This chair nearly killed me – It has a weight capacity of 120kg, it was fine for a couple of weeks, but out of nowhere a part of the plastic snapped, fell off my chair, it broke, and i hit my head, coxic and some nerve in my back has gone out im 67kg btw..... and 26 years old.... i bought the chair no longer 8 weeks ago.....i dont know exactly how to pursue this matter further
Hmm – Chair was good for a while. The arm rest has screws coming up from underneath, which after about 8 months started ripping the material and now stab me everytime pressureisapplied. Show details
Bathurst Office Chair from Officeworks Glen Waverley – I purchased this office chair in Dec 2020 and within 8 months of usage the gas lift has started leaking. This is unusual as I have purchased few other office chairs in the past from the same store. The issue is further worsened by the attitude and behaviour of the ignorant staff at Officeworks Glen Waverley, examples of which are below. I am… Read more
informed by Jamie, in a loud voice that was uncalled for - 1. The gas lift does not carry any warranty. 2. It is a consummable item and is available for purchase as replacement. 3. Over a period of time the gas leaks due to usage (This is absurd if it means leaking externally as it rarely happens) 4. Any chairs purchased from this store henceforth will not carry any warranties on gas lifts. On reiterating that I would like to escalate this further, Jamie advises that they will try and attend to it if the chair is brought to their store. (as if it is a favor). Apart from product and quality evaluation, the store should, on priority, ensure product and customer service training to staff who are suppose to interact with customers for resolving such issues.
Great... at first.... And then – I bought the blue and black chair from Officeworks only 7 months ago for $150. Sure, it was comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and so on, in the beginning. NOW.. it can be very uncomfortable to sit in after a short amount of time. My lower back gets sharp twinges after just a couple of hours or so. And the padding on the bottom area is literally… Read more
flattened out. I have to use a cushion to give myself some padding. Then there's the problem with the right arm rest. It has become loose and I have no idea how to tighten it up. As the joint (which is likely to be the problem) has no way of being able to tighten it with a screwdriver, alan key or whatever. The overall appearance is still great. The material has lasted beautifully, thank goodness. No wear or tear in it. And it get's used for up to 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. Sadly though, the lack of proper comfortable padding and the loose arm rest is what lets this chair down now. Hence, my 2 star rating. If only I could fix those two problems, I would have given the chair 5 stars indeed.
Back 6 years ago these chairs were amazing, now not so much, the quality has dramatically decreased! – 6 Years ago my fiance and I bought two of these chairs which mine is still currently standing very old and tattered though, I bought my fiance a new one 1 year ago for Christmas and honestly it is complete rubbish now it's already ruined it's not stable within just 1 week the arm supports had completely deflated/squashed down, bad quality, the… Read more
material it's made of doesn't even seem the same but it's the same chair, same store, same price but not lasting anywhere near as long. After about a month it started just randomly moving down to the ground (my fiance has it on the highest setting). Will not be buying another unfortunately, really loved the first two we bought.
Good chair but – It's comfortable for the first hour. Then I get pains in my back where I have to get up and stretch to stop it from aching. All in all the chair isn't worth the money. Buy a better and more expensive one so your assured comfort Show details
Comfortable and a great price! – I have been looking at a few different chairs for my work office and after I used my friends chair that she had at her home office it was so comfortable and when she told me what chair it was I went straight Officeworks and purchased it!! . The arms can go up or down which is great as well depending on your work desk, high recommend. Show details
Comfort at a low price – I after a few years of looking at this chair in Officeworks sat in one in my friends house. I had been looking a these chairs but I had never sat in one for any length on time. I was at my my house helping him with his computer. I was loading in software and re-configuring his computer and he said I should use the Bathurst chair while I was… Read more
doing it.
As soon as I sat in the chair I could feel how comfortable it is.
I sat for about 3 hours while I was working on the computer and I never felt sore or uncomfortable.
The chair fits the body very well, it has arm rests the support the arms while using the keyboard, it also it has a high back that supports the shoulders and if needed the neck.
About 2 days later I bought one and I was surprised at how easy it was to assemble.
The low price of this chair show up all of the other chairs at 3 to 4 times its price.
I now have a VERY COMFY chair I can use while working on my PCs.
The chair is: 1. Low priced and very affordable. 2. Easy to assemble. 3. Well made. 4. Is adjustable. 5. And most of all is very comfortable.
WELL DONE OFFICEWORKS!!!!!!!
BUT KEEP THE PRICE LOW SO MORE PEOPLE CAN ENJOY IT.
