We love our AOR yet we are disappointed with many aspects of its performance and reliability. In 18 months of ownership, we have experienced many things that have failed which we didn't expect from a brand that prides itself on robustness and… Read more

reliability. Our pop-top roof rivets have failed twice. Our anti-sway system has failed twice. Our black tank pump has failed. Our tank measuring gauge/lights have failed. For a van that costs over $120,000, and is only 18 months old, these are serious and disappointing failures.

Follow-up  · AOR resolved all our issues for us and only charged us for servicing our van. They upheld their warranty obligations. Very pleased with their service.

Terribly disappointing – After much research I chose AOR based on reputation for quality campers and excellent after sales service. The reality has been a disaster trying to get warranty issues honoured. I could not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I'm considering selling the $120k+ camper if and when the issues get rectified because I don't want to go through… Read more

the stressful experience of trying to deal with them again. The head of the warranty department is incompetent in terms of how he has dealt with my defects. Other people I spoke to in the company equally unhelpful and even dishonest and trying everything to avoid being accountable.

They are losing workers at a rapid rate and emails are just frequently ignored and not actioned. If you're interstate you're left dealing with useless service agents, many of whom stay on AOR's preferred list despite numerous owner complaints over years. Owners close to Caloundra or multiple owners seem to get the best service. The number of complaints in the owners group has grown exponentially over the last 18 months.

This is the sort of service I could envisage if you bought a cheap Chinese made camper from a dodgie dealer. The biggest mistake of my life financially was going with this company.

Poor after sales service for what is claimed to be a premium product – We took delivery of our Quantum in October 2021. It had it's first long-haul trip between May and July 2022 from NSW across to WA up to the Kimberley, across the Gibb River Road and down to Alice Springs and home to NSW. Firstly the good bits; Easy to tow; easy to set up; great layout; good outdoor kitchen and layout. The bad bits; At Karajini… Read more

WA a downpour resulted in the awning leaking from the roof-to-awning seam. Very inconvenient when the water drips onto the kitchen (NB no indoor cooking). At the end of the Gibb River Road, which shouldn't be a real challenge given the off-road claims Australian Offroad (AOR) boast about, a scissor arm roof support rivet sheared off which ultimately led to another rivet shearing off (a few hundred klms from Alice Springs) resulting in a two hour wrestle to bring the roof down. The roof support arms no longer tracked straight so the roof wouldn't close. The phone support from AOR was good and they suggested Ross Engineering in Alice Springs. We had to pay Ross Engineering directly and warranty claim when returning home. At this point I have to seriously question the legitimacy of AOR's so called national warranty because our warranty claim and reimbursement for these roof repairs have not yet been paid. The other problem we had by the time we reached Alice Springs was a leaking airbag on the suspension. This became really tiresome overnight because the airbag would completely lose air within a few hours and of course unlevel the whole van making sleeping a problem. Of course the van support legs are not up to keeping the van level and nor were they designed to do this. Alice Springs, as a lot of you would know, is peak season in July so we could not have the airbag repaired in a reasonable time so we continued on home and booked the van into AOR Gosford for service and repair. It took them over 8 weeks to diagnose and repair the airbag fault. Apparently an incorrect airbag inlet valve had been fitted during the manufacturing process. So in summary; An Australian Offroad (AOR) 14' Quantum is well over $100,000 and we bought it for the claimed off-road ability, their national warranty and aftersales service. In my view it has failed on all counts; the Gibb River Road shouldn't be too much of a challenge for an AOR van (and we didn't venture up to the Mitchell Plateau) but it had two major faults; the roof supports and the suspension. To take over 8 weeks to diagnose and repair an airbag problem is too long; is it lack of resources or expertise or both? And you have to question their "national warranty" because as at November 23rd 2022 they have NOT reimbursed us for the roof repairs in Alice Springs and I submitted the claim on September 2nd. AOR have two service centres (Caloundra and Gosford) so where does that leave warranty repairs/claims for the rest of Australia? Unfortunately things do wrong (even when they shouldn't at this price point) but a company is then judged by how well it fixes and responds to problems. And AOR have responded poorly.

4 Years ownership of an AOR Matrix – I picked up a new AOR Matrix in Caloundra in 2018 . I selected AOR over other brands based on the legendary after sales support offered by AOR. I had a few problems with delivery . Dates changing, to the extent that Car electricals were scheduled a week different to the actual van pick up, I eventually was able to correct this after contacting… Read more

AOR management. Van was fine during first 12 months then covid Curtailed trips for 15 months. After starting to travel again 12 months ago I started to have Major suspension problems ( multiple wheel studs breaking) AOR attempted to sort this problem without success. When I contacted AOR Head office they offered no solution, I expected them to tell me to bring the van in and they would sort it out all I got was that they had never heard of anyone breaking multiple studs .,,eventually got to the bottom of this through a suspension specialist who diagnosed and sorted the problem. These vans are right on the weight limit for a single axel caravan, you are not able to carry much if you had included extra options like Air Conditioning as there is not much Leeway before reaching your legal limit with full water tanks Ect. Subsequent to this ,I now find that both the Lithium batteries have failed after less that 2 years of use and two years of storage , I have slavishly followed the storage recommendations for the batteries. I would have expected that these Lithium batteries would last 7 -10 years (like my Lithium Golf Buggy batteries have) . AOR were not interested in helping with replacement of the batteries, the response was send them to us at caloundra QLD (1500klms away) and we will look at them, They said New ones $1300- each our battery warranty is 2 years. I am not authorised to reduce this price. I got no better longevity than Lead Acid batteries at a fraction of the price.

So I sit here thinking I have paid a massive premium for a High quality van and legendary support service and feel I have been let down. So this is cautious tale for anyone considering an AOR order.

Magnificent Quantum series 3 – I have an Australian Off Road Quantum, series 3. It is a magnificent machine, set up in 3 or 4 minutes. The standard of construction is first rate, with every bit of it using high quality parts, fitted perfectly. The stainless pull out kitchen is enormous, easy to clean and provides great storage. The fridge is built especially for this van and… Read more

operates perfectly.

With 240 amps if power via 2 agm batteries, and 280watts of solar on the roof, there is ample power to live off grid for ages. That, combined with the 240l of water, means you can stay in freecamps for ages.

The macerator toilet and hot shower are bliss in the bush.

Overall, a magnificent machine, and all Australian made.

Every Bit Perfect – We purchased our Off Road camper nearly 12 months ago and could not be happier. From the sign up to the build to the end product "it is the best". Everything they said it would do it has done, every detail in its finished quality is to a standard way above the rest. The staff, the trades, made the whole purchase and handover excellent. Thankyou AOR  Show details
