Was useful for limiting effects of flat head – We bought this pillow after we noticed our first baby started getting a flat head at the back. She was formula fed so slept for long periods of time. After we got the pillow the flatness on the back of her head wasn’t as bad. It eventually went away as she got older. We would use this product again..
Do not buy!!! – I bought this pillow to prevent my daughter from getting flat head & this pillow is what caused her flat head & made it MUCH MUCH worse! The part of the pillow that is supposed to support her neck got thinner & thinner & didn't support it at all. I WOULD NOT recommend this pillow to anyone. It's honestly a waste of money.
This pillow caused our baby to get plagiocehaly – I totally regret buying this product! Our baby developed 2 flat spots on the back of his head from this pillow. We have just come back from seeing an Orthotist for an assessment for a helmet and he said that he sees many babies with flat spots due to using THIS pillow. I find it so incredibly frustrating that they can sell a product that is… Read more
supposed to prevent baby flat head, when in fact it actually causes it!!
The only reason i left one star was because i couldn't leave zero stars
Avoid at all costs!!!
It caused our baby to get flat spots on his head
Good – This Lovenest works amazing to cradle baby's head and reduce development of flat-head. Simple idea that really works. Gives parents piece of mind and is great for the first four months after birth, and then isn't needed once baby learns to roll. It is compact and lightweight but isn't a pillow, and it provides excellent support for next and head.… Read more
Even though it is no longer available i would really recommend looking for the replacement product baby-head-rest as it is a great product to help with a growing problem in australian infants - plagiocephaly. Fantastic support for infants head, gives piece of mind to parents about flat-head concerns, using while baby is 0 - 4 months of age really helps to reduce anxiety of the condition and formation of plagiocephaly, used to be available from a wide range of retailers and online stores. This product is no longer available in Australia and has been replaced by the wholesaler with a new similar product that is shaped like an apple instead of a love heart. The shape and name were orginially a bit dodgy but this new Baby-head-rest is a better designed and quality product!
Memory foam !!! Potential Dangerous for baby use? – Nice shape design however could be dangerous! Memory form is recognized to be dangerous for babies use and pose a high risk of suffocation. SHOULD NOT be used in a baby cot. For SAFETY: look for anti-suffocation baby pillow (example using 3D spacer fabric) For Effectiveness: Look for Not too stiff yet enough to withstand the weight of… Read more
baby head. (with scientific or Medical case study evident would be even better) Nice shape and colour, cheap (MIC) Memory form is recognized to be dangerous for babies use and pose a high risk of suffocation. SHOULD NOT be used in a baby cot.
Good – It's hard to say whether the pillow really contributed to the now nice round shape of my baby's head. However given that doing all the recommended things to encourage him to turn his head to remove pressure on the flat bit and strengthen his neck muscles (eg. turning the cot around, placing toys to the opposite side, tummy time, wedging his head… Read more
during sleep...) without a lot of success, I felt comforted in the fact that at least I was trying *something* to prevent it from getting worse. I'd recommend the pillow simply because it worked for us.
Note that once the baby is strong enough to lift its head, the baby just rolls off the pillow and it becomes ineffective, but by that stage the skull is probably fairly firm and the pillow wouldn't do much to help things anyway. That's the point at which I stopped using it. At around 3 months my baby started to get a flat head on the side which he seemed to keep favouring. We started using the Lovenest and I feel that it probably prevented the flatness from getting worse and saved me the hassle of having to try turning his head once asleep. At that age the skull is still reasonably maleable, so without constant pressure on the flat bit and with increasing tummy time, his head seemed to improve to the point where at 5-6 months old the flatness was gone. Expensive for what it is. No removable cover so you need to wash the whole pillow and you can't use a standard cover because of the heart shape. With all the baby head turning, over time the knit jersey fabric in the cradle part of the pillow started pilling (more an aesthetic issue and I ended up custom making a pillow cover to prevent the pilling and for hygene).
Excellent – Would never do without it and would recommend to anyone to get it for their child. I thick it is a must, we really don't know what flat heads do to our children. I have heard people say that flats head in babies contribute to developmental problems. We had a baby that had a flat head and is now flat for ever, with our next child, we got the… Read more
Lovenest Pillow and people always comment on her nice shape head. Expensive, not sure about he heart shape.
Excellent – Our baby had torticollis (wry neck), which is basically a stiff neck from birth and caused her to hold her head to the right side. The pillow allowed us to prevent her from developing positional plagiocephaly (flattened head) as her head is cradled in the pillow rather than resting against the flat mattress. She was receiving chiropractic care and… Read more
we were attempting to encourage her to turn/hold her head to the left but she still tended to end up sleeping to the right and this gave us a lot of peace of mind as we were able to put her down comfortably. This condition affects 1 in 5 babies! Very simple to use, allows plenty of movement/baby to turn head to vommit etc., safe to use. The love-heart shape is a little daggy and just means it takes up more space than necessary. It's was quite expensive.
