If I could give it 0 Stars I would! – 1st problem: Door locked and couldn't open the dishwasher. 2nd problem: Circuit board went had to be replaced. 3rd problem: Stopped drying, still doesn't dry properly everything has to be dried by hand. 4th problem: Pump burnt out had to be replaced. NEVER BUYING ASKO AGAIN!! Show details
Waste of money and poor product backup – Purchased Asko as they were supposed to be a good machine. Paid the extra money to extend the warranty to 5 years. Never been happy with it from the start. Doesn't wash and dry like a good quality dishwasher should (we have a 2nd dishwasher from ALDI which washes better) and now 1 month out of the extended warranty it needs at least $500.00 worth… Read more
of work to replace the main circuit board. Rang Asko customer service and they outright refused to offer any support or compensation. All they could do was refer us to a Asko service agent. Have just made the decision to replace it with a Miele.... whats the point of putting $500 +++ into a 5 year old machine with no backup support from the manufacturer. You would think they would take a little bit of pride in their product if it as any good....
Never again Asko – Bought this ‘top of the line’ dishwasher around 6 years ago. Went ok for a while but then the pump died just over a year later. Shortly thereafter, due to a major design flaw, the controller would become inundated with water after every cycle. For the last 5 years we’ve had to blast the controller with a hairdryer every day to get the thing to work. Second pump has now gone so it’s time to bite the bullet. Won’t be buying Asko ever again. A marvel – Despite the negative reviews here, we have nothing but praise for this machine. Purchased in 2012 as a replacement for an older Dishlex machine that was in the house, it has lived up to expectations and performed flawlessly from day one. Our dishes just go in as they are and we mostly use it every 2nd day on one of the daily settings. It's… Read more
extremely quiet, water efficient and does a great job of cleaning just about anything we throw at it.
It's failed to drain a couple of times but only because the drain hose routes via a convoluted path and once we had that re-plumbed it hasn't happened since. Other than that is hasn't had a single fault and prompted us to spend the extra when our 5 year old Whirlpool washing machine gave up the ghost.
Perfect ! – Had this dishwasher for over 2 years now and it's never missed a beat, runs pretty quiet as far as dishwashers go, washes and dries great using Finish powder and rinse aid. It also feels a lot more premium and better built than most others on the market, would highly recommend Asko dishwashers. Show details
Excellent Since A Part Was Replaced – Previously reviewed this model and gave one star. Asko did get in touch with me and have since replaced a part, (which we had thought was the problem from the beginning). Very happy now! Thought I had better write something nice about it since it has improved almost 100%, once the problem was identified and replaced. Show reply

Water inlet problem – Paid top dollar, would have expected something more reliable. We will NEVER touch this brand again. Purchased a replacement water inlet valve but continues to be faulty, unable to reset Show details
Unfortunately this product has inherent issues – Unfortunately for us our Asko has failed again with the same issue as before and like so many others. Asko were good enough to supply the parts for the last repair done 2-3 years ago and w3 paid for labour. In my opinion there is an inherent issue with the PCB and display located in the door. This model is a poor example of quality that was sold to us as the best ever dishwasher made, for us and many others this is not the case. Show details

brand, then you tear your own eyes figuring out how to keep this machine working. Buy ASKO dishwasher.
My more than 10 years old other cheap brands just working non-stop before we came to buy this.
$1,750 of our bloody money on this WORST EVER machine, not even working non-stop like a very old used one which was $50 - $100 on Gumtree.
3. If you need to deeply understand “pain in the butt” meaning, then buy this one and imagine after your family party, the machine just stops working no matter what you try anything. Buy ASKO dishwasher.
4. If you are always a gentleman in the house but you really want to say nasty words million times without your wife claiming you, then let her decide to buy this machine. She will never ever claim you when you try to get the dishwasher working and throw out hundreds of WT... yourself. Buy ASKO dishwasher.
5. If you want to pull all of your hairs out without even noticing you already pulled them all while you try from Google to Bing finding solutions getting this machine working. Buy ASKO dishwasher.

