Looks good ... wouldn't buy another – 2012 Sportcity One 125cc. Purchased new. *Flat spot in carby *Electrical fuse next to battery corroded *Fuel line hoses split and leaked petrol *Frequent judder in clutch plate on take off ... was sanded at service but still doing it Apparently this is a common problem * Is a petrol guzzler for a 125cc ... not much more fuel efficient that a mini Car Would I recommend it? Nope Show details
Great scooter – What a great scooter, 300cc means its quite quick, comfortable to ride.Still gets along alright with two people also. Ive never had anything go wrong with it. Really strong brakes. Would recommend to anyone . Mine has more than 30,000 km now. 300 kilometres for 9 litres of fuel is good economy Show details
Great Scooter – This is great scooter, I'm riding it 5 years and more then happy with performance. It's fast and reliable. I'm very surprised that Aprilla don't sell it anymore. It's perfect for city ride - just love it. The flat floor is useful, can do easy 110 at highway, you dont need more then 300cc to ride in a city - love it! Show details
Sexy Batgirl styling – Bought new and had fun on this zippy sexy scooter for two seasons, about 1800 miles. The troubles then came fast, starting with electrical problems that were difficult to diagnose and expensive (two respected bike shops, as the aprilia dealers and service centers had already wisely bugged out). I ended up stranded about every third ride.… Read more
Ultimately the whole charging and ignition system had to be replaced. Then the fuel system started acting up. More time in the shop than out. Finally replaced fuel pump, which required another 6 hour shop fee, largely to fiddle with the cobbled together plastic cowling. Shop will not work on this machine again. Now there are transmission noises and hesitant performance. Two switches broke at my fingertips and key-ways have broken or gone wonky, and the seat no longer latches. Just passed 3k miles, so only able to use for 1200 miles in 6 years, with thousands in repairs and more summer days in the shop than on the parkway. Really poorly engineered, terrible quality, wasteful experience with this machine, currently will not idle. Still looks nearly new but conscience prevents sale, plan to demolish and dump as metal scrap.
Aprillia sport city one 125cc - a genuine lemon – I bought this scooter in 2011, brand new, and it is pretty much just finished at this point, so it was a few grand down the drain. I had trouble with this cheap China made scooter right from the get go. Horn worked on off after a few months, indicator switch was always a bit sticky, and the engine has never started as well as it should. The bike… Read more
also feels pretty plastic and cheaply made.
The fuel consumption is also terrible for a scooter, especially one that is only 125cc. I'd say it is about 4L/100km AT BEST. But after a year it was probably doing 5L/100km, it became quite a gas guzzler for such a little scooter. And Aprillia made sure to make the bike difficult to service as the oil filter and other such important bits are in awkward positions. If you want to add a trunk to the back it is also very expensive because the attachment has to be a custom Aprillia model and not a generic stock model that would fit many other scooters.
I took the bike in to be serviced regularly as well, so I wasn't neglecting it.
The only positive about this bike is that it is zippy as it can max out at 100k/h and it handles pretty well. But overall it is just style over substance.
Aprillia Sport City one 125cc 2010 model – Low kms second hand purchase. At 4000km the fuel line broke,(not a braided fuel line) fuel spilling onto hot exhaust. Had electrical problem with fuses blowing all the time , bike kept just stopping at random, dangerous especially on highway. Fuel gauge does not work.(generic sender unit , not designed for that bike, same unit used on new models… Read more
and same issue). Run out of fuel on highway, no where to get off. Hard work removing fairings and plastics to work on bike , design issues. Terrible ergonomics for a tall person, lack of padding in the seat for tall person ,back and shoulder pain. 4 litres per 100 kms average fuel. Indicator switch broke in first week. Flat spot in carbie off idol.
Great fun around the corners, 14 inch wheels great, brakes good, zippy engine with lighter rider. Top speed 100km/h. Excellent in busy traffic , saves time. Cost me lots of money and lost time fixing electrics , some parts are expensive , more expensive than my car to run, just saves time in traffic. Never be able to fix the fuel gauge issue, sender unit way to short for the deep tank. Can fit heaps of stuff on bike, groceries ,etc.
Aprilia Sport City Cube 300cc – Bought this Scooter almost 2 years ago and done just under 20.000 KM with it. I only use it to commute to work 47Km a day. It is a fantastic scooter and it has not missed a bit. It handles very well and respond faboulesly in general. I used 98 fuel and I manage to do just over 300 KM on a fuel tank, yes 300 Km with 9 liters !. I love that… Read more
scooters and would recommend it to anyone looking at buying a 250 or 300 CC. Fuel comsumption vs distance, torque is excellent and handling ! Can't fit full face helmet under seat but most scooter can't anyway.
Sportcity Cube 300 Street. Great scooter. Worth the money – Cube 300 Street. Twice the price of the Piaggo Fly 150 or Sym 150 but I do not regret and do not look back. Fabulous machine. I tried them all and despite the obvious extra power, everything felt perfect, riding position, space, location of the controls. Top box is required but you genuinely can go far and on the motorway where you can easily keep… Read more
up. Great for pillion too for space and comfort. Size (small), power and fabulous torque (280cc) , brakes, wheels Underseat storage small but that is understandable. Fuel gauge full until it is actually only a third full. Fuel cap under seat.
