Best place to find a new or second hand book – We love going to the Paddington or Hornsby store. We love finding new books and we often find ourselves coming home with a new file of books. They have such a great range and the staff are always friendly. Show details

Snobby staff, disorganised shelving, cold and aloof – Although the bookshop itself is great - the range is amazing and the products are almost second-to-none, the experience is totally off-putting. The staff are cold and look at you very suspiciously like you committed an offence just opening the door. There is never any thankyou for a purchase and my younger sibling have been told off a couple of times for stupid, unnecessary things. I still go because I love the product range, but if the staff were replaced, the place would boom! Going to a shop like that is meant to be a relaxing, pleasurable experience that is enjoyed, but the grumpy, starchy old men at the counter ruin the experience :(

If you like your children being yelled out for doing nothing wrong then this is the bookstore for yo – Although no trace of the incident can now be found as they have deleted all the posts off facebook, all I can say is - Say sorry Robert Berkelouw. You can pretend nothing happened and that deleting it from your pages does not mean it didn't happen. Children should be nurtured and if they do something a parent should be approached not the child. I would no recommend this book store to anyone, please don't go.

Lovely Books and Store staff could be friendlier – This is a great book store that is stress-free to browse about in and has a buyer with a keen eye for quality reading .However, just one thing really annoys me .... particular a lady there could use a little training on how to treat young customers who are spending their hard earned pocket money in the store. She seems to find them irritating at best .Once she made a mistake and actually accused my daughter of stealing one of their soft toy rabbits (she had in fact purchased it there on a previous visit and they didn't even still have the exact design in the store) she was almost in tears when I approached the counter to see what had gone wrong. . Mistakes happen and that's fine, but the employee did not apologise which is unforgivable. My upset child purchased another $40 worth of books and I couldn't help wondering if we will ever go back....

Overall a wonderful store but needs to be Mon-Fri a little more friendly to children. Good selection of books and nice to browse about in Not very friendly to children

Love it! – I love the Berkelouw stores. The people always seem to be happy to work there and if they dont have a book in stock they will get it in. I went through a stage of buying cheap books from Big W, which I still recommend, but you cant beat the Berkelouw experience. I'm a fan. The customer experience, range of books

not sure if this applies for all Berkelouw Book stores, but the second hand section at Leichardt is completely out of order. There's no sense of organisation and its almost impossible to find a book you're actually looking for.
