Pretty good but poor suction for vacuuming – Update 19-Nov-2017 I've come to the opinion that the suction is not satisfactory for doing normal vacuuming of large areas of carpet. It's fine when using the smaller tools, but not for the larger tools. For this reason, I've regretfully purchased a separate machine for vacuuming. I will probably be keeping the Bissell, because a) I like having… Read more

a wet/dry vac, and it does make a worthwile improvement when using it to clean carpet. Due to the perceived poor suction, I have reduced my rating from 4 stars down to 3. I have kept my original review intact below:

This is the first time I've used a carpet cleaner, so I have nothing with which to compare it to. That said, I am satisfied with the carpet cleaning performance so far. I also love the versatility of the machine overall, especially for the price I got it. (it's discontinued now, being replaced by the Hydroclean model) I don't mind having to empty the collection tank when vacuuming - the fact that all the muck is in water actually kind of makes it easier and less messy than emptying a dry container, because there is no dust. To avoid clogging my drain, I use a strainer to catch most of the solids, and then dump the muck into a bin. The suction power when vacuuming is good - it's not *as* good as my old Electrolux cylinder vacuum when it's bag is empty, however that suction doesn't last long as the bag fills.

Tip for any other idiots like me: when vacuuming, make sure you use the correct fill line! I was initially filling to the maximum fill line level that pertains to carpet cleaning, which really reduces the suction. Look for the much lower "fill to here" line, which is on the rear of the collection tank.

Pros:

- The current price (I paid $380) is excellent IMHO

- Versatile

- Whilst a bit heavy, the fact that it has a handle on the top makes it quite easy to grab and move

- Bagless water filtered vacuuming - I really like this!

Cons:

- Non-extending, two piece fixed tube design

- A bit heavy

- The air brush tool feels like it's sort of skimming over the surface of the carpet - it doesn't feel like it's really "grabbing" the carpet with suction. I feel like I *may* need to use the other combo carpet/floor tool as well, rather than just rely on the air brush tool, OR, just use the combo tool and forget about the air brush. Too early to tell yet.

- For floor vacuuming, I'm not sure the design of the combo carpet/floor vacuuming tool is optimum. I prefer my Electrolux design, which uses wheels rather than brushes. The brushes of the Bissell collect a lot of dust/fibres, which would otherwise have been simply vacuumed up. When vacuuming carpet the brushes are retracted so no problem there.

- With the tube extension connected, if just feels slightly flimsy - there is a bit of disconcerting flex. I notice this when carpet cleaning because I like to exert quite a lot of force when scrubbing the carpet.

- Slightly difficult to push in the little lock tab to disconnect the tubes & tools.

- Would be nice if there was an option to have two separate wet cleaning solution containers, so we could quickly switch between, say, carpet detergent and pure water (for rinsing).

- No partial fill lines on either the fluid tank or the measuring lid

Great Single Machine For Carpet Cleaning & Secondary Vacuum – I manage over a 100 apartments all over the CBD and really like this machine for the smaller apartments. It requires more physical work, but is ideal for tight areas such as tiny apartments. Also reasonably portable to carry around. Water filtration means there are no bags to buy. Vacuum has strong suction and motor is made to run for hours at a… Read more

time. Crucial to have the correct settings on the inlet where the hose attaches to the unit. I think this may be why there are mixed comments on the suction power. When properly set up it has great suction. I use it several times per week & am used to it. I can appreciate that some users find it complicated to use. Cleaning after use, including all filters, would be a 5-10 minute job once you get used to it. Very reliable and excellent value for money with careful use. It is not heavy duty construction, and this has to be taken into consideration when using it. Plastic cracks & breaks. The idea is to not use enough force to do that to plastic. Bissell have been great when I need parts. Part numbers are in the manual, and I just order parts over the phone and they courier them to me. I have 5 carpet cleaning machines of varying size, but this is the favorite for under 20m2 jobs. Very maneuverable in small and awkward areas. Plastic construction requires careful use.

