VW Australia for a goodwill repair and unless we paid another $2,000 for the fault to be fully diagnosed and prepare an accurate quotation for repair, they weren’t interested. Thank you for nothing VW. A Townsville engine rebuilder quoted around $12,000 for a replacement engine, not including the cost of removal and replacement of the rebuilt engine.
A Google search led me to ASV Euro Car Parts, who were able to supply a reconditioned engine with a 12 month warranty for a little under $6,000, which I bought around November 2024. I dealt with Mark Hammond, who is with the Brisbane store, via email and he was very easy to deal with and he readily addressed any queries I had. Mark regularly kept me updated on the progress of this purchase & ASV delivered it to my nominated repairer in Townsville, A1 Auto Care Specialist, who has provided excellent service
Since this engine has been fitted, a few minor issues have arose and Mark dealt with those issues promptly. Recently a crankcase seal commenced leaking and after contacting Mark, he advised replacement of that seal was a warrantable repair.
I have no hesitation in recommending this business for parts and their staff have been extremely helpful.
