Battery life is only 1-2years before you need to buy a new one – have had 1 for approx 3-4 years, have replaced the battery/vac unit 2 times already and now needs a 3rd one. Battery lasts no longer then 2 mins after full charge and the entire unit was replaced 1 year ago. Stay well clear of Bissell products. Show details
Verge Fodder - #DONOTBUY – #DONOTBUY - Basically your buying rubbish, verg fodder. Ours lasted barely a month from new and it was useless. It's uselessness is surpassed only by bissell after sale service in Australia. Not even 30 days from new and It no longer would charge. ie: runs for a second then stops. Purpetualy flashing red lights indicating it's charoging but only… Read more
ever gets to 21v. (It needs 25v to operate.) Suggest it has faulty battery pack or charge controller. But trying to communicat with Bissell was akin to banging my head on a rock - only felt good when I stopped.
BATTERY DIES on Warranty – The battery has died and doesn’t charge. Lucky enough the first one died a month prior to 2year warranty. Replacement main unit (dust buster part) has done exactly the same but 2 months after the 2nd 2 year warranty and they, Bissell, aren’t responding after 3 emails Show details

Good for a While – I bought this vacuum about 3 years ago but I've only actually used it for 2.5 years. It was a pretty nifty vacuum for approximately 2 of those 2.5 years. I had vinyl planking in my previous house throughout the main living and traffic areas and carpet only in the bedrooms. The Bissell was perfect for the vinyl planking. Had 25 minutes of solid use… Read more
every time and it did the job well, and I used it every day as I have indoor dogs. It did a passable job of the carpet as well.
The primary issues for me were - the wheels started falling off after only 2 months, my husband fixed them on permanently so problem solved there. Then, after about 1.5 years, the side vacuum stopped working. Then the carpet roller stopped working. Now the battery is completely caput.
I'm not sure any stick vacuum is robust enough for everyday use but I have to use one as I have a fractured spine and osteoarthritis so I need something lightweight. The Bissell is not a bad vacuum for the right conditions - quick to use, it's lightweight, and it's excellent for hard flooring - but I do have expectations of more than 2 years solid use from a vacuum, especially given the money we pay for these appliances.
Great little al-rounder for general house cleaning – After plenty of research on several different brands, I chose this one - and overall happy with my choice. I have owned it for about 9 months, and is used almost daily. The battery still holds charge well, and lasts the average time to cover our 4 bedroom house. It balances well and feels comfortable from the hand and through the arm, and… Read more
glides over hard floors with ease.
The 'elbow' that allows the main part of the unit to bend down low, along with the swivel head, is great for getting under and around the dinning table and chairs - this is a great feature as I have a rather bad back for my age.
With the power brush, it picks up better than expected off carpet and large floor mats.
It's easy to separate to empty the unit, and I like the fact that the filter can be washed clean.
As with many cordless vacs, it has the break-away hand held function, which isn't really that useful. The big nose makes it not very effective to clean up a mess in a tight area, and no good for cleaning inside a vehicle.
The only real let-down I feel is that it lacks in suction, and mostly relies on the power brush to flick debris up into the head.-, but it does this well.
As I know with any rechargeable appliance or tool, you get what you pay for, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the most expensive is much better.
Very happy with our purchase – Positives: We bought this vacuum 6 months ago and it's still going strong. We are using it pretty regularly all over the house (hardwood, rugs and tiles) and only rarely get out our standard vacuum any more. Whilst we keep it on the charger stand, we don't leave the charger turned on until it actually runs out of battery, so we are getting pretty… Read more
good battery life so far (haven't noticed any reduction in battery life at all). I really like the foldable handle to be able to get under our coffee table and beds easily. One of the main reasons we purchased it was to clean up after the kids eg popcorn and crumbs, which it seems to handle easily as long as the vacuum isn't too full. Having the detachable handvac is useful for small pickups too.
Negatives: Cleaning the filter and vacuum can be a bit messy, especially if fluff gets stuck in the hand vacuum nozzle. Hair and other long threads can get caught around the roller too which is a bit tricky to clean off.
Overall: We are very happy with this machine, and given it had a 2 year warranty which we haven't had to use yet, we feel it was a good choice over the more expensive Dyson so far.

cant live without it – I love this machine , I use it daily , very easy to empty and clean plus does a wonderful job , would not hesitate to buy another , my mother in law has now purchased one and has my sister in law and several of their friends . Very tempted to buy another just in case they stop selling them Show details
so easy to use – it is great in all corners and under furniture, light and can be disconnected to be a hand held vaccumn for the furniture, love it as it has a long battery capacity, can do most of the house with one battery charge. It is less noisy than my old vaccumn .I vaccumn 3 bedrooms,a hallway, a lounge , sun room ,kitchen, dining room, laundry,2 toilets a bathroom and a small room where we store our fridge and freezer,so far so good Show details

