Terrible phone. Broke easy. SHOCKING customer service – Phone advertised as shock proof - shattered screen CT after fall of 20cm. Company simply don't care, terrible customer service. BTW: the phone was touchy, difficult to use/ terrible touch screen & the camera is TERRIBLE
Purchased in for $300.
Good (rarely found) Simple Phone – The R32 is a good simple phone lacking all those annoying bells and whistles. This call and text only device is ruggedly built, picks up the three 3G frequencies but....the interface is crude. No font options & too many button depressions required to achieve "most things" which is very annoying. Having said that - if you desire an 'Easy-Phone' (calls and texts only) the R32 is a serious option with a decent screen and equally decent touch-pad with good sized buttons. I got used to it quite quickly but am still annoyed by the button depressions needed when 'doing things' such as deleting messages, changing font case, adding calendar events etc etc.
Purchased in at Powdersafe for $99.
Ring volume control – I find this phone very good. The only thing I can't work out is the ring volume. I need to be able to turn it down and don't know how to do it. Other than that, it's a good easy phone.
Purchased in for $105.
What can you expect for $99 ? – Price is really at the lower end of the phone spectrum, but, for the money, it's reasonable value. It's not large and it's not delicate, basically it's old fashioned - which is really good for a lot of users. In use as a phone the sound is clear, both ways, great. The camera is, well, pretty grim, but OK for instant use provided you're not looking for detail.
The address book is a bit strange. It seems to be that the phone and SIM have differing data fields available for storage - which may be the fault of the SIM card. However, neither provide a field for street address etc - mobile no, home no, office no, fax no, company name, birthday are the only items it seems. It will accept vCard imports, but only to the fields mentioned of course.
The USB internet tethering is hassle free. Similarly, USB file transfer and storage.
Be handy to be able to turn off predictive text, yes, there is text input style selection but it seems to have a mind of it's own.
Supplied with a faulty charger which doesn't help, just as well it's a standard USB thing.
The absence of any PC program to connect with the phone is a major drawback to purchase. Having to create and move vCard files for contact data is a tad tedious, but probably preferable to re-keying the data in via the phone keypad.
So, as a phone, it works great, it's unlocked, and it's a cheap instant replacement for the phone you broke with internet data as a bonus. If you are looking beyond that you'll still need to keep looking... :)
