Overpriced and poor life – The product was good at first (Year 1 and 2) however thereafter, there have been many problems. Every 6 months (after about 5 years) it blocks, leaks water and is not a sustainable solution. Every time it is fixed, the problem reappears at some point. Paying $300+ for a technician to appear (on 2-3 occasions) is not sustainable and in reality, Would avoid as I thought it was a great brand (but was clearly naive). Show details

The worst part if that the manufacturer has not reached out and has no real care about brand loyalty.

Asko D3122 – WA. Had a good run for 7 years. O ring seal from main water inlet leaking water into floor pan. Replaced O ring for $3 but still leaks, now I have noticed drip from main seal on pump. I had to replace water outlet hose for $80 and top draw roller bearing for $60. Had a technician out and couldn't get power, he suggested power board issues. Off to buy a Dishlex from Good Guys $550. Show details

PERFECT! – I had an Asko (then called ASEA) for 22 years and would have repaired the pump but thought it was time to get a new model. As we were thinking of moving house, it seemed to make more sense to buy a cheaper replacement for the time being so we purchased a Whirpool dishwasher instead. Well, I complained every day and regretted not having kept my old… Read more

Asko/Asea. I missed the extra space inside, the clever filter cleaning system and the lack of sparkle. When the Whirlpool stopped working just 1 month after the 2 year warranty expired, I was quite happy to get rid of it and get another Asko. It has been going now for 2 months and every day I say ' I love my dishwasher' and I do. I especially love the cutlery basket and the fact that you can just put it anywhere in the rack and am still amazed every morning that the improved filter system remains spotless due to the clever way the food scraps are flushed out. Don't buy anything else if you are looking for a dishwasher that will do a good job.

7 December 2015. Still happy every day. Everything, the way it cleans everything sparkling clean, the clever bottom filter is self-cleaning and remains spotless, the extra space inside, the clever movable basket with the little slide-out lid to keep little items inside, the quiet operation, the efficient water use, the solid interior trays with the ball-bearing rollers which glide smoothly, the main on/off switch hidden on the inside top so little fingers can not turn it on, etc. Nothing, well perhaps the initial cost but it is cheaper in the long run when you consider the long life it has.

The one reason why you shouldn't buy an Asko – Lots have been written about the pros and cons of buying an Asko over other leading brands like Bosch or Miele. I’ll give you the biggest reason not to buy an Asko as long as you excuse the fairly long story. We’ve owned an Asko for about five years now. In the first few months of owning the machine, the lights on the controls would dance… Read more

around whenever we pressed the start button. It didn’t happen all the time, just occasionally.

We called Asko and the technician came and said nothing is wrong. We had to pay around $140 (if memory serves me) for the call out because the company has this real customer unfriendly policy that actually discourages you from diagnosing and fixing problems early – but that’s a discussion for another time.

A few months after, the machine stopped. Just wouldn’t work. We called Asko and the technician told us it was a clogged drainage pipe and not covered by the warranty. We had to pay another $280 for this. I was mad but paid.

The next day the machine broke down again. Asko came out and found a corroded part that had to be replaced. The technician told us that the first problem with the control was due to this as that is how the machine tells you something is wrong. Wonder why this wasn’t picked up in the first place!

Here’s when the fun begins. We called the service manager three times and emailed him twice to arrange a refund for the two service payments we made. We can never get him on the phone and left messages. He never called back and I think he must have been hiding from us.

We asked the receptionist for the Australian general manager. She would not put us through and said we should talk to the service manager. We asked for the GM’s name so we can email or write him and she refused to even tell us that.

Luckily for Google we tracked him down (this was [name removed], who has since left) and we emailed him and sent him a registered letter of complaint.

Weeks passed. No reply.

Out of desperation, I emailed global HQ to tell the CEO what a lousy job [name removed] and his team are doing in looking after us and attached the letter I sent [name removed].

The next day I got a call from Asko Australia’s customer service manager. What a surprise!

He told me Asko would give me the refund I requested but was fairly unapologetic. He also couldn’t tell me why I was ignored or why management seems to be hiding from unhappy customers.

He also said my check will be sent in one week. It took two – no biggie. But what really makes me unhappy is that Akso Australia didn’t even have the courtesy to extend an apology to me even though they knew what they had put us through.

It is simply amazing that a premium brand knows so little about customer service.

Who cares if Asko outlasts its competitors? Any company that treats customers with contempt doesn’t deserve my business.

Good quality, dearest dishwasher I've owned, but also the best one! – I've had LG's and Whirlpools as well, and been in homes with Fish n Pieks etc etc. This really is the best dishwasher I've owned as far as clean dishes go. It seems to dry the plastics better too. I am really very happy with this dishwasher. It's quiet, the only noisy thing about it is the water gurgling down the pipes (no fault of the… Read more

dishwasher.) It has a heavy duty clean corner for the pots and pans and the sliding (put anywhere) cutlery rack is a bonus. I also like the knife rack for the big kitchen knives on the top shelf also.

No issues with shelves sliding out, nor water leaking. Really good quality solid reliable dishwasher. We have had it for over 3 years now, and it hasn't missed a beat. We've had issues with our electrical supply (ie too low a voltage - long story now fixed) and this didn't seem to affect the dishwasher.

One of the main reasons we bought this dishwasher (other than it was an asko!) was that the top arm is permanently connected to the water supply. A lot of dish washers have that top arm attached to the top shelf, so disengage when you pull out the top shelf. This one doesn't so I figure less chances of seals going ikky or just not working. When looking at other dish washers I've also noticed that some top arms come out of the roof and don't actually connect at all, I always worry that if you stack the shelf wrong this may get obstructed and your whole top shelf will not wash properly. Again not an issue with this model.

