I have ASD2 and was having a procedure at Avenue Dental Beerwah but my anesthesia was cancelled and I hadn't taken my anxiety medication nor did I have my carer/advocate with me so I was in an extremely high state of stress (bordering on a meltdown) and unable to make an informed decision to proceed while awake. I felt pressured to make the… Read more
decision right then and there to go ahead with the procedure or re-book, even though I couldn't communicate my internal distress and so I continued with the procedure in an environment that exceeded my sensory limits. The dentist then made a remark comparing me to other Autistic patients who 'manage just fine' which made me feel like he was shaming me for a physiological response I can't control and invalidating my sensory issues. This comment pushed me over the edge and I had a meltdown that lasted days. Under healthcare standards, practitioners have a duty to provide "person-centered care." Comparing one patient to another to shame them is a breach of that standard and a form of medical gaslighting. When I was asked weeks later by receptionist if the dentist could call me about my 1 star Google review, I immediately took it down as I felt incredibly intimidated knowing the scrutiny would be on me to justify and explain why my experience and distress was valid enough to give them a 1 star. I didn't get that phone call which I assume is either because the intimidation worked and the review disappeared, or hopefully because they realised that this was ethically and morally not a very good idea on their part when communication in person or on phone is distressing enough for me without feeling like I'm being attacked for my opinion. If the dentist was truly confused about why they were accused of gaslighting, they don't need a phone call with me—they need professional development. I have decided to explain that review in the hope that there is some professional reflection on my feedback to improve communication and practice with ASD patients moving forward.
Outstanding Invisalign Experience with Dr. Rita Goulart at Avenue Dental Maroochydore. I’ve recently completed my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Rita Goulart, and I genuinely couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the very first appointment, Rita stood out - not just as an incredibly skilled dentist, but as someone who genuinely… Read more
cares about achieving the best possible outcome for her patients.
I always knew my lower teeth were crooked, but I had no idea how much of a difference correcting my upper teeth would make as well. The transformation has gone far beyond just straightening my smile. The change in my overall facial balance, my confidence, and even my day-to-day happiness has been incredible — far more than I expected.
Throughout the entire process, Rita explained every step clearly, monitored my progress closely, and made adjustments proactively to ensure the final result wasn’t just good, but perfect. Her attention to detail, her professionalism, and her dedication to achieving the best possible aesthetic outcome truly set her apart.
Rita is one of the most thorough, compassionate, and talented dentists I’ve ever met. If you’re considering Invisalign or dental treatment of any kind, I can honestly say you won’t find anyone more committed to your comfort, confidence, and results.
Highly recommended. Thank you, Rita, this experience has genuinely been life-changing.
seem to have done a good job as far i can tell but rediculouslly expensive
Very pushy dentist. Wanted me to have an appointment with some external company that would help me release my super (for a fee of course) to pay for expensive cosmetic treatment ($40-50K!). This is a huge conflict of interest and goes against the ATO and AHPRA guidelines.
Dr Rammal at Woolloongabba is exceptional – Avenue dental: I really feel compelled to share my experience with Avenue Dental and Dr. Michael Rammal in particular because I’ve come to appreciate recently that you have one set of teeth for your whole adult life and the amount they affect your life and the quality of your life is really meaningful. So it’s important to take care of them and… Read more
keep them for as long as possible.
I myself have been really neglectful of my teeth and often have been slack with my oral hygiene which led me to putting off my regular dental appointments. I have a milestone birthday coming up snd decided it was time to bite the bullet (metaphorically - Dr. Rammal would probably not recommend biting any bullets with your pearly whites). The only way to get better was to dive in and a friend had recommended seeing Dr. Rammal, so I made an appointment to go in and have an assessment and to commit to doing better.
When I arrived I was really stuck by the clinic, super cute location and despite being so close to the city you had heaps of parking. The clinic itself aesthetically was so pretty, like out of a magazine.
I did get a teensy bit lost walking in as I didn’t google before going but I called and the receptionist was so helpful in giving me directions from where I was standing to where the clinic was.
Dr Rammal and his assistant Marissa were so nice and welcoming. You honestly just felt more at ease meeting them. The terrifying dentists of my youth seem to be a thing of the past.
