  SQ5

Reviewing ex wife's experience in past 4 years that has been unfortunately nothing short of a nightmare. Bought second hand with approximately 120Ks on the clock. Admittedly the car is powerful and comfortable when all is OK, BUT when things start to go wrong it's a horrible experience. First problem was supposedly with turbo failure and ended with a myriad of other components also. Long story short, the car was taken to Audi service centre (which by the way recommend to stay away from) in Sydney and 15Ks later and months of the car going back and forth because it was breaking down every other month. Car was not fixed to an acceptable standard and Audi did not want to continue with it. Eventually another mechanic solved the problem by again swapping out the turbo and other electronic modules and sensors which cost 12K. Next came steering failure by traveling through a couple of inches deep pool of water. Apparently the Audi SQ5 is not designed for that, which took out the steering rack and module while driving which is dangerous . Finally the transmission has given way also while driving and is now locked in park. Personally I think all these newer cars especially in the last two decades that have sensors and modules for everything along with four cylinder diesel turbo engines are a joke and are built with a five year lifespan at most before problems arise. Could be that ex purchased a lemon but just wanted to warn others.

Fantastic Car – Unbelievable performance from a SUV. It's a 2013 model bought second hand with 60k on the clock. Had a hayman reece towbar fitted and intend to tow a campervan. Have driven it with 5 passengers and 3 bikes on the back for a 6 hours country holiday. Could not tell that we had so much weight on the car. Very comfortable ride. Highly recommend this car.

Audi Performance machine. SQ5 – The SQ5 is truly a performance machine. 0-100km in 5.1 seconds has the grunt to get you out of trouble quickly. Not that you can actually do that speed anywhere around Sydney, but it's there if you need it. The SQ5 is a luxuries SUV, ( but not really suitable for serious off road). Fits four passengers comfortably and is a very smooth ride. The only minor thing, is there is no USB port which is easily accessible. The SQ5 is a little over priced but once you take it for a test drive and hear the rumbling of the exhaust system, you will be going for the cheque book in a hurry.

Love the car! – Excellent performance, handling and economy. Comfortable for touring and enough space for golf gear and bags for a couple on an extended holiday. Easily the most practical and easy car that I have driven in over 40 years of driving experience. The service from Audi matches the quality of the car. I have had no faults with this car or my previous Q5. Excellent value for my money!

One of the best purchases I've made – I have a business that requires me to drive approximately 3+ hours to/from work each day. I chose this over the Porsche Macan, BMW X5/X4, and Range Evoque. The Evoque was boring to drive, felt slow as a 4cylinder and had too many exterior bits in plastic. The BMW didn't offer the same performance for the same money as the SQ5 and the Porsche didn't offer the same value (literally would have cost $140k + with same amount of options as SQ5 standard). I also wasn't willing to wait 6months+ for it to arrive.

Comparing to the others, this is by far one of the best SUVs for the money that you can buy for under $100k.

The 8 speed gearbox makes the trip smooth and comfortable and the SQ5 comes with so much as standard in comparison to other manufacturers. The engine has been defined as one of the most sophisticated diesels ever made as you get fantastic power with brilliant fuel economy.

I mostly drive it in Comfort mode during the week but every so often on freeways or when I'm in moving traffic and want to get around cars, switch it to Dynamic where it transforms into a beast. The exhaust note changes to a wild growl and the acceleration and steering becomes a lot more responsive making it feel like a couple sports car. I love to just let it fly effortlessly on the freeway where you can tell it was designed for roads like the German Autobahn while keeping room for kids and groceries!

The reverse parking sensors and camera work as well as the integrated diagram make it easier to park than my last BMW 2 door coupe.

Having driven a number of BMWs in my time, I won't say the steering is as responsive but overall I feel the quality and package is a lot more put together then the new BMWs. It's the perfect all rounder, fast and practical, offering superior performance and great standard options in a classy, understated package that doesn't look too flashy or tacky.

I've had it now for about 10 000kms and still enjoy driving and getting into it every morning and still look occasionally look back and admire it when walking away after parking. Service costs are very reasonable and I've never had any issues with it which would be covered by the 3 year unlimited warranty.

Once again if you need a practical car that's fuel efficient but fun and sporty for a family under $100k look no further.

Now getting closer to reaching 20 000kms. Still happy driving it, have had zero issues and with a newborn, it fits the baby seat nicely while still being able to comfortably seat me infront ( I am 6 foot / 182cm tall) and fits the Bugaboo Chameleon in the boot provided when collapsed and you remove the boot tray.

getting approximately 8.5L/100km with a mix of highway / peakhour traffic getting across the Sydney Harbour bridge.

Comparing it to a friend's new Range Rover Sport, while it doesnt look as plush with the interior or have the same offroad capability ( I dont go offroad) , it handles a lot better, is faster and doesnt feel massive and like parking a ship. Audi hit the nail on the head in terms of balancing its compactness with space.
