Works pretty well but not amazing. Multiple failures of the heating element and Asko warranty process has been disappointing each time. Long restoration times, not meeting commitments, poor communication. With third warranty issue in three years I'd actively tell people not to buy Asko in Australia Show details
Expensive Dishwasher, Beware Failure of components & poor warranty – This is a high-end and expensive Asko dishwasher, but let down by a plastic inlet wheel that failed through no fault of use, no blockage, high quality water & good flow. Average use by us as consumers and we never moved since purchase. Asko Warranty… Read more
team flicked us some repairers and didn't want to know about it failing after only 4 years of average use. No way to bypass the electronic failure, so resigned to having to pay $500 for service. Wouldn't buy an Asko again, although it gives a decent clean when working so 1 Star for that.
Follow-up · Have always used rinse aid, it gives warnings if you don't have it. Installation was tight but okay. Noise is standard for a dishwasher, it isn't silent. It cleans okay, but items don't come out dry despite the sales pitch. The hidden on/off switch is in a bit of an annoying location, not sure why it couldn't be on the front (Aesthetics?).
DON"T BE FOOLED – I recently replaced my 13-year-old ASKO dishwasher with a new model, the old one was still working well, but the baskets were beginning to rust, and rather than pay the cost of replacement ($600.00) I decided to buy new. I was happy with the old dishwasher as it worked well for all those years, so I went to Harvey Norman and bought another… Read more
ASKO…little did I know that ASKO is no longer ASKO. The new ASKO is owned by Chinese Hisense brand, so in essence I paid almost $1700.00 for a dishwasher that is on par with a $350.00 dishwasher for quality and service. The new dishwasher has problems with draining the water too slowly and leaving small food particles behind (see photo) it had this from the first wash… when I contacted ASKO service I got a snarky one line email reply that I put large chunks of food in the dishwasher (I asked the tech to please point out the particle on the photo that was too big – he replied that they can send a tech out at my cost). These food particles gather on the bottom of the dishwasher and cause the washer to emit a foul smell, in addition when the dishwasher is filled for the new wash the water is filled with these particles (dirt). I gave my old ASKO to my son who is still using it with no problems, and I’m stuck with a dishwasher that requires me to pre-wash my dishes not fit for purpose… next stop Consumer Affairs... STAY AWAY from ASKO/Hisense
DIshwasher died after 8 months – Where do I start? Apart from the fact that the dishers are never dry, the inlet valve failed after 8 months. After contacting support I was told it would be covered by warranty. However, Asko warranty only covers service calls within 30kms of the service agent. As we are located in Reghional Victoria we have no service people willing to work for… Read more
Asko as they cant recover travel costs. So we have been unable to get our machine repaired. Nobody warned us that Asko dishwashers were for city residents only. Even our semi-regional Good Guys outlet failed to tell us about this issue.

Never Another ASKO Product – Dishwasher that cost $1400, has been lightly and carefully (dishes rinsed first) used for only 2 years 9 months and already the drain pump is dying and needs replacing - problem is indicated by the unit regularly stopping with F11 error, which has much coverage on Youtube. Replacement total cost is $450 - repairman said it is a common problem due… Read more
to its, and ASKO dishwashers in general, poor quality. Note that whilst this concerns an ASKO dishwasher, criticism here will most likely apply to ALL ASKO products as 1) it is a long time since ASKO was a Swedish company with it now owned by the Chinese company HISENSE (via a Slovenian subsidiary), and 2) in a lot of areas, including Melbourne, ASKO does not do its own warranty/post warranty support but use/refer people to third party appliance servicing companies. The first means product quality these days is very low (confirmed by serviceman who deals with many brands) and the second means that servicing companies are happier the more problems the products have (after the initial service visit a salesman kept hassling us to agree/pay in advance for the repair. When we said we would not proceed but would junk the unit, he instantly dropped the repair price by $45. And then when we still rejected this he started trying to sell us a replacement dishwasher). Another point worth noting is that if ASKO provided its own service, a service person could have brought parts that might be needed according to our detailed description of the problem - hence no cost of a second visit. Will never spend another cent on an ASKO product.