7. If you want to find the WORST DESIGN. The MOST UNCOMFORTABLE DISHWASHER. The TERRIBLE DISHWASHER. Buy ASKO dishwasher.
All over the problems (stop working, water in the board, non-responsive control, broken door latch), we got with this terrible designed and unlimited-faults dishwasher FROM DAY ONE, I would love to leave this review while I had to spend hours again in getting the machine working temporarily back.
Good luck to all of you Australia gentlemen who had wife forcing you to buy this ASKO dishwasher, then I know you will still have a very short bright moment in your life to throw out all of WT... with her smile on her face standing beside you when you are trying everything unsuccessfully to get this machine working after a family party.
About the service? I don't think they really exist in Australia. Called them asking for the fix before and they denied the problem on non-responsive control board. They said it was very strange to hear my story.
I wonder why they still got people thinking their dishwasher is the top brand? It is really a JOKE.
Good luck, really !!!

An appalling dishwasher that has failed at every step to live up to the JB HI FI sales pitch. I will – I bought this expensive ($1544) dishwasher from JB HI FI Helensvale on the overwhelmingly positive sales pitch from the sales assistant. He rated ASKO over premium known brands such as Bosch and Miele. APPALLING. The quality of this product has failed to meet the expected consumer guarantees set out by the ACCC. From day one the machine has… Read more
beeped intermittently; the control panel has been unresponsive and has been susceptible to water getting in and causing the machine to fail to operate.
I am constantly turning it off and on again at the power point to try and re-set it in order to make it work.
It was sold as the best dishwasher on the market for drying its contents (perfect for a new baby). I can guarantee through experience that our previous DeLongi puts it to shame. Items come out soaking wet all the time.
Having a new baby and working away from home I did not have the time to contact ASKO during the warranty period (of witch seven months it was out of use in storage).
When I did contact them, they were only prepared to offer reduced cost for service and parts. That just does not cut it for such an expensive lemon.
This product is so bad that I have referred it to the ACCC.
I would encourage anyone considering an ASKO to do themselves a favour and stay well away.
Further; to seek reviews on products and not take the word of the JB HI FI sales person as gold.
SHAME ON YOU ASKO!
Terrible service and extended warranty. Dont buy ASKO ever! – Paid a lot more than other products available in the market with the understanding that we are going to get a long lasting product with minimal issues. Just past original warranty it started having issues, ASKO techs came out 4 times in past 3 years and have replaced LCD panel, fixed a no-return valve and on the last one, the tech literally took… Read more
apart the machine and put it back then said he was not been able to find the source of a leak causing the machine to shut down. He has just pur back the machine for now but the issue can reoccur.
Now after the last repair it does not clean and leaves a lot of residue on the dishes. We let them know that it's a defective item but requests for a replacement has fallen on deaf ears.
Totally useless purchase at an added expense when we could have bought and thrown away 3 new dishwashers if we had stuck to other manufacturers.
Don't touch this company's products with a barge pole.
Do not waste your money on this machine – We were originally attracted to this DW as the kids could not interfere with the controls, and because we could finally afford to spend money on a decent branded DW, however we have been disappointed with this product has failed miserably to live up to the Asko brand. this Asko ($1726 in 2014). I see from this forum that it has now been discontinued, wow, I wonder why.
Aside from the failed electronics (twice) and the current disaster which sees the door jammed shut and us waiting patiently for a technician to come and fix it, I have found the Asko Service team to be arrogant and ignorant when I attempted to describe to them recently why it was unacceptable that in 3 years, these fairly major faults occur in their flagship model... their response was "well, everything needs a service from time to time, that's just the way things are..." Incredible. I wonder how many people would continue to buy a Ferrari if they broke down within a few years of purchase?
I'm waiting to hear back from a "manager" but not holding my breath. Never again, what a horrible waste of money. Go with a Miele or Bosch (I wish we had). I'm so angry about this that I've signed up to this site with the sole intention of wanting to warn others of what they can expect from Asko.
Burning smell coming from door – Not happy with this purchase, have had dishwasher for 4.5 years now. I had to turn off at power point. Bought in local town and… Read more
now we have the problems the closest technician is 200 km return trip away. That means two trips, one to drop off to identify the problem and again to pick it up. Had the local electrician look at the problem to which he disconnected the detergent dispenser, which stopped the continual activation but did not stop the burning smell, the door fan also continually runs even when machine not in operation, have to open door to stop this. Appears the machine has a huge electrical issue which operates functions when not in operation, major safety issue. For the price we paid for this I would expect a lot longer reliable service. Would recommend others to buy a product which has better reviews and has local support. Will end up going as others say Bosch or Meile.