Love this dishwasher and would definitely buy again when it's time to upgrade / move / or re-purchase. Dishes are clean and dry. What else is there to want from a dishwasher? Can't think of any!!! It's pretty good!

Was given a secondhand Asko D3122 Dishwasher – I was given one of these machines by friends who replaced it with their faithful Miele, and it would have had to been at least 10 years old when I was given it 6 or 7 years ago. 12 years of good service – We bought the ASKO D3122XLQ in 2006 and have no dishwashing trouble with it. The only issue is the coating on the racks came off in a few spots. We used a product to re-coat which doesn't look the greatest but it does the job. I rinsed my dishes of large pieces before putting them into washer and all dishes came out clean every time. We have never had an issue with clogging. Satisfied customer for 12 years.  Show details

Asko wows – I have a D3122 dishwasher and the door showed signs of rust after only three years. I had taken out a 5 year warranty through the people I bought it through but they went broke and Asco wouldn't stand by their product. Now 3 years later the door leaks. I bought and paid a premium price for Asco thinking it was a quality product. How wrong was I?????????

An excellent machine... for the first 5-6 years – What an excellent job this machine does. It's cleans well, it's quiet and it looks great. 7 years old dishwasher, control panel went after 3 years - and only trouble after that, now no hot w – Paid $2300 for a lemon, really disappointed + Clive Peter purchase, extended warranty was a joke. Now the water does not heat anymore, and obviously not washing anymore. Also to have a good load washed it takes very long. Great for the 4 years that i used it, thats why i've rated it with 4 stars – 4 years for a $999 dishwasher is very dissappointing, i will never be buying another one to the same value or make, Asko customer service responds in its own time, which makes it hard to determine their preferred repairer and a satisfactory outcome with a resolve to assist with repair .

of ownership I will be looking for a new Dishwasher again and this time it will not be an ASKO. When you pay a high cost (For so called the best - you want the best to also last long without breaking down) you expect a low cost of ownership. My last diswasher lasted 12 years with a total cost of repairs being less than $200 for some door springs. ASKO never again. You pay for the name and it took 2 days to get a service tech to my home. Washes well High purchase cost (Supposed to be the best) - High cost of Ownership (Expensive to maintain) - Service techs are busy - Why?? I can only think this product range must breakdown alot at $100.00 +/hr?????

Reliable, even on tank water with low pressure & does a great job – In our house, EVERYTHING goes in the dishwasher; kitchen sponges, scrubbing brushes, dog dishes - the lot. Terrible unreliable product – This product was a housewarming present in our first home - top of the line, strongly recommended by supplier. because of commonness of problem, they give the first one free). Not sure why they didn't create a strainer system in the machine that stops such things getting through.

The second time it flooded was when we moved it when moving house. Of course the propensity of this machine to have water sitting in the bottom at all times meant as soon as it was angled, the switch tripped. Had to tip all the water out and eventually(days later) it reset. This then happened 5 or 6 more times over the next 12 months. We called out the (new) service man, he said the connection to the supply was tripping the machine. He uninstalled a standard plumbing part. He also recommended not to use powerballs as "this is too much soap for these machines"!! 6 months later the motor stopped functioning. New part required. More money.

Now, 3 months later, sitting here listening to the motor grind away, I wonder on earth I didn't purchase a low-end replaceable model instead of wasting my mother's money on this. It's 3 years old and I'm considering throwing it in the tip. It leaves a constant lumpy residue in the glasses but cleans the bottom rack well. Nice appearance. Expensive, poor design, major usage issues, cleans badly, service costs.

Good – I used this site to get some quality advice before I made a major purchase on a new dishwasher. I was quickly reminded that people are very keen to complain! esp. routine (you/user) maintenance. The top washer arm is seperately plumbed... that is... the top rack does not need to 'mesh/mate' with the back of the washer. (No future roller and seal probs there!). HUGE height clearance for plates, pots etc. ...(on the bottom rack!) - On the top rack, you can fit almost anything except tall standing plates!!!! ... If you follow the included manufacturers booklet esp. about stacking correctly etc.... You will love this machine. I think?!? This machine can take powder or tablets! Worst case scenario... I can easily source parts for this make. (But I don't expect to have the need anytime soon). 'Asko' and 'Bosch' are regarded as the two leading domestic brands of dishwashers! None really. If anything, the initial purchase price. Ouch!... But hey.... you get what you pay for.... I should be able to reasonably expect at least 10 - 15 years service from this beau. The quoted "efficiency ratings" are for the most minimalist economy setting(s) that are programmable. Again... only use these settings per manufaturers advice, otherwise the 'eco' settings are shite! A 'Normal' wash is STILL better than the competitors... (based on the end results). A MASSIVE MAJOR draw back is the overall time from start to finish on a 'normal' cycle. (Over 2 hours!)... Aprox. 30 mins is drying time however!

Bosch.

I use cheap dishwasher powder and rinse aid and am happy to say the dishes are coming out totally clean and dry.

The Asko is a bit noisier than my Bosch, but not so much that it's a real issue for me.

Just a note for installation - make sure the water hose goes right up to the top of the machine at the back then down again, otherwise you'll have water come back into the machine and eventually it will think it's still got water in the bottom and try to pump that out before starting a cycle. I was lucky that Asko fixed this issue for me under warranty when it was really the 2nds World installer that stuffed up (maybe Asko dishwashers are a bit fussy with their installation).

All in all I have no hesitation in recommending this dishwasher. Cleans well, even on economy mode 45c. water efficient. Works well with cheap powder. Dishes are dry. Not the quietest dishwasher.