We started our consult and I was so impressed by the clinics incorporation of the latest technology in the process. Mapping my mouth with a 3D scanner and on site full rotating dental X-rays. It seems like they really invest in the equipment to make the process better for the patient. Really commend the clinic for this as it really added to my experience and made things much more comfortable. You could tell they were investing in their practice and in turn into you as a patient.
Then we went about the normal look about the mouth. They did an oral cancer check which is something I didn’t even know you saw your dentist for, so that was great.
Where I had expected scolding and judgement I was actually met with kindness and expertise. Dr Rammal clearly went over the areas that needed improvement from myself - to my surprise far fewer than I expected and also the work that needed to be done by him (a filling).
Then they actually took me through the X-rays and mapping of my mouth that they had taken on a large screen where Dr Rammal was able to show me the areas of his concern that I needed to focus on and also the area where he would need to conduct a filling. It strangely felt really inclusive and actually being able to see my own teeth and have a look at what they see when they’re all up in your mouth was great. It felt like we were on the same team as one another for the health of my teeth rather than sort of going in and being a little shamed and scolded.
The other element was that I did not ever feel rushed. I wasn’t just another booking in the diary they wanted to smash out and get on with. They really took the time to walk me through everything and to address my concerns and questions.
We made a follow up appointment for my clean and filling. I also wanted to come back and have a chat about some Invisalign because as I said I have come to the desire to do my best to keep my teeth healthy and for as long as possible and as a clench-er I can see my teeth moving and want to address this now I’m diving into it all.
I can’t overstate how much I wish I had done this sooner. How much better I felt after the consult with Dr Rammal. I’ve built it up overtime as such a big thing in my mind that it was such a relief to have this wonderful experience at Avenue Dental.
I truly would recommend Dr Rammal to everyone. If you can get an appointment he is truly the one you want to see. I was so impressed by his manner, his expertise and high clinical standards.
Excited to get back and start my process for Invisalign.
I hope sharing this experience offers some insight for someone and the recommendation my friend gave me gets passed along. Dr Michael Rammal at Avenue Dental Woolloongabba - you really won’t regret it.
Expensive and use pushy sales tactics – Insanely expensive and very pushy. So much so that some of the dentists at Avenue would make good car sales people or estate agents. If you hate the hard sell - avoid this place like the plague.
Worst experience of my life and resulted in stitches – A filling resulted in multiple stitches in my lip. No apologies or explanation give until I contacted owner to complain. Still took weeks to hear why/how I had been cut and I found out through a friend of a friend because confidentiality was clearly breached by Avenue Dental •I was administered a numbing agent. Not being told it was adrenaline… Read more
or asked if u had had it before.I became extremely agitated from it and my body felt funny. No one paid attention to this reaction nor did it numb me. I had 3 injections before Dr began. •There was no communication the whole time about what was being done. I was not told “we are finished with that tooth” or” just adding the fillings back in now”. Nothing. No updates or information shared at all. •I had to yell out stop. I felt a burning pain somewhere under my lip. No one told me what had happened and There was very little communication at all between dentist and assistant at this stage. Which I can only assume is because everyone knew they had done something very wrong. [Name Removed] went back and forward a few times removing the gaze and getting a new one. Before she asked the assistant to get sutures. •I was numb and had Dr applying pressure to the wound. communication on my side was difficult, however no excuse for Dr’s lack of communication. I tried to communicate asking “so your putting stiches in my mouth”? her response was pretty constant being you have a cut, and we need to apply a suture. Again, I would say so your putting stiches in my mouth. Her response was consistent but not once saying yes, which made me confused that sutures were something different. Which I didn’t think they were, but I could not understand why she was not both communicating to me and answering me directly. Dr’s hands were a shaky . Out of pure frustration and fear for what was happening I tried to pull away from her to get my words less muffled. I said,“look I understand if you’re a little scared, but you need to explain to me what is happening right now”. She pretty much just repeated herself again saying you have a cut we need to apply a suture and I need to put pressure on the cut. So, we sat there in silence for a few minutes until the dental assistant came back. •No numbing agents were added to my lip, so I felt the stich and