A total disappointment in every way – For someone who lives by themselves and given the location of the machine has been kept ( 70 km from the nearest ocean shore ) the ASKO has been such a disappointment! It started rusting in the fourth year but Customer Service was totally disinterested. I had purchased the ASKO in August 2009 for $ 1899.- and just had to replace it as the water… Read more

pump as well as the springs would have had to be replaced. It has had the nick-name "Rust Bucket" for years. Back to Miele!!

Absolutely terrible machine – Since purchasing this machine 8 years ago it's been nothing but trouble from Day 1. It's never washed properly and despite every manner of liquids/wash cycles/stain removers never rids stains. But aside from that, I've had ongoing issues with the detergent draw which jams and no replacement can be offered. It's now virtually rusted shut. Constant… Read more

'water outlet' faults and now has just flooded my laundry. I've made a service call but at $110 call out and around $40 per 15 min labour, I think I'll cut my losses and just buy a new machine. ASKO is a total disappointment.

Good wash but leaks thought I was buying quality – Fabulous washing machine but leaked and tripped circuit when detergent dispenser replaced, good for a little while My complaint is trying to get service, absolutely hopeless! They don’t call you back and having to call the east a pain! Asko did have a good name, no more will never ever buy another, their lack of service and trying to get hold of them ridiculous  Show details

Poor design killed it – Worked for 10 years but not without problems. Finally sprang a leak due to poor design of temperature probe. Service engineer came several times under warranty and once outside of warranty. Less reliable than the cheap LG it replaced and way more expensive. Often got hassle about water outlet fault was very temperamental!  Show details

It was great while it worked, but – When we bought this Asko, we were willing to spend a lot more than we'd ever spent on a washing machine previously on the basis that buying expensive meant buying quality. Well ... it sort of worked out. For the first 5 years or so, the machine did a wonderful job of washing our clothes, was quiet, very water efficient and overall was the… Read more

best machine we'd ever used. We did note some corrosion around the detergent drawer, but we put that down to living in a slightly damp house and the use of steel rather than plastic in the machine's construction.

However, after 5 years, the main control board failed. After reading how much a new board cost and that the new board also had a fair chance of failure, we reluctantly junked the Asko and bought a cheaper machine to replace it.

The washing action is very, very good however – ...the machine body started to rust quite badly after a couple of years! ASKO was not very helpful, actually customer service acted totally disinterested. I do have to admit that the machine was already 5 years old when I finally contacted them. So we had to fix it ourselves or better put; try and hold it together!  Show details

Don't Buy – Our W6863 has failed. Was quoted $500 to fix a faulty PCB which has already been replaced twice when we first bought the machine. Was advised then there was a design floor. Do yourself a favour and buy a $600 Korean machine as these items are just not worth it. At the same time we bought this machine we purchased an LG for a common laundry in our… Read more

apartment block, this machine gets used heavily and is still going strong. Lesson learnt made in Sweden means nothing.

Poor Reliability – For the price I would not recommend an Asko. The design itself is smart with the small seal being easy to maintain (no mould issues). The clothes are clean when they come out, the interface to use the unit is clear. Extremely disappointing in the PCB reliability. Had one fail at 4 yrs, and have just had the second unit fail after 2 yrs… Read more

(tripping out our safety switch)....at 350 per replacement that is getting up towards the initial purchase price of the unit (not acceptable). On this second failure am considering just trashing it and purchasing a Bosch rather than repairing.

When Running:

Quiet (except for high spin speed)

Easy to Use

Cleans as expected

Issues:

Detergent drawer rusts (replaced x 2)

Constant Leaking from Detergent Drawer onto Floor (always have to clean up after each wash)

PCB Board Failed (x2)

Controller board fails just after extended warranty expires, 5+ years – I'm in the telecommunications industry and need to describe faults clearly to vendors. Despite describing the fault fully the repairer arrived without any parts then said he would return in one week (then two weeks without a washer) when he had the parts. I once was very positive about Asko products now I'm not quite sure.

ASKO service appalling – Bought ASKO washing machine about five years ago for $1700 plus extra $ for extended warranty. The machine has required repairs twice in 5 years the second and current repair being the computer board needs replacing. We live in Qld. ASKO service centre operates from Victoria. Have been waiting 4 weeks now for repairs to be effected, parts to… Read more

be flown up from Melbourne. Continually given wrong information, a total non-caring attitude to customer satisfaction or assistance, they seem to have no idea what is happening in their service department. Contacted the ASKO extended warranty insurer to try and rectify but in the end just fobbed off back to the incompetence of ASKO service department. Have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get resolution but still waiting after 4 weeks. We had similar difficulty when the first repairs were required. We will NEVER buy ASKO again. So disappointed in an expensive washing machine that is starting to look like a "lemon".