As we have now replaced the unit (with a far more "hi-tech" Bosch Series 6 made in Germany), I have removed the drain pump from the ASKO - made in China and same as used in HISENSE dishwashers!!!!
When it works, it works well – Our unit cleans well, drying is so so but it's a dishwasher. The subboard died twice in the same year. requiring a replacement to be shipped from Melbourne, between getting the wrong parts shipped and waiting for a technician to be available it was out of action for a month at a time. In a family of 6 this is bollocks. When it works we run it at least once a day, I fully expect it to break in another 6 months. Show details
Don't bother with Asko, their quality is not what it seems – Don't waste your money on Asko, this brand is not what it seems to be quality wise for the amount of money you pay for Asko products. Below is my email to Asko regarding a faulty dishwasher: "Hi there, Hope you had a good weekend. Just touching base as the customer support service personnel suggested to get in touch via email. I originally… Read more
called about a month ago in regards to Asko Dishwasher DBI253IB odd noise during the cycle (more towards the start of the cycle)… possible something to do with water inlet. I have been meaning to contact much earlier (since my call about a month ago), but to be honest have been just so down about this situation that I have just been avoiding it.
I have noticed this odd noise around December 2021 while under warranty. However I actually didn’t think anything of the noise because at this stage the noise so faint, very short and at random wash cycles that I thought it was just normal operating sounds. Progressively this sound has started to get more noticeable (again at very slow pace which made it difficult to notice or actually worry about).
Until recent few months, the dishwasher makes a very distinct and loud noise. If I were to describe it, I would say like a very bad sound of a Trombone.
Firstly, I’m very disappointed that such a high quality brand, well know for it’s durability and quality of their products would start to break down after such a very short amount of time. I mean I have had cheap dishwasher in the past (and not a quality brand like Asko) which lasted over 12 years. I would have thought that spending $1899 on a quality product would mean at least 8 years of hassle free use. Luckily there was a promo ($200 off) at time of purchase which helps us save up for this big investment purchase.
Secondly, I wish I have called up about this strange noise when it first started to appear. My bad for not being persistent with this.
Thirdly, I don’t mean to sound rude, the customer support service personnel didn’t seem to be understanding about the situation and felt like they just wanted to end the call asap.
I hope someone reaches out and helps out in this situation so that my faith and image of this high quality brand is resurrected.
Many thanks in advance for your help."
AND THIS IS THE REPLY FROM ASKO SERVICE DEPARTMENT: "Thank you for contacting ASKO Australia customer support. According to the information that we have, your appliance is Out of Warranty. Kindly find the contact of the service agent in your area who you can contact directly. "
My thought to their email: Quite useless really... I am aware that it is out of warranty. My concern is that the dishwasher started breaking down while under warranty but I did not realise this until it was out of warranty.
REVIEW UPDATE ON 22/07/2023: To my surprise Asko customer care did send out a dishwasher technician (goodwill service as out of warranty) and fixed the issue at no cost. Two parts were changed, a lump and circulating pump. Both items costing around $350-$400 at no cost.
Am satisfied that Asko came through and fixed it. Just wondering why it happened as the technician said this was the first time he has had this issue.
I hope we will get many good years out of this unit.
Thank you Asko for your help.
faulty dishwasher/extremely poor service – -Purchased Asko dishwasher, discovered our new dishwasher had a broken back leg and we were unable to install..... it happens. -First contact 22 sept 2022 sent email with explanation of fault and received detailed explanation on how to install....doesn't help when part is broken. Technician confirmed broken a couple of weeks later. - Over next… Read more
3 months I spoke (phone/email) to numerous Asko staff (managers/call centre...) attempting to get a fix or a new dishwasher. 'Dance' included part sent to wrong state, 3 weeks later part still there, no you can't have a new dishwasher as only a minor part broken, yes you can have replacement dishwasher, none available ( apparently there were almost 400) ..... - Not once did I receive an apology regarding their very poor service and had to continually follow up as they almost never got back to me. - Of the many people I spoke to, 3 staff did have good customer service skills, the Technician, [Name Removed] - Melbourne call centre and [Name Removed]-Contractor. - Replacement dishwasher was finally delivered 16 December 2022 and after 2 washes appears to work satisfactory. However, I will NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE an ASKO product as the experience was highly unsatisfactory.