A load of problems – We replaced our old Asko in March last year 2016. The new one is nothing but trouble. The control panel at the top freezes and won't respond. If we switch it on and off at the power still no response however the fault will fix itself in about 24 hours or so. The control panel has water residue in it that does seem to dry out after a while. first complained about this problem on the 3rd of January 2017 and was told a technition would visit and fix. The technition did contact us but never turned up. I followed up with a call to the technition who i did not hear back from.
Two months later the dishwasher has a new fault that is again an electrical fault. The second fault is a water outlet fault that is not fixed a cleaning filters or rotating the blades in the pump.
The dishwasher is less than twelve months old and is still under warranty.
Asko issued a job number but has not followed up our complaint that has remained outstanding for two months.
The after sales service is clearly not up to speed.

Disappointing Disaster – Aspects of this dishwasher are good, but the unreliability of the control panel and of the cleanliness of the dishes is a constant problem. off.
The technician believes that it is the control panel and as it is out of warranty, this is an expensive repair.
Cannot recommend an Asko with such major repairs after such a short time. Basically like the machine, but unsure whether to repair as it may still have the same unreliability. Did not take out an extended warranty as believed in the brand. The total cost of repair is $715, half the cost of the machine and after only three years life of unreliable life is ridiculous.

Losing a loyal customer -- Far from perfect - a real lemon no wonder it's been discontinued! – We replaced our 13 year old Asko with this model, after no problems with the original and extremely happy with it (recommended it to friends who were delighted with it), it finally needed some major work, so we decided to replace our faithful model with this one. plus we purchased an extended warranty $199.00 - what a waste of money) we have simply had enough and went to buy a Miele but were told to bring it to the store and they'll have it looked at--we don't have the luxury of a "service call", living 550kms from Sydney and 200kms from the nearest town. It means pulling it out, on the ute and off for a 400km round trip!! Problem: it has never cleaned or dried properly; detergent dispenser sometimes doesn't open; detergent (Finish) stays in the dispenser (becomes hard). Touch buttons on the front panel are often useless (similar to others comments below). Pressing 'On' mode and and other touch buttons are hopeless. Have to turn it off under the sink and give it another go. Have done so much troubleshooting changed progams (when the touch buttons work) and nothing helps! We scrub the dishes before loading and wipe them when unloading). For a top class name and product this is a real disgrace!

I dont think I would buy an Asko again – Honestly what a bucket of bolts, I know why they have discontinued this model, it is rubbish! Our last Asko lasted 10 years not a problem so we replaced it in 2014 with D5644, which seemed like the best decision at the time. Asko Lemon - Unending problems with unresponsive touch controls – When working, this dishwasher is outstanding - quiet, functional and spacious. THREE times this happened, we were still under warranty (i.e. all in the first year, and I should note we paid extra for Akso to install the machine in the first place) and the service technician replaced the seal, then the door, then they took the machine away for several weeks so I'm not sure what was fixed. The next time it happened, we were now out of warranty, but because it was only a few months since the last repair and it was the exact same problem the company kindly fixed it as a warranty job anyway. Then, another few months later, the same problem - the touch controls stopped working. By now we are having to pay for repair callouts, which is incredibly frustrating since as their records clearly show it is an issue we've had with the machine since purchase. Nevertheless, we get a new door, as the alternative is a completely new machine. Several months later the same problem happens again! What sort of a joke is this machine???
For the money we paid to have a 'premium' brand dishwasher, this experience has been such an incredible disappointment. I now see from the reviews that many people have had issues with this dishwasher. I would hope that after an experience like this - in our case, fully documented by their own technicians - a company like Asko would have owned up to the fact that this model was clearly defective and replaced it with something that works. But no: I guess it's time for us to stop throwing good money after bad and simply buy a different branded machine.
Such a shame, because if not for the constant failure of the controls, the rest of the design was excellent.