Rubbish, works for 5 seconds then dies – The vacuum works for 5 seconds then dies. The battery was replaced first time this happened. Three months later it happened again. This product is a total lemon. Don't buy. Show details
Bad! Bad! product – Purchased a Bissell Bolt ION-XRT 25V. Used as a secondary vacuum for small spills. It worked well for about 3 mths. After a few months it only ran for 3 seconds at a time. Took it back to the Good Guys and had it repaired (08/2016). It worked OK for two or three times, but was back to running for about 3 seconds again (just long enough to get to… Read more
full speed). I think it is a safety overload cutout problem. I would not recommend these vacuums to my worst enemy. Bad product!
Hopeless – Thought I was buying best of breed according to Bissel marketing. Within 2 months handle broke at pivot joint. JB-HiFi opened a new box and gave me just the new handle. Apparently that's how Bissel's warranty works. Then latch to release brush broke. Just after warranty was up, battery failed. No replacement battery supplied by Bissel. They make… Read more
it such the the irreplaceable battery will only last just up to the warranty. Vacuum went into bin. Don't buy a Bissel.

Battery Useless and Customer Service Worse – My Bolt arrived , tried to charge battery as per instructions , red light on charger for 8 seconds followed by green for 4 seconds , this went on for 3 hours to no avail . 100% dead . Spent 3 hours trying to get customer service , finaly after no call back and multible calls got thru late afternoon . No help , refused to send replacement charger… Read more
and battery together and said they would call back in the morning re battery. Waited till 12.30 and tried to ring them , waited ONE HOUR ON HOLD WITH NO RESPONSE THEN GOT DISCONNECTED. Tried to call again for 10 minutes and gave up. I have sent an email and told them I will try to get an aftermarket battery and close my account with them . Needless to say my facebook page will get a post that is not as nice as this

Good for first 6mths then becomes expensive paperweight...2nd time with bissell – Had a bissell cordless pet vacuum for 6mths when had to be taken under warranty repair due to rotation point between brush head and vacuum breaking. Once getting it back repaired, continued to work until just past the 1 year point at which it failed to hold a useful charge. Was used under normal light daily cleanup. Got the Pet ion xrt as a… Read more
replacement thinking we would have better experience.
After about 8mths under same type of use, the vacuum makes a lot of noise. sounds like a bearing has failed within turbine that produces the suction. Will not be fooled twice with this crap.
For comparison, have a 6 yrs old dyson pet vacuum thay is used for whole house vacuuming, and it still works like day 1.
might as well burn your money if you get a bissell.
Will not hold charge! – I’m done with this product or any other Bissell products. Very upsetting to see that I am in the same Predicament in these reviews for all the same reasons! I feel like I was scammed and now I’m stuck with a unit barely over a year old that is worthless! Show details
Bissell Bolt Edge reach - not worth it :-(. Very disappointing – First one died after 18 months. Replacement dead after 18 months. This vacuum is only used lightly for quick cleanup of VERY small mess. I can’t state how disappointed I am in this vacuum and wouldn’t want anyone else to experience this. Show details
Dies after 12 months of use and its a common problem with this product – The product itself is good but the unit shuts off after 30 seconds of use - I believe its a battery issue. It worked well for about a year. I looked online and its a common problem. I would not buy this product. The customer service is terrible too - surprise surprise. Show details
Battery doesn't last long - and you can't replace – We only used our Bissel Bolt for tiles. We have now gone through two Bissel Bolts. The first one, the battery died just before warranty was up. They did replace it however said the replacement's warranty would only be honoured for the time left on the warranty from the first one. We only had 3 months left. After about 15 months, the… Read more
second bolt also suffered the same fate.
The machine would vacuum for about 20 secs and then turn off.
Not worth the money, especially with cheaper ones on the market.
Will never buy another Bissell product – This our 2nd Bolt in 4 years. Same problem as other users, it only works for about 20 seconds and then stops. The charging indicator shows "FULL" but obviously the battery is faulty. Why are there so many persons with problems with this item. The Bissell steam Mop is great. Have also tried to but a replacement battery pack - impossible. Goodbye Bissell KD Show details
Second replacement in 2 years – We purchased this vacuum as we already have a steam mop from Bissell (which works great), but less than 12 months in it would only work for approx 20 secs then turn off. Bissell replaced it with a brand new model (Bolt lithium max 25v model no.1971F) and approx 12 months have passed and this is doing the same thing again. Bissell is replacing it… Read more
again but there has to be an inherent problem with these vacuums.
When they are working they are great but I shouldn't have to replace every year at the price.
Loved it till the wheels kept falling off – Loved the performance of this vacuum cleanser. So easy to use to zip around. However, the wheels started falling off after about 18 months. Such a nuisance. Another problem is it is difficult to open the bottom where the brush is to remove long hair twirled around the brush. Is now cutting out after a few minutes. Barely get the kitchen and… Read more
dining room floor done before the charge runs out. Used to be able to do the whole house on one charge.
Total rubbish – Keeps cutting out after a few seconds. Suction is very weak. We have rarely used this product and find it has been a complete waste of money. not sure what the problem is, but it appears to be the battery. This product should have been recalled judging by the number of poor reviews. No more Bissell for me. Show details