the whole procedure. I could feel the cut as well so at this point my understanding of how deep I had been cut was dawning on me. Upon completion I pulled away asking what was happening. Again, simple I had got a cut and like with any cut needed a suture so one was applied. •I then explained that I was not happy with the suture as I could feel my mouth/lip was crooked. They were confused about what to do. I again was gentle with Dr saying, “I think you freaked out because of all the blood and just administered a stich quickly to close the wound but this is crocked and needs to be fixed up. •Numbing needles were finally applied to my lip however I could feel the cut still, so I was getting very scared. I also realised we were doing more thanone stitch. Which again made me realise how bad it was. I think it was around this time I was given my first apology. The dental assistant said “I am so sorry this happened to you”. •Before completion Dr asked if I wanted another stich. I replied, “I’m not a doctor or a dentist I wouldn’t know”. A photo was taken, and I could finally see what happened. Dr said there was 1cm between the 2 stitches. Again, making me wonder how she would think one stich would hold the cut in place. •I was very weak and dizzy from blood loss and multiple medications. The dental assistant said that could be due to the adrenaline that was administered to me at the start as well as blood loss. •no explanation was offered to me when leaving. I sat in the car shaking on the verge of tears. I had 10min to get to chemist before they closed To buy my own antibiotics from The cut. I was very drugged up and should not have been aloud to drive. I didn’t realise at the time due to the trauma and invasion I felt
I received more apologies from other dentist studios then I did from your practice and staff. I have never had such a dramatic and violated experience in my whole life. And to find out from a third party instead of the clink, disgusting
Best Dentist Hands Down – Im not much of a person who writes reviews but Avenue Dental Bli Bli really deserve this one. I originally went in for dental hygine which was well overdue. I then ended up seeing Dr Nicole, one of the best dentist ive been to hands down. repair several chipped teeth and cracked fillings, all my fault not seeing a dentist been in a fly in fly out job for many years.Well 8 crowns later and a bridge and my teeth have never felt better. So glad i listened to Dr Nicole on my first consultation.Everyone from Nicoles dental assistant front desk are super friendly and experienced in what they do. Thank You everyone.
Amazing professionalism and service – My three recent visits to Dr Cassi Correia at Avenue Dental were nothing short of exceptional. She has truly redefined the dental experience for me, emphasizing patient well-being and making each appointment incredibly comfortable.
Dental experience – I was very uptight to start but found Dr Brendan Clarnette very calming and reassuring. The experience was great if you can say that about a visit to the dentist. I would totally recommend Dr Brendan.
Best dentist I have ever had – I am extremely nervous about seeing a dentist. Dr Mark ‘Spencer is the best I have ever seen. Not does he always put me at ease he is calm and gentle.. That was over 2 years ago. I returned to Avenue Dental Caloundra after moving to Bribie Island to get a second opinion from him after being told by another dentist that my front too required an… Read more
extraction. He performed a very delicate and risky procedure and saved the tooth. I cannot recommend him more highly.
Too big and too expensive – My whole family and I have been to Avenue Dental for over 12 months for various services. I’ll begin with the orthodontics my husband got. When he went for the initial appointment he specifically asked for fixed retainers after his braces to which the orthodontist agreed however once she put on the braces, she continued to berate with him with her… Read more
opinion that fixed retainers were no good and in America (where she is from) they do not put them on patients. The day he got his braces removed, she refused to put on the fixed retainer because she wanted him to wear a temporary one to begin with. Her service to him was absolutely appalling to say the least. I had 7 fillings replaced, yep 7! And one of them weren’t done correctly, so they fixed it (“under warranty”) however they still charged me and my private health fund for the work, and when I questioned it, I was made out to be an imbecile and that the fees were correct. Our, toddler has had checkup appointments with them and we use private health, and we still pay out of pocket costs with his services. Within 12 months, we have paid approximately $15k to Avenue Dental and I’m now questioning whether all of the work was totally necessary. The clinics services are totally overpriced and if you have private health, expect to pay a lot of “out of pocket” costs! They’re not transparent enough with their fees, they don’t have patients best interests at heart - they simply try to be the biggest and best dentist in the Sunshine Coast, and we are all expected to pay for that. So we have now moved our whole family to another family friendly dentist and we will never recommend Avenue Dental to any family or friends.
