Excellent - and mine is the 7404VGP (no -M) – Ive had mine for over 5 years now and it is still going strong - in the fourth house that I have set it up in. Ive been with iinet, internode and now TPG and no problems with any of them and this modem. Ive had mine for over 5 years now and it is still going strong - in the fourth house that I have set it up in. Ive been with iinet, internode and now TPG and no problems with any of them and this modem. Stable and easy to set up The occasional drop out (once a month) but easily fixed with a reboot
Good features and value – This is a good little all-in-one, almost-fully-featured modem/router/ATA. It generally works quite well and provides access to plenty of advanced settings for people who are inclined that way. However, I have also found that sometimes I lose Internet connectivity and have to restart it to fix this. This could be related to my ISP, but the fact that I have to restart the modem to fix it indicates that the modem's partly at fault, too. Just telling the modem to disconnect and reconnect is not enough, and neither is its automatic reconnect functionality.
Also, we've sort of run out of IPv4 addresses, and IPv6 seems to be the chosen solution. However, this modem/router doesn't support IPv6 and probably won't. You can probably work around this by using bridged mode and bypassing the device's router functionality, but this would render most of the device's non-modem functionality useless. On the other hand, maybe it's possible that IPv4 users will still be able to continue using their devices without problems anyway.
I've read that people have been able to configure this device for use as an ethernet WAN router. This would enable its use with the National Broadband Network. Doing this seems to be an advanced topic, though.
I was also disappointed with the device's quality of service control for its inbuilt VoIP functionality. You can tell the device to prioritise VoIP over everything else, but it doesn't seem to help much; you will probably still have audio problems with your calls if anyone starts downloading something at full rate. If you have a connection offering more bandwidth than a 1500kbps service, you might be able to work around this by applying traffic rate limiting during VoIP calls. This is a reasonable working solution, however I think it would be a lot better if the quality of service control automatically managed all of this.
In summary, the device is well-featured and work reasonably well, but I would not recommend it due to the VoIP issues and lack of IPv6 support. I would recommend a more recent device. Good features, good value, all-in-one, may work with national broadband network (advanced) Sometimes needs restarting, no IPv6 support, QoS for VoIP didn't help
Excellent – After six months of trying to use VoIP with other devices it was a pleasure to simply connect the cables and have this device work. Also, if needed, the support line is excellent, staff very helpful, unlike some other companies. I have been using this device for over a year now and basically don't even think about it - which is the way it should be. I'm sure there is more that the device could be doing, but haven't read the book yet, as haven't needed to. If you are looking for an all-in-one device, I would highly recommend the 7404vgp-m. Exceptionally easy to set up and use None so far

Here are some more issues I didn't mention in the review: -It crashes and restarts about once every day or two for me. -It seems to freeze and require a restart after having a VoIP service registered for a day or two.
It's almost 5 years old, but it only became more problematic several months ago.