Don't bother – I've had this dishwasher just a few months. I replaced it after my Bosch died. I was debating between the asko and Miele. Let's just say I should've bought the Miele. the control panel is one of the worst design – I replaced my 12 year old Fisher & Pykel (the tray rails are falling apart, but other than that, still good!) with the Asko after many hours of research, looking through units in show rooms. because we use a lot of ceramic bowls and cups.
On the day of installation, we were told to use less detergent, and I have to say, he was right, the unit cleans well using half of what we used to.
The problem for me is the control panel on the top. it just won't respond! it turns on and off when ever it feels like. and we have to switch it off at the main power every night. It is now pass its 1 year warranty (although we ask the vendor for the option of extended warranty, but were told Asko doesn't offer) but come to think of it, it just goes to show Asko isn't confident about their products.
The control panel always seems to have water residue on it, after each use, the unit heads up, and the steam catches on the panel and heating it up at the same time. I am not sure if this is a design flaw, but if anyone else is consider buying, re-think.

Mielle, drying without opening the door and swelling my bench top, and enough room to swing a panther.
I have now had this model for 1 year and am prepared to say I made the correct choice, I have not had a bad thing to say about the quality of Asko and am extremely satisfied, not having to rinse the dishes is the most pleasing thing about this machine.
You need to wash your dishes before stacking into dishwasher – I am not happy with this dishwasher. It is not worth $1599. I see two or three utensils would not be clean. Glasses used only for drinking water will have some rough thing stick on it you cannot see but feel it. The only good thing is that it makes such a loud noise that I don't have to worry whether I switched it on or not. I can clearly listen to dishwasher noise in the bedroom it feels as if someone is taking shower in Ensuite.

At the end of my tether with this machine – I have a previous review of this machine where I gave it two star. I did this because - when it washed - it washed well. 5 months with constant service calls. They finally replaced some part that with a new one that had apparently been "completely reengineered" to fix the known issue. I have had 3 1/2 months of blissful problem-free dishwashing. Not bad given I purchased the original machine just a little over two years ago. Sadly it has now stopped washing all together on the top rack (which, incidentally was the original issue I had with the original machine). I'm over this and intend to contact them again. I would like to think that you will actually have a conversation with me after the constant disasters that have surrounded this ill-fated dishwasher purchase. I'm not holding my breath, particularly given your boss, also didn't seem to be interested but we shall see. All I want now is a refund on the machine and to be able to move on with a life that doesn't involve constant loss of work time waiting for dishwasher technicians to arrive at my house.