Note: Asko has been sold and is no longer Scandinavian owned.
Excellent overall space/flexibility in the use of the inside space/washing – PRO: It’s a black steel dishwasher, we have wooden cupboards and this black steel dishwasher looks much better than the old stainless steel dishwasher it replaced It was well worth the extra $100 we paid for the colour. PRO: The OFF/ON is on the top of the door , so not visible under bench and not accessible to children, we turn it on and then set… Read more
the program. The program buttons along with the display of what we have selected are on the front of the dishwasher, which is the way we like it , we can clearly see how the cycle is progressing in relation to time. PRO: There seems to be more room to put taller items in the bottom basket, my large stainless steel kenwood XL bowl fits in. On the sides, I can put my chopping boards and baking trays It also fits my large slow cooker crock pot. . I took a tape measure and I found it to have an extra 2 cm between the bottom and middle baskets, than some of the other high end makes of dishwashers. The pins on the back row can be folded down easily , it is divided into two, so you can fold half the row down and keep the other half upright for plates. I am happy with the whole layout of the inside of the ASKO. PRO: It has an “extra drying” option, not sure how much better this is than some of the other dishwashers with a drying option. PRO: it lets you know when you need to refill the Drying liquid PRO: It has both a removable cutlery basket and a removable cutlery shelf. I use both. PRO: The cutlery shelf doesn’t cover the whole width, which enables better washing of the things in the middle basket . The cutlery basket has ample space for cutlery. It is easily removable, it lifts off. This shelf can be adjusted up or down, I have it at the top most level , to give more room in the middle basket for pyrex bowls etc. PRO: Three spray arms and extra spray nozzles, I found that this model had more extra spray nozzles than some of the other dishwashers which we looked at, , this was one of it’s selling point for me.
CONS: The display as it turns on says “Swedish innovation” but this is now made by the same company that makes “Hisense, I believe made in Slovenia, so not sure why it is remains so expensive. CONS: ASKO Australia has the worst service ever. Just keeping my fingers crossed. I vowed never to buy an ASKO again but I couldn't go past the space/flexibility/and the extra cleaning ability that this dishwasher seems to have. CONS: I had a 11 year old ASKO, when it came to repairing it, apart from a myriad of problems dealing with ASKO and a faulty repair, ASKO no longer made a part we needed, so not sure how long parts will be available for this.
What a dud – We purchased an Asko d/w.; we were informed (incl. by retailer) that this was "the best on the market' (and the most expensive). Duds can occur and, it seems, we bought a dud. Third time we used it leaked water over the whole of the kitchen floor. However, after hours on the phone with Asko and the retailer, we finally arranged for the machine to… Read more
be removed and expected a refund. The refund has not happened yet. Asko's customer service is more like "customer no service" or "customer who gives a ...service'. Bought the machine on 22-07-22. Installed (by Asko contractor) on 27-07-22 became a dud on29-07-22 Machine (finally) re,moved on 29-08-22 Numerous phone calls and email transmissions to Asko for a refund but no response to any email transmission and phone calls returned. Eventually, after one hour on the phone, I was informed that the refund would come "this afternoon". No it didn't! Whilst service persons were effecint, the admin. staff was the opposite. In future, we don't care "how good" the product is, if it has Asko on it we will stay clear.