Won't buy ASKO again – I've had our ASKO W6863 for 4 years and in that time the computer has broken twice - once under warranty and just recently just out of warranty which cost $450 to fix. They don't even back their own products giving the repairs a 6month warranty on the new part. I've found the machine washes well however I would expect due to the expense of the machine that if would last longer than it has. Won't be buying ASKO again.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING AN ASKO WASHING MACHINE – ASKO is no longer in West Australia, which means, in reality, no support service other than from the Eastern States. I purchased this model to replace another ASKO that had lasted for-ever, well over a decade and a half, without missing a beat. After three years, almost to the day of the expiration of the warranty, the computer board on the… Read more

$2,000 replacement went kaput. The advice given to me, by a customer service operator, with much mirth on her part, was that a replacement would cost $500, plus delivery, plus I would have to get it installed. Give me a break!

As to the washing performance, pretty average, as well.

This is the trick to obtaining a product with integrity: before you choose, call the manufacturer direct to ask where the product - THE MODEL SPECIFICALLY - is manufactured and, more importantly, assembled.

I now have a Bosch washing machine, manufactured and assembled in Germany, which is an absolute gem.

Very disappointed – Very disappointed with this machine. Wash cycles are way too long - 3.5 hours for a heavy wash, 2.5 hours for a normal wash! Doesn't clean well at all - newly purchased whites now have perspiration stains, son's work clothes come out as dirty as they went in. Extremely poor rinsing - everything is stiff even when adding an extra rinse,… Read more

especially towels. Machine makes an awful racket when spinning and 8/10 times when a load is finished and End is displayed clothes are still sopping wet and I have to re-spin. Definitely not worth the money. Economical. Doesn't wash well, extremely poor rinsing, cycles are way too long.

After hearing all the hype. Very disappointed – purchased in November, 2010 after 13 yrs of top load simpson. Very disappointed with the wash. Doesn't get things clean, shrinks new clothes, loud, always leaked. 4 months after warranty finished glass door imploded into load of washing. Back up service - nil. Can't wait to get rid of it - not worth the money.

Excellent – Overall, we're quite pleased that we upgraded to this Asko from a basic model LG. It used to take me 5 hrs to do 2 loads - now I can do the same in 2 hrs. It has made a big difference to the precious free time that I have. It corrects all the problems we had with our cheap front loader: it can do a 6kg load in about an hour (our last took 2.5… Read more

hrs for a cotton cycle); its quiet; and it has features to reduce mold (automatically opens door when load done; no rubber rim). Its also quite sleek - digital display; soap dispenser has an IKEA like design to it). It doesn't have a dozen fussy cycles, but that's what I like about it - it offers great flexibility, and it is very, very easy to change standard options (i.e. white/colour/heavy loads). It even remembers your last used option, if you alter standard # spins, temperature, etc. It took me a couple of days to get a hang of the fact that the door needs to be closed LAST. Lock the door, and our machine starts the Auto cycle - even if you turn it off.

After 8 service and repair calls this machine still leaks – When this machine is working its great. For a family of 4 it does an excellent job and the handwash function is unbelievable (I put in all my most delicate woollens and cardigans) and they come out fantastic. The problem is that it works for a few months and then starts leaking. You will become good friends with the Asko service people if… Read more

A good runner! – After long and agonizing deliberations, run tests and review comparisons, we bought decided that Asko W6863 was the best bang for the dollar, given its water/energy ratings and quality. 3 months of intensive use have proven the following: A simple and well-built machine with no superfluous features that never get used. Having been a front loader… Read more ·  2

user almost all my life, I must agree that Asko offers a superb washing quality. Very quiet and more importantly stable during 1600 rpm spin! Was leaking slightly from under the door initially, however the repair man has readjusted the rubber seal and the problem has been gone ever since. No interim spin on short cycle, but using a liquid detergent with a little less of the recommended dose solves the hassle of extra rinsing. Hard to predict time of wash due to constantly changing input parameters (load weight, water temperature etc.) but this is not a problem on cold only cycles. Overall very happy with this appliance, just a few little "odds" that don't make me absolutely love it and give all hands up for it!

Can't stand it...so many clothes ruined! – I am so dissapointed with this machine....it has shrunk so many new t shirts, and I am not a novice at washing....kids are 20 and 18 years old. I am now at the point that I wash only on cold (no temp) and have reduced the spin to 400rpm! One of the key selling points was the rpm! I now have to iron EVERTHING! The clothes are so hard and dry… Read more

that they are uncomfortable to wear initially! As for the towels... I now re-damp and use the dryer....great for the environment!! I even try hanging on the line at night to help the issue....to no avail!! I have changed washing products and now know what everyone on the market is like!! Never before have I had so much fuss with a machine!! It has increased my time in the laundry and now at the ironing board!!! As I was talked into buying a front loader by girlfriends and sales assistants, I completely feel ripped off and it is the bain of my life!!! Help....what do I do!!!! Give me my money back would be a great start!!! Nothing, although it is quiet!!! Everything!!