Poor design poor service and one very irrate customer – Normally i wouldn't join in one of these forums, but after much frustration with a continuing problem, i thought i would see if anyone else has experienced something similar...And to the best of my knowledge i'm not alone. I purchased the dishwasher in feb 2013, now at january of 2015, i have gone through 2 new motherboards, an after market… Read more
larger fan installed to compensate for the ongoing condensation problem in the control panel (in a conversation to asko they acknowledged this problem and maybe a replacement dishwasher should be organised...But alas i never heard back from them!). Not long after the installation of the 2nd motherboard and fan the condensation problem still continued, in the end it became totally non operational. (if i wanted to hand wash my dishes i wouldn't have wasted my money on a dishwasher!). Then finally in decemeber 2014 the entire dishwasher packed it in, and would not go past a rinse cycle. So on calling asko again, and again and again, i gave up and put it in the hands of my supplier who managed to sort out a replacement dishwasher, being installed just prior to xmas. Upon viewing the dishwasher after installation i noticed 2 dents in the door (the dent coming from the inside out, not outside in - very poor quality control). So another several phone calls to asko, for a replacement door. I'm yet to receive the door. So within the space of a couple weeks of operation of the new dishwasher, the condensation problem of the motherboard has begun. I have been in contact with asko yesterday and today to discuss the condensation problem and my warranty. I have been told my standard 2 year warranty, is from the date of the original transaction (being february 2013), so in other words in about a months time i'm going to be left with a lemon of a dishwasher. They have acknowledged a condensation problem, its obvious it still continues to happen in the new one, so why can't they stand behind there huge claims of "we care about quality, we care about design, how can we make something better..Etc etc etc". While the condensation problem doesn't render the dishwasher useless straight away, over the space of a couple of months the dishwasher is rendered non operational. If they want to make something better for me, i woud like my money back. I don't think any amount of warranty is going to solve this issue, it comes down to poor design from the outset. The upsetting thing about this, i gave away my miele dishwasher (which never had a problem) to my parents who didn't have a dishwasher, because i wanted to get a larger capacity dishwasher...Oh why didn't i stay with miele.

Very Happy – We purchased our D5644SS in August 2012 for our new home. Had it installed by Asko tech. We use it practically every day and it hasn't missed a beat so far. Problem machine from the start - clearly a faulty design with very little Asko support in my area – I have been an Asko convert for a long time and recommended Asko machines to several friends that have all bought various models. This is my third asko dishwasher in 15 years. My first, which was already 10 years old and in my house when I bought it, washed beautifully but only lasted me another 3 years before it died. another Asko which I absolutely loved. It had all the features I wanted and also washed beautifully. One Christmas, after running three washes through it in one day, it just stopped working. It was only seven years old.
Out of warranty I called the asko approved technician who came out, replaced the mother board but - not having done a proper assessment in the first instance - actually blew the machine up in my kitchen, complete with sparks and smoke! They suggested the machine was now unfixable and that I needed a new machine - then proceeded to ask me to pay for the service call. Having scrapped them from ever servicing another machine in my house and I proceeded to Asko machine number 3 - the D5644. Purchased and paid for in Jan 2013 it didn't get delivered until March 2013. Sadly it never washed well from the beginning. The top rack was always left with residue. After 3 months of trying to stack in different ways, using different powders and rinse aids I called another tech. A faulty diverter valve to the top rack he said - and he replaced it. It still didn't wash properly.
He came back, checked again and ordered another part. Still didn't fix it. Came back, this time he thought it was the computer board that controlled the flow of water which he had to order. It took several months to be provided by Asko - and only came after I followed up with them directly on his behalf. Then machine started a strange, constant beeping and a water drop appeared in the display. It continued to run but still didn't wash well on the top rack. I logged yet another service call. However, one day in Dec 2013, it just stopped all together. After 4 months of toing and froing with Asko they agreed to replace the machine (thank you very much Kylie) which unfortunately took another 4 months but, at the end of July 2014, I had a new D5644 installed. While this one actually washed well on the top and bottom, after 4 weeks the water drop appeared and the constant beeping started..... sadly here we go again. Washed okay on the bottom rack, had a nice design Doesn't wash on the top rack, constantly breaks down, touch panel obviously a problem, really poor product support in my area