Better than what I expected – Replaced a top of the line Miele semi-integrated dishwasher after 10 years, was never happy with it, constant error beeping Noisy and always filling up with water in the bottom until the motherboard fried. Very impressed with the Asko super quiet Cleans and dries well, easy-to-use. Highly recommend purchased from The good Guys. Show details
Worst after sales service – The dishwasher stopped working and I have emailed many times to the service helpdesk. Sent email on Dec 6th 2020 , followed up again. They replied on 19th Jan 2022, with no information regarding the service. Requested them again for service and no reply until now. Show details
Failure under warranty – The dishwasher has a 2 year warranty. Washes the dishes beautifully but failed after 10 months and we are only a household of 3 adults. Very disappointing. In addition to the early failure I have been trying to get a service call for 9 days and ASKO still have not provided a time for a service call. I would go straight to the repair guy but as it… Read more
is still under warranty I have to go via ASKO. Not a premium product even though it is marketed as such. Customer service has not returned E Mail or provided repair appointment within their stated timeframe.

Cleans very well – It's been a week and I've used it every single day. Satisfied so far. Pros: 1. Cleans superbly. I'm Indian, we do curries every day, the greasy, spice filled pots get cleaned perfectly. Glass, cutlery comes out sparkly. Never had to rinse prior. 2. Looks great, excellent build quality. Very quiet 3. Rinse aid container is massive. Was getting… Read more
annoyed with my previous dishwasher where I had to fill the rinse aid every week. This one looks like it's going to last a while 4. Claims that the fine filter will self clean prior to each wash,I would need to clean it manually only every three months. If so that is great, as my previous dish washer required me to clean the filter every week otherwise would start depositing residue. 5. Very spacious lower basket. Effortlessly takes in big plates and pots. Hasn't come close to touching the spray arms. 6. Three spray arms and two jets - they do a great job of cleaning 7. Cutlery drawer is very convenient. Frees up big space in the lower basket by not having to use the cutlery basket. It's height adjustable too, but I feel at the top position it's to close to the top spray arm. 8. Display and controls on front. I am not a fan of the minimalist designs where the display is hidden on top of the door. Not practical. 9. Delay start is very very useful. I load the dishwasher overnight, delay the start to 10 am in the morning so that I can use my solar power. Time indicator is great to have too.
Cons:
1. Dries fully in intensive cycle only. The normal cycle (it's called heavy) requires me to open the door to then allow it to fully dry. A little disappointed as the turbo fan was expected to fully dry it. Asko could have made the door open automatically to aid drying, like Miele. 2. The middle basket Cannot be height adjusted. There is so much space in the lower basket, and limited height in the middle basket due to the cutlery drawer, so would have been really useful to be able to lower the middle basket. At this price range it should be a default. 3. The dishwasher is great looking. But the plastic vent at the bottom, and the two Silver screws at the bottom could have been better hidden. They are not very visible, but stick out just enough to look out of place.
Disappointed – Recently bought the ASKO as a replacement for my AEG that while was still happily working after 22 years had to be replaced when couldn’t get replacement for a rusted out spring for the door. Unfortunately ASKO doesn’t live up to my expectation. A rinse is a must for eggs, avocado and porridge soiled dishes and cutlery otherwise they come our… Read more
caked on and have to be scraped off. So much for water efficiency. The first morning as the sun came through the window I noticed some shiny and grey bits protruding from under the door. Upon checking it out discovered that silvery screws were used to hold the door (for a black finish) and the tacky looking grey piece of plastic is part of a vent. For over 2K price I would’ve expected more attention to the finish. So, it doesn’t wash properly, the finish is questionable, but on the positive sight it is quiet, but then the old one wasn’t noisy either, so I haven’t gained much, only that I will buy a different make the next time around.
Rinse free, very quiet, perfect results!! – So happy I invested in this dish washer. It runs through its cycle super quietly and with the three spray arms in action, dirt cant hide and we get perfect results every wash. Gone are the days of pre rinsing. Super turbo drying means glasses come out streak free and nothing needs additional drying. Show details
Expensive Yes, Value for money.... not even close – Purchased this unit after looking at a lot of different brands and was attracted to the internal layout as well as the comparison against other units. Turns out I missed several critical points that would have made all the difference. The power button requires you to open the door before turning the unit on or off if installed under a kitchen… Read more
bench, kind of like putting the key to start a car under the bonnet.
