I can say, the iPhone 12 mini is not as reliable. After only 2.5 years the battery health is @<80%; it gets hot when I speak on messenger or use data for longer than an hour or so; I’ve had it looked at by a specialist and she said she can find nothing wrong; but then the size is good, it fits easily into pockets of a tote and/or clothing. However, for the past 6 months or more I am disappointed and I don’t know if I’ll upgrade to another iPhone. I might switch to Samsung Galaxy which was the loan phone JBHiFi gave me when my iPhone 12 mini needed repair (well, I thought it needed repair but the repairer said ‘noooo’.)
A shame.
I am a loyal customer to Apple products (desktops, laptops, iPads, iPhones) for over 20 years. But the value for money over that time has dropped and keeps dropping, year after year. That is, generally, Apple has attended to aesthetic goals, cover boards, being used to sell the products, up and against operational and functional aspects. So their eye for functional detail is left behind. A fatal mistake, if you ask me.
Fix the battery for iPhone 12 mini issues – Purchased this phone after an amazing iPhone 6S hoping it would be just as good or better than the 6S. Purchased the iPhone miNi 12 February 2021 $1398 including Apple care $199. Battery drops about 15-20% per 30 minute phone call.. and then when its dropped down to 30-40% and I try and charge it up for my next meeting, it tells me charging is paused until temperature is reduced. My iPhone 8 never did this. Today I was on back to back calls for 1 1/2 hours and it overheated completely, gave me the temperature warning, and basically hung up on my boss mid meeting. Took about half an hour before i could use it again, and it needed charging. I have since gone back to the iPhone 8 for my work phone and it works like a dream. Had another 1 1/2 hours of meetings via teams without any temperature issues.
I have done research on this phone and teams and there is no known issue. The standard response seems to be “your phone will heat up when doing labour intensive processes”. This is the first and only iPhone I’ve ever had issues with Teams, having used an iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 without a problem.
It also gets quite warm when charging which I’ve not had before.
I’m not sure if I’ve been given a dud, but I think if you’re a heavy phone user or wanting to use it for work and personal, involving MS Teams, try a different model. My experience hasn’t been great.

It is not perfect; it is sometimes stuck and glitchy, so I need to shut it down forcefully – The camera is ok; I would not say 100%, as I am giving 70% that some images are blurry. I am satisfied with the durability and brightness of the display. I use it to check email, take photos and videos, use maps, and watch TV. Don’t expect much battery life from this phone – Everything about this phone is fine except the battery life. of socials, news, chats, some Spotify and GPS. If this sounds like you- don’t get this phone. I have to plug the phone in in the afternoon/evening to recharge beforehand if I want to call anyone for a big chat. I would never dare to go on a drive of over 30 minutes using GPS without bringing a cable. My eyesight isn’t great anyway and the dark mode is killing me. Wish I’d just kept my iPhone 8 and saved a fortune!!!
I don’t usually write negative reviews but on this occasion feel compelled as I have called Apple and asked for a new battery. (Also because I feel really ripped off!) My phone was put through multiple tests and I was basically told the battery was working as expected. The irony here was that my battery plummeted in this one morning phone call from 100% down to 66% while speaking to them. Absolutely no exaggeration. Lol.

it off with a Belroy leather case, and couldn’t be happier. Initially I had bought an apple leather case and returned it for a refund as it wasn’t a tight fit, and was slipping slightly out of the phone and pushing the silent button to the ON position, where the phone was switching to silent mode nearly every day. There are no Android phones with similar size and performance. This is truly the only small flagship phone, period! I can live with the small screen 'coz I have my iPad or Macbook if I want a bigger screen.
Is it perfect? No. Other Android phones have moved to 90-120hz screens and notch-less screens. Battery is also smaller so there are days when it doesn't make it to night time but charging speed and wireless charing feature makes up for it. I also don't like that it doesn't come with a charger or earphones but I guess that's how flagship phones are nowadays.