Fabulous Swedish Efficiency – Our Fisher Paykel DW recently died after 7 years trouble-free service, but we decided to upgrade rather than repair as the FP was a water and power guzzling beast – it came pre-installed in our new house. at user reviews. After several weeks of researching and comparing, we decided to go with either a top of the range Asko or Miele. We had a Miele DW in our last house pre the FP and it was excellent, and we still have an Asko front loader washing machine which has worked very hard without fault for 9 years.
On paper the Miele seems superior to the Asko but many reviewers on this site stated that their very expensive Mieles had died within days or weeks of installation. By comparison, I saw no negative reviews about any Askos. Comparing them in-store, the Asko also seemed to be more solidly built. Eventually went with the Asko D5644SS and haven’t looked back.
The Asko is light years ahead of our old Fisher Paykel:
> We no longer have to pre-rinse the dishes – everything in the FP had to be pre-rinsed or it didn’t come clean, but Asko’s instructions tell you – “Do not pre-rinse – it isn’t necessary” and so far everything has come out spotless using the standard “Normal” wash. We think our water bill will be at $100 less. Took a while to get used to putting dirty dishes straight into the dishwasher, but really, that’s how it should be. There are also numerous other preset cycles to suit almost every type of load.
> It is the same capacity (14 settings) but holds at least 1.5 times more with greater efficiency. Many of our dishes had to be double spaced in the FP – no longer necessary with the Asko, and most of the time we only have to run it every 2-3 days (family of 4).
> It is super quiet – you have to double check it is actually running – the FP sounded like a herd of elephants dancing on the roof for 2 hours and made TV viewing, conversation or sleeping almost impossible.
> Like all 4 previous dishwashers we’ve owned, water on top of cups doesn’t dry, but we choose to open the door at the end of the cycle, pat the cups dry and allow the load to air dry for a while. The machine can be set to a higher drying temp that will dry the cups, but that is simply an unnecessary waste of energy and money in my opinion.
Only issues were:
> Harvey Norman Fyshwick stuffed up the order – it took three weeks to arrive instead of one.
> I was led to believe it would simply slide under my bench and not need fixing. Not true - it definitely must be fixed via 4 screw locations at the top front corners or it tips forward when the door is opened.
We highly recommend the Asko D5644SS and look forward to it giving us similar, reliable service as experienced with the Asko washing machine. We’ve only had it now for almost 2 months but are extremely happy with it and the extra price will be quickly offset by the significant reduction in water and power use. No rinsing required, low water and power use, whisper quiet, huge capacity, cleans brilliantly
Rubbish – This dishwashers' design is faulty. The change over valve for the adjustable top shelf has now blown out for the third time. I purchased an Asko as I am on tank water and they have the least water usage. I had my previous Asko for 17 years and loved it. I am very disappointed with this model. Works well when the valve is not broken The change over valve for the top shelf is a faulty design.

Must have scored 'The Lemon' – When it's working properly, it's the best. However, it was installed by the most slapdash installer, who was in a desperate hurry to leave ASAP eg he threw away insulation etc that should have been fitted. This appliance also appeared to have a fault from the outset, which caused the power 'on' light to illuminate all on its own. If you did not… Read more · 5
heed the subsequent beeping, it would start by itself, which it did on one occasion. The only way to prevent this was to crawl under the sink and switch the power off at the wall. This should not be necessary for such a quality new machine. When this had happened 5 times in the first 3 months, ASKO's excellent Serviceman (possibly unnecessarily) replaced the entire control module. He may have done this as a kind precaution, as he was about to go on extended leave. The cause may have been no more than the failure of the original installer, to also fit the (again discarded) non-reflecting felt strip above the touch panel, located inside and on the top edge of the door. This has now led to a new problem. The normal 1.5 hour cycle then took 2.75 hours before becoming 3.5 hours. This apparently cannot be adjusted. So the new control module is apparently faulty. BTW, just after this d/washer was made, ASKO shut their Swedish factory and moved it to Slovakia, from where spare parts are now apparently sourced, the lower quality of which may be the cause of the replacement control unit's fault. Awaiting developments...watch this space... It works impeccably and has the most wonderful features, such as deep door, rotating parts all metal (unlike plastic in more Ely Miele), high pressure spray section for dirtiest dishes, knife drawer, huge range of wash cycles, including short 7 min rinse, exhausts the steam at the end of the wash. It is also extremely power and water use efficient. Slapdash installation and now possibly faulty replacement parts' source.