The most frustrating part of this machine is like others have stated, it cleans dishes occasionally, but that is more often than the number of times it makes it through a wash without erroring out for a variety of reasons including; not enough water in the sump, too much water in the sump, or misc error. The last wash took four resets to get the machine to run for more than 5 minutes continuously .
absolute rubbish – I paid 1200 dollars for adud now its out of warranty too bad. the machine was an D5436WH white. it has been discontinued no wonder. I am now expected to pay in excess of a new machine to get this fishing boat anchor fixed. Swedish technology at its best. absolute crap Show details
Pretty unimpressed – NEVER AGAIN. Cost us 2 or 3 times the amount of another dishwasher and we've only had our asko dishwasher for approximately 5 months, and it now won't power on at all. Before that it functioned quite good and the quality appeared good, but when I Called asko about our warranty, the first day I was on hold for 2 hours and 7 minutes without so much… Read more
as a pickup , the next time was 30 minutes. When I finally got an answer the third day, we were told that it was a 2-3 week wait. They cancelled our appointment 2 days before technician was due to arrive and deferred us to a private contractor who hasn't given us an exact day he can come, but already knows what part is dead because it's a common fault. If they are aware that this fault exists, and is a weakness in design, but are saying that they are top shelf quality, and charging 3 times the amount of other dishwashers, then unfortunately this all equates to a brand that I do not trust and neither should you. The after sales customer service is below average and somewhat "exclusive" making things even more difficult. Never again
Very disappointed – This dishwasher is the worst I have ever had. We had heard such good reviews about it. It cleans okay but does not dry the dishes at all. Everything is dripping wet at the end of the cycle. We have tried different cycles, but same issue. I contacted Asko and they sent a technician home. He did nothing and just asked us to use rinse aid every time.… Read more
I contacted Asko again but they are not helping anymore and have asked me to contact a 3rd party service to get it fixed. So basically it is no more Asko's responsibility. I am very disappointed and would not recommend anyone to buy this dishwasher.
Fantastic Dishwasher – Purchasing the Asko was a life changer. Such a fantastic dishwasher that is easy to use and has sparkling dishes on its completion. The trade/installer who attended was prompt and very professional, friendly and experienced. He was very well groomed and had fantastic customer service, he even cracked a few jokes which is always nice. Great… Read more
warranty.
I would highly recommend the purchase of this dishwasher and dealing with Asko has been a dream.
Ours isn’t cleaning the dishes properly – On initial inspection it looks and sounds like a great machine. It’s hardware is robust and it’s very quiet but that’s where the good points end. It doesn't clean your dishes. Considering that's it’s only job we’re not impressed. For context we have tried every wash option. We are rinsers too. The only way it works is if you half fill it and put it on the heaviest wash cycle. Show details

So far so good – We've had this dishwasher for a month now and so far so good. We previously had a Bosch Serie 8 that died after 4 years. We had a few problems with the Bosch - ponding at the bottom that I'd have to scoop out and then clean the mesh filter, beeps really loudly when the cycle finishes (so not great in the middle of the night), writing on the… Read more
on/off and start button completely faded so friends couldn't figure out how to turn it on and then finally it lost all power and would have cost us over $800 to fix (main power boards failed). Bosch suggested rather than fixing it we get a new one under warranty. So we did. This time we got an ASKO and so far here are some of the things I like: Our large dinner plates fit in (didn't in the bosch) Quieter end of cycle beep 7 min Rinse and hold wash Cutlery tray up the top is narrower which means taller glasses and wine glasses can fit in the top drawer (could only fit wine glasses on the bottom drawer of the bosch) Child lock (bosch probably do this too ?) Does a pretty good job drying plastics (not perfect but a bit better than the bosch). 6 year warranty (I paid 200 to extend it by 4 years)
