And Bauhn, no help! No more Bauhn products from Aldi, for me!  Show details

Great, but – Well, reasonably cheap phone from Aldi, simple to set up with an Aldi sim card and $30 prepaid credit which uses the telstra network and gives cheap calls, sms and data use. I had the phone for about 3, maybe 4 years and it performed well, never giving any cause for complaint. That is, until the battery died, No replacement batteries are… Read more

Rubbish Very Disappointed – I purchased the new 5" dual sim 2 weeks ago. At first the camera didn't work then the whole phone shut down. I returned it to Aldi and was quite happy to get a replacement because I was convinced it should be a good phone but I just got a bad one. Unfortunately this new one will not connect to the internet so I cannot receive emails. I have… Read more

Pretty good to this stage – This smart phone is ok, it's better than another brand I had. Perhaps I didn't need such a big one, I think mine is 5.5" Bauhn Sphere... I've read complaints about it in other comments, The only thing with mine is the Battery does die when it says 50% approx. then I have to get the charger onto it within seconds, or it turns off. But it lasts… Read more

about 3 days till the next charge. The camera is clear, but the keyboard is touchy, so you just have to get used to it. But I love it. I hope I can get the photos I've taken onto the computer or I'll be devastated. Otherwise, Great.

August 1st 2018 Update: My Android Mobile from Aldi

I found it great, and still do, but the battery needs replacing and I can't seem to get one in Australia. So now I'm in between a rock and a hard place. Too scared to get another one, in case it's the same. I don't mind the battery losing power after a couple of years, but would expect to be able to get a replacement ........ Darn i t!!!!!

Waste of Money – The Phone Battery is dead only after 8 months, God help where can I get a new battery? It very difficult to find phone accessories and battery in any mobile phone shops. The phone is now useless without the battery. Will not recommend it to anyone. It's just a waste of money. Better to buy popular brands Samsung, iphones, Nokia etc that have their accessories available.

No Good – Lots of software problems with this phone. e.g. phone switches on randomly and consequently the battery would go flat, camera icon to switch from front to rear mysteriously disappeared. I also have the problem of not having enough space available for apps even though there was more than 80% of available space. Phone also gets hot even when not in use.

I couldn't live with this phone :( – I bought the next version up of this phone at the end of 2014 but ended up having to take it back. It was constantly telling me I had no space available for apps, despite a so called "32GB" of storage, was full of irremovable bloatware and I could not update the firmware. I tried contacting customer support but couldn't get through. Luckily the returns process was easy with the original receipt. Don't fall for it!

The phone was good for 15 months – After 15 months: The battery only last 10 hours, Not being used no Apps open. The phones freezes when you make a call,so you have to reboot the phone. The phones do not except incoming calls. I contacted the after sales service dept, Batteries not available and as the phones are out of warranty they cannot repair the phones. Great for the price – Seriously, I wanted a phone that I could make calls with and get a few emails on. Not much more. I understand that for 199 it's not top of the range, but for that price, it's a great buy and does everything I want. I am fairly tech savvy, and so have explored all areas of the menus etc. I am constantly amazed at the complexity of the unit -… Read more

for the price. If you want a wiz bang , state of the art phone with a zillion pixel camera, no lag, every bell and whistle under the sun, you will need to pay 4 times the price. Don't buy a dirt bike and then expect it to perform like a Goldwing. So what if they don't import replacement parts? Get a new one - or pay upwards of 800 in the first place. If you are realistic in your expectations, then you will have a very very good phone. I went from an iPhone to this and I am very happy with it still after 12 months or so and I am prepared to REPLACE it if and when it breaks. Complexity of menu operations Nothing for the price.

Best Value For Money – I have the quad core version of this device with the 8mp camera and I can say its rather fantastic. and impressive and large phone which is very prone to breaking if you don't look after it properly.

I think people need a reality check, it has better specs than the newest iPhone (minus the screen resolution) and is one quarter of the price. Very powerful/fast for the price, large screen excellent for streaming, decent camera and camera software, takes movies well, excellent for gaming, no lag ever. Not the sturdiest phone, some light leakage from the sides of the screen, screen is only 720p as opposed to 1080p, accessories difficult to find outside of aldi.

I like this Phone – Very cheap phone and I need cheap phones because I drop them more than I should. 3 in 12 months. Needed to replace screen on Gal S 5, screen cost more than Bauhn phone so I bought the 4.3 and was so happy with it I bought another, just in case. The only problem is the manual, there isn't one! The only downside I've found is the ram is only 512mb and has only got 4gb internal storage it can get annoying when you are browsing the internet then all of a sudden low memory. and the power button being at the top of the phone get annoying also. But I must say I believe that this is good value for money with it being dual sims and supports 3g is great

Cheap and Functional but Camera Quality let down – Bought the phone early during Aldi catalog promotion. Put it to work with great difficulty due to poor manual. Had to google search for help on firstly how to open the phone to put in the SIMs and many other functions eg. setting up email, wifi, downloading photos etc. Took many hours to get it to work. Once set up, the dual sim worked well. … Read more

Battery was reasonable, lasting over a day of mainly stand-by + moderate web-browsing and camera use. The email format (yahoo) was much different from the look on PC and hard to use but maybe it's the Android problem.

