Does the job – This modem router does the job. The interface is a big clunky. That is you have to dig around to find what you are after and the fields aren't as detailed as say a Netgear. There also aren't any detailed stats about traffic, etc. However it has provided stable internet and wireless connectivity for years now.  Show details

Nothing Extraordinary – Bought it after reading a lot of reviews however not at all impressed.. Dual band feature is nice but 5ghz has really short range. Cannot port third party custom OS. And official software upgrades has stopped for this product. My unit died after one year but billion sent another with no issues and am still using it on tpg ADSL 2+. Speed is not… Read more

great but according to tpg its my distance from exchange. Ah well!! I would recommend Asus nighthawk over this one

Good connections – I used to own a Billion a few years ago, so when it was time to get a new modem, I decided to try it again. The price is reasonable and the setup is relatively easy to do, as I have a technical background. It's reliable, stable and does what I need to do when I'm online. A solid investment.  Show details

The worst router/moderm I ever used!!! AVOID – I bought this from Msy for my very big business building I checked the review looks good especially I am concerned for the reception of the network after installation it was fine but three days later the reception becomes unstable I went back to the shop they persuade me to purchase extra two units to set up different area of the building but it… Read more

did not do nothing more I tested it with some other brand old modem I had for years the old one beats these expensive high tech lookalike in both coverage and speed on the same network w sigh with!!! Pity it's with only repair warranty I now left with them for no use!!!

It is doing the job. needs reboot every now and then – It has good interface and a lot of features you expect from a modem in this price range. Like many other modems it has a lot f settings that sometimes seem to be difficult to find the one you are after among all others. It is a reliable and quality router in general.  Show details

Fast, easy-to-configure router – This router is packed with features, great for someone with a bit of technical know-how, and a perfect price. Fast speeds and good reliability. We have been using this modem/router for a number of years now, and have always been pleased with it. Only minor gripe would be a slight difficulty in sometimes finding certain settings - the UI could be tweaked a little to be more user-friendly (but it isn't bad by any stretch).  Show details

Good product for a reasonable price – I purchased this router as my router died and was looking for a quality router that wouldn't break the bank. I decided on this one based on some reviews I found on Whirlpool and have not looked back since. Not only is it extremely stable, it has a ton of features that you wouldn't expect at this price point. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality router at a good price.  Show details

Decent Modem/router – I bought this to replace my older Billion 7404VGP which for some reason could never reach ADSL2+ download speeds. It was also in anticipation of the NBN (but that was at a time when everyone was going to be getting FTTP). Its not going to be at all useful for FTTN because it is not VDSL2. General remarks: Wifi is a bit flaky, so I have my… Read more

Apple Extreme Base Station doing that duty. Good and reliable speeds, both up and down. VoIP is excellent, I just have my Panasonic analog cordless phone connected and it works perfectly. Setup is a bit more complex than the older model I had, but nothing startling. You can do as much or as little as you want. Tweaking settings is easy.

Don't buy unless you have or will have Fibre to your home. If you're going to have Fibre to the node, this will not help you.

Great NBN router – I have had NBN for a while and needed to fix up my phone land line (VOIP line). It had been working via the PC (using a headset), but was a pain as we could not use our old wireless phone handset. I discovered that while the Netgear router/modem I had would not do VOIP, even though its NBN connection was fantastic. In fact speaking directly to… Read more

Netgear, they have no VOIP capable modem/routers at the time of writing.

Back to the Billion. It came with a setup disc, however I never even used it. Plugging it in auto launched a setup wizard (Windows10 pc) which was easy to configure. The 2.4g & 5g Wi-Fi can be set up independently and I gave them the same names and passwords as the old router so all of our devices (about 12) simply connected to the new router. Range seems to drop off rapidly at around 20m on 5g with 2.4g giving slightly longer distance connection. I may have to play with location, but that is what range extenders are for.

VOIP. there can be a few different settings and hopefully your ISP has a set for you. It was pretty straight forward and once the settings are in, I just plugged my Uniden DECT6.0 cordless phone into one of the two phone out ports on the back and was away. Call quality is good and even with the cordless base station sitting on top of the modem there seems to be no interference between the two.

As the 7800VDPX uses one of the Ethernet ports for the NBN connection, this only leaves 3 ports for output. They are all gigabit though. If you are connecting with ADSL, you come in on a different port so you can use all 4. This also supports PSTN (land line) failover so that if your power or VOIP goes out, it will auto switch back to copper. If you are going full fibre connectivity you cannot use this.

Overall a good choice for those who want to use VOIP and want to be ready for NBN if not already on it. If you are after just a WiFi router, there are others with better range, however if you need VOIP or are going NBN, this is a good option.

Trouble free all-in-one router – Easy to set up and configure. Every works well. Gets good sync and fast upload and download without drop outs. Streams well over wireless. No problems with interference. Voip seems to work OK but we dont use the land line much so I cant really rate voip performance yet. Outperforms my previous draytek across the board. I bought it in a… Read more

hurry because the draytek fried itself. If I had more time to research I probably wouldn't have got an all in one. Worked out of the box Price
