. However none of theses reviews come from users who’ve owned them a while. Here’s the flaw. Obviously this is going to Cary from… Read more

person to person and place to place. But for me, massive. The cups are made of a beautiful metal. This unfortunately seems responsible for moisture buildup up inside the cups and ended up causing electrical issues and eventually complete failure of the product. Do some research snd suddenly you find a lot of people seeing this and returning their product. They were hard to part with I can assure you but they are an impossible product to own or care for because of this flaw. Hopefully Apple will address this in the next iteration and I will be first in line if they do.