The deciding factor for me to return the phone was the quality of pictures taken from the phone camera. Somehow red color on the pictures was shown more as brownish pink or orange and not red red. This also impacted other color that has red tint eg. my redish cement ground was shown as dark orange/light brown, my red geranium became orange/light brown too. The color difference was very obvious when compared with the pictures taken on my iphone 3GS or my Nikon camera (although I must admit that the picture sharpness was much better from this Aldi phone than my iphone). Initially, I thought it might be the problem with the phone screen so I downloaded the photo to view on PC (again not easy to figure out how to download the photos). However, the downloaded photos still had the same color problem.

Although I want a dual sim phone and this phone served the purpose with low price tag, I do use my phone to take photos occasionally and the color problem is just not acceptable for me so I decided to return it. The return to Aldi was easy and no problem. Only the process of wiping off all information and photos from the phone was time consuming. Cheap, Dual sim works, all functionality works Red color on photos taken with the phone was not vibrant red but more like dark orange/light brown.

A big disappointment – I've had the phone for a few months now and it's been a complete disaster: - The battery doesn't last for a day, even if you have the phone sitting on your desk with all applications closed and bluetooth and GPS turned off. - When you're outside, you can't see a thing on the screen. - My 'home' and 'return' buttons are already starting to… Read more

become temperamental.

- I dropped the phone for the first time the other day, from 30 cm above the floor, and I've got about 20 cracks in the screen. I've made various phone calles to Aldi, Bauhn and some other company that distributes the phone to Aldi, but no replacement screens are available. it's only a matter of days before the loose bits start falling out and the phone can no longer be used.

- You can't buy any accessories for this phone.

- The photo quality is pathetic.

I've been a big fan of Aldi since they first appeared in Europe, but their phone sucks. Inexpensive Battery, absence of accessories and after-sale service, photo quality, screen

Not happy - taking it back to Aldi tomorrow – I waited many months for this in hope it would live up to the expectation of the Ad Aldi put in it's brochure however I have since found many other phones cheaper which run much better. itself off with no warning of the battery even being low.

When you run duel sim cards you cannot have two separate ring tones so you know who is who - if you can I cannot find it anywhere to do it.

Photo quality is very ordinary and will never replace a proper camera.

Most of all NO accessories anywhere - I don't want a phone protector you have to pull it out of it's cover everytime you want to use it - a good old fashion sock works just as well for that and it appears nothing will be coming out anytime soon.

For me it is too big for a pocket and not loud enough for any handbag.

I also find it awkward to have to press the top of the phone to use it - most phones its on the side or bottom which is more a normal hold when in the hand.

Sorry for being so negative but that is just my personal opinion with using it over the past couple of weeks. Colour Battery power, no covers, bad photo's, plus all of the above

Excellent value for money! – Bought this phone first week of June 2013. Using with ALDImobile, signal and speeds are great, getting download speeds between 3Mbps and 6.7Mbps so far. Hubby using a Samsung Galaxy W which cost $200 6 months ago. It is much slower and lags, often freezes, runs gingerbread. For the same cost, the ALDI phone is far better, better photos and resolution too. The outside casing is plastic and not the best quality, I'm just careful when removing the battery cover. The Samsung is the same though.

There were about 12 phones in the display cabinet when I purchased mine, but the next week, only one, so I think finding one is a bit of a lottery still.

Have to rate this phone highly, it does everything the higher end phones do (certainly more than my previous phone S34G) and for a much better price.

The ONLY real downside is that I have yet to find a case to fit. Will just keep an eye out online and hopefully someone somewhere will find the case that fits. Screen & resolution great, fast processing, runs JB really smoothly Can't find a cover to fit yet.

My wife's Bauhn mobile – Writing this on behalf of my wife. She has owned a Bauhn smart phone for around 1 week now. the manufacturer so we can try to find cases/guards to fit their phones, but have not yet been able to work this out.

We live in regional Victoria on the Princes Hwy so phone signal is not an issue. The phone makes and receives calls well. Texting is simple enough. It takes great photos from the primary camera, and I think the quality of the photos is very good.

The instruction manual is very poor. The writing is so small you will need a magnifying glass to read it. My wife also says the info in the manual is quite poor. The phone will sometimes beep (or make a tone) when it is in "idle" mode and we cannot work out what this is.

If I remember to do so, I will come back and update this write up as we learn more about the phone. Initial impression is that the phone is good for the money. camera is very good quality no accessories - case/cover or screen guard

Screen size and resolution. Masking of backlit icons could be better. LCD backlight could be more even (being critical here).