Don't waste your Money! – Two weeks after purchasing the Bissell Bolt, cordless vacuum, it stopped working. It would run a few seconds and shut down. Called Bissell, they sent me another. (Thank you Bissell ). Unfortunately, the second one had the same problem. It lasted 3 weeks. Runs for a few seconds and shuts down. Called again, sorry it's out of warranty. I'll be shopping for a new cordless vacuum. I will not be looking at ANY Bissell products! Show details
Awful product. Nothing more than a DISAPPOINTMENT – Having just ditched my expensive out of warranty dodgy Dyson stick vac, I totally expected this to be less efficient and therefore had low expectations. What I wasn't expecting was so many problems just outside of the manufacturer warranty ended. - The turbine head stopped spinning, next - The right wheel began to fall off, next - The head… Read more
actually stopped swivelling, next
- The left wheel started to fall off
Unlike others, my handle has NOT broken and my battery is perfectly FINE, still holding enough charge and can vacuum 3 rooms and a hallway after 1.5 years of use. Admittedly, it doesn't get used much lately as it's useless as a stick vac. It's now just shy of 2 years old and I've reverted back to using a microfibre broom indoors.
Thankfully I've learnt my lesson over the years and paid $58 for an extended warranty. This will be replaced or I'll have credit to buy a different one in store.
Not sure I'll ever put my faith in a Bissell product ever again.
Unreliable and Not Very Effective – I purchased the machine because it had a special roller brush for pet hair and it was effective in lifting pet hair from hard floors and, to a much lesser extent, from carpet. It had poor suction but was sufficient for a quick clean of pet hair. It was used most days for a quick clean of a small living area. I had to use a different vacuum for… Read more
a thorough clean, especially some rugs. The hand vac was not nearly powerful enough to clean the car.
Machine was purchased August 2015. Foot broke down and was replaced under warranty in July 2016. Same problem occurred again in March 2017 and foot was replaced again, a refund being refused.
In August 2018 foot failed again for a different fault. The foot was still in warranty. After some considerable argument a refund was given. BUT, Bissell's first offer was to replace the foot with no further warranty.
Get real Bissell.
A vacuum can only make noise – Bought this one awhile ago, worked ok at the first but gradually the suction getting worse. Finally now it doesn’t clean the floor as a vacuum machine besides making loud noise. The roller in the head of vacuum didn’t work when I try to change to a new one as well. Guess I I’ll avoid this brand in the further. Show details
Battery died in 3 months – Has this product for 3 months. Battery is charged but it work work. Flashing light and turns off within 5 seconds. I didn't expect much but I did expect more then 3 months use out of this. Never buying this brand again. I do however like the light weight and it's perfect for a small apartment. Show details
battery issues like everyone else – I'm having the same battery issues as everyone else. Bissell replaced the unit with a 1312F which died about 6 months quicker than the first one. Bissell said that would be the last exchange unit they sent out. I'll be looking for a Dyson, although I'll be checking the battery reviews first... Show details
Good Idea Weak Battery – We got this to do the kitchen and floorboards for crumbs instead of bringing out the big vac. It's light and maneuverable and works well but just not for long enough! The battery just doesn't go for more than 5 minutes even off a full charge. I can see that I am not the only one so I guess this is a design problem. Its a pity because its a good idea. Taking points off due to battery Show details
Poor Battery Life – The first battery failed after 9 months; wouldn’t hold a charge. The replacement has failed after 15 months. I'm not even going to spend the energy to try to get it replaced again. Very disappointed. It’s an otherwise good product; it got the light vacuuming job done. Light and easy to use. Show details
battery wont charge – This looked to be a good product but after 12 months the battery just stopped working. It just keeps flashing, no charge at all. This is a very poor product. I should have read these reviews. A large addition to the landfill sights for 20 or 25 vacuums. This is outrageous. Show details
Will not charge, 2nd one as well as 1st – First went within the 12 month period, wouldn't hold charge. Had a replacement sent and the same thing happened. Biggest waste of money ever. Warranty was not covered for the 2nd as it continued from date of purchase of the 1st. Never buy from them again. Shocking customer service. Bulk manufactured crap. Show details
Ok but not worth it – This vacuum has great suction light weight BUT the wheels continually fall off. At first it was fine but after 1 month neither wheels stay on its quite frustrating. The filter blocks easily so whilst it has a large canister you have to empty regularly because of the filter. Wouldn't buy again. Show details
Battery is rubbish – If you cannot charge battery then is will not suction .....So this vacuum really sucks! A couple of weeks after purchasing battery was not charging at all. I should have read these reviews prior to buying this piece of crap. I will definitely not buy another Bissell product ever again. Show details
POOR PRODUCT!!! – I bought a Bissell Bolt and 18 months after, it no longer was able to charge. Thankfully I was able to have a replacement under warranty. The replacement model was the Bolt Max Professional but after 6 months of occasional use, the battery holds power for about 20 seconds then its dead. This is very poor product performance and its obvious from… Read more