Good Chair – I bought a Bathurst Office Chair in august 2017 and didn't have a problem except the recliner plays up a bit. The old saying is you pay for what you want. My chair is fine for my usage Show details
Ok constuction bad covering – The chair is ok but the covering is not vinyl or leather or anything that will last more than a month or 2. When it comes off, and it will, it makes a huge mess. Show details
Poor quality – After 6 months use, the chair starts making loud cracking sounds constantly, and the cushion starts to flatten out where sit. Not worth the spend for the quality you get. Show details
Comfortable for a short time only – After having one of these chairs being recommended to me by a sales person at Officeworks, they said it was comfortable and affordable, sounded great to me... SOLD!! Screw me was that a mistake, i should have sat in it for more than 5 minutes, its great to lean back and relax in but using it at a computer desk for hours on end destroys your… Read more

Crash and burn – There are a few types of Bathurst Racer Chairs out there, I am referring to the one that Officeworks sells by J.Burrows. After two years the "firm" padding was virtually non-existent and the material had lost its "leather look" layer off the seat and arm rests. The ad says "for anyone who frequently works from an office" but then says "3-5 hours… Read more
usage at a time", why do they say that? Because it wont last the warranty period if you actually use it frequently working from an office. I could have made a better chair out of the box it came in. When I first got it I sent pictures of it to friends, now I close the office door when people visit so they cant see it. I have other types of chairs that still basically look the same as the day I brought them home but the Bathurst chair is so ratty looking its ready for the Council pick up. Very disappointed. With some better foam and material it would be awesome. Deserves Zero stars. It truly is a waste of money.
Comfortable – Well presented office chair that is comfortable with support where needed. It's arms are removable if needed. It design is good for gamers. Easily put together with minimal fuss and is a sturdy solid build. Nice selection of 2 tone colours which suit any decor. Show details
perfect but – its great fro my backpain and very very comfortable to sit on but i like more adjustments on it, tilt fucntions stuck at times and it needs to be more flexible, apart from that its all good. i will rate is 6/10 just average. Thanks Show details
this chair has changed my life – After using a very badly designed chair for a lot of years and suffering sholder , back and neck problems I bought this bathurst chair in 3 days of use my back, shoulder and neck have problems have diminished. This chair has worked wonders for my body Show details
Awful build quality – This chair is actually pretty damn comfortable and aesthetically pleasing to a point. The main problem is that its one of the most poorly built chairs you can buy - the foam went flat after 6 months, the gas in the lift died shortly after, and the kicker was when the left armrest actually snapped clean off after some light pressure. Don't bother.
Falling Apart – I have had this chair for maybe 5 years and the seat foam has diminished as the vinyl on the seat and arms. It is just separating from the backing. I have asked the supplier if I can buy new armrests and seat. Obviously bad materials, hopefully the newer seats are a better quality.
3 out of 5 – I've found, since owning one, my arms really ache after an extended sit. I've concluded that the arms maybe slightly higher than on my previous chairs and this positioning is causing that. It's too much of a coincidence for it not to be the case.
Put the helmet on to sit in this shonky chair – Looks can be deceiving. If there is one thing I do not like, is shoddy design. Whilst the chair is aesthetically pleasing and the chair has a moulded frame which is comfortable to sit in, the wheel set is very dangerous. I leant back in the chair to watch a show on Netflix through my PC when a wheel buckled and feel out of its socket. I spread… Read more
my arms out to grab hold of the furniture before I hit my head on the floor backwards. When I came to I examined the caster and socket. The caster wheel has a metal plug inset which goes into a moulded plastic sleeve which obviously gave way. As a general principle a good design would be to screw the wheel push pin or screw it into a metal socket. I was just out of warranty and so out of luck as the local Officeworks didn't want to know about it and brushed me off.
So be careful if you buy the Bathurst Chair, the wheel may collapse underneath you whilst leaning back and you could hit the floor quite hard.
I now call Officeworks is shonkyworks.
I have since checked for this feature in a new chair from somewhere else and I found a similarly priced chair with a solid metal base with screwed in caster wheels, which makes me feel a lot safer.
Comfortable and easy to assemble – After some use, the end of one of the arms of my office chair broke off. I was told clearly that this would not do and I needed to buy a new one. I headed off to the local Officeworks store which had a wide selection of products. The staff member was very helpful and provided us with a brochure to take home. After sitting on quite a few models i… Read more
narrowed the selection down to 1. It was just a matter of which colour. The item is the Bathurst Racer chair which retails for around $165. It is a bit of a standout but is comfortable and comes in 3 colour combinations. I liked the red on black but eventually settled on the blue on black (perhaps more practical).
The chair was a "flat pack" assembly product. I therefore proceeded with some trepidation. There was no need to because the installation instruction booklet was first rate. It is a long time since I have seen such an excellent assembly instruction document. Clearly the importer or whoever was responsible for the document is a professional. We all know this is definitely not the norm so congratulations. Once assembled the product itself appears just as good a quality as the assembly instructions. My only slight negative that I can find is that it is a little warm in the summertime. Not a big complaint though. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending this product