Aprilia Sportcity street 300 – A very good bike, good handling and braking, fast enough, good size wheels. Bad points are just exhaust is too quiet which increases risk of cars changing lanes into you and more, I am writing this after just being T boned at an intersection $3000+ damage. (I should be able to walk by my 80th birthday) The clutch is cheap and will wear out in a few months of stop start traffic. zippy exhaust way too quiet, over priced, cheap clutch. Show 2 replies
Sportscity Cube is a gem – As much as I was being pressured to get a 'trendy' Vespa, my heart was going for the Aprilia Sportscity 300. The big tyres attracted me as I thought Sydney's potholed roads would affect it less and I was right. This thing handles beautfully - easy & comfy to ride, great kilometre range (surprisingly I get more k's and more power from 95RON rather… Read more
than 98RON), lots of room - esp for 2, can fit a half face helmet below the seat, really quick - a brilliant buy really and thousands cheaper than the equivalent Vespa with exactly the same engine (Piaggio owns them both). Insurance is cheap too! Road holding, comfy, range, reliable, quick
aprilla sport city one 50cc – my name is Derek i have had over (8)50cc shooters in my time my first one was a (suzuki fa 50cc) how they have changed.iam very pleased with my aprilla it goes really well the speed is good to i love the smell of a two stroke.an the wind in your face. The style and colour
Terrible – Aprilia Sportcity One 125 2009 I purchased this bike for a small commuter however I have nothing but trouble from day one. I have had the bike for 3 months and have been back to the dealer 4 or more times for the same issues. The problems include: A fuel gauge that registers empty at 4 litre - the bike has a 6 litre tank with a 1.5 litre… Read more
reserve making it a 7.5 litres tank
A major loss in power resulting to fully open the throttle to achieve a maximum of 65km/h up a slight incline.
Once warm the bike will misfire from a standstill (so severely it will not move), on exiting corners, and under load - up a hill, WOT.
It stalls at sets of lights all the time. Also it has stalled when braking and in mid corner. I am just lucky no-one has been behind me when this has happened.
Overall Opinion of DEATH TRAP! Big tyres, big brakes, feels light and stable Questionable reliability

Aprilia Sportcity Street 50cc 2 Stroke 2011 – This has been my first scooter purchase. Needed something to get around the city for work purpose throughout the day. Went to a dealer intent on buying an Vespa LX50 but still wasn't sure if I wanted to pay the price they wanted. The sales guy ended up saying why not consider the Aprilia, which is also owned by Piaggio and has the same 2 stroke… Read more
engine fitted as the Vespa LX50.
I have done just over 500km so far and can say that I am very happy with it. The build quality is good (although the dash looks a bit Chinese quality). The brakes are excellent, handles well, starts every time and the overall build quality is high. I tested the first tank of fuel and averaged 23km per litre which I guess is a bit low but the engine is new and i accelerated quite heavily :) Performance wise it's ok, quite perky, i am running higher octane fuel which makes it a bit more zippy, basically the same performance as the vespa with a nice power curve on acceleration.
I can definetely recommend this scooter for city streets(but not big roads). Build quality, reliable, handling, modern design, price, scooter looks better in real life than on Aprilia website Dash looks a bit dull, indicator lamp could be angled more to see easier when flashing. Dealership sales process was terrible.
Excellent – Aprilia Sport city 250 is truly nice bike with excellent handling.Good acceleration..top speed I got out of it was only 128km/h.. but enough for quick overtaking. Size, Weight, Performance Too plasticky... Show reply
Excellent – Mine is a 2005/200cc. Has done 25,000kms and still running like a dream. Fantastic for zipping around the city, just as good out in the country and doing the twistys.I LOVE this bike!! Agile, great acceleration, handles freeways no trouble with plenty in reserve, big enough to be noticed, big wheels, comfortable seating
Excellent – I have the sportcity 250ie. I LOVE this scooter. It just feels right and it looks good. I get around 220K on a tank of gas (around 8 litres) powerful, visible, stable, great instrument set up
OK – I've purchased sportcity 125 as a replacement for Peugeot Speedfight II. Although I've only had the scooter for 100km. I've noticed that it's quieter, feels stiffer and alot less zippy off the mark. It FEELS like driving a Honda or a Corolla compared to something 'fun'. I miss the Pug already in terms of riding fun but I suspect that Sportcity… Read more
will be good for commuting b/c of it's narrowness and reasonable performance. I hate the footbed that sticks out. Perhaps I'll learn to like it but at the moment, I'd get the Pug back if it hadn't 3 years on it's plate and if Australian importer hadn't hone bankrupt.
As a reliable commuter =4/5
Fun=2 price, comfortable, reliable (so far), quiet not as zippy, stiff shock absorbers
Good – Aside from the swaying problem - I love it! It has the zip to pull off ahead of the traffic and the slim profile to slip between the cars when they're stopped at the lights. If I could just get the problem fixed, I'd be ecstatic! It's zippy and comfortable and a lot of fun to ride. I have a problem the dealer can't identify: after about 15… Read more
minutes of continuous riding in warm weather, it start to sway and I have to fight to keep it going straight. Any ideas why??