Brilliant for the clean-obsessed home-maker! – I'm really impressed with the Bissell Healthy Home ProHeat All Rounder. Like Reviewer efutoo I found the machine to be user friendly and easy to use. The suction is excellent and has every tool that you could possibly need to clean the house. I was a bit concerned about the dry hoover but it had excellent suction and afterwards, the canister… Read more

was easy to clean so you don't have all the dust build up in the filters that you normally get in a vacuum cleaner.

It is a very sturdy machine and well-built but some might find it a bit heavy and cumbersome. We have had other vacuum cleaners that always tipped over, so this 'heaviness' was actually a good feature for us - in fact, it isn't that heavy and the power cord (5m) and the hose/attachment (5m) means that the unit doesn't need to be moved much at all.

The wet floor cleaner - BRILLIANT! - dries after itself, managed to get some wax that I accidently spilt on the tile floor off, and the smell of the solution is lovely!

Finally - my husband had a go of the Bissell and was amazed at how easy and "comfortable" it was to use as he didn't have to hunch over (he is 6' 4) to do the hoovering as the wand was long enough. This is also a good feature for me as I am short and need to reach the ceiling corners to clean cobwebs.

So far, we have found the Bissell to be a good quality build and a fantastic buy... we haven't done any carpet or upholstery cleaning yet, but if the tile and carpet floor results are to go by, I'm sure it will be great. Excellent cleaner - robust, clean, wet & dry cleaning. Nothing wrong, but some might find it a bit heavy (20kg) when both water tanks are filled.

Love it – Great for ensuring a good clean. A bit loud so i wear ear plugs. Cons : The plastic bits seem fragile and do break which is a pity considering the price you pay for it. A machine performs as advertised – I am satisfied will the unit. It does everything expected well for the past 5+ year, with no problems to date. That being said it only get used for 3 or 4 days a year, but for 2 or 3 hour per day. It has even been loaned on occasion with satisfied feedback. The model I have is the older model. Looking at the part lists in the current model and… Read more

the model I have, there seems to be many common part numbers, so I suspect the machine has not changed much between models.

The good:

Good domestic hot water type extractive cleaner, for carpets and upholstery.

Powerful suction on dry vacuuming, and wet filtering make dust disposal dust free. The rotary carpet brush works well.

Lots of fitting are provided standard.

Lasted 5+ years no problems to date.

The not so good:

Relatively heavy.

A little Fiddly to use, but worth the effort. (Reading the manual first is worthwhile)

Somewhat bulky to store.

Important to correctly clean and store between use.

A bit noisy when using, but acceptable.

The Bissel cleaning detergent is far too expensive, about $20/litre, in a non metric size. I usually use more about a litre to clean the house carpets and nearly an another litre for the various rugs each year. After a though dry vac with the rotary brush, I prefer to use a bit more detergent on the stained areas first, then a general detergent clean, followed by a rinse clean. Fortunately Bunnings sells a suitable bulk detergent replacement, "steamy" for less than $30 for 5 litre, which I have been using successfully the past 3 years or so.

I do not regret purchasing this machine and would consider a replacement of the current model upon non-economic failure.

cleaned everything, took it apart. The Heater core gets clogged, with the calcium deposit inside the heater core had eats through the core... Which can cause the water leaks from the bottom.

both machine rendered useless.

Bissell must have know this for years and have done nothing to fix the problem except produce more useless machines year after year.

Does what it says it will do, but has some problems – I use it as a spot cleaner to clean up after my old dog. While it does this quite well there are some problems with the design that make it annoying to use. hose and the mode selector.

Attachments can be difficult to remove if the attachment socket and hose wand plugs are not really clean. The attachment connecting clips are hard to operate because they are so small.

Main hose can clog easily due to the water dispensing tube being inside.

Main hose does not drain well and needs to be stored flat to stop water leaking out.

Needs cleaning after about 2 uses. some attachments are difficult to clean if they get blocked with pet hair.

Very heavy (wife cannot lift it) and difficult to move.

Does everything expected of it – After considerable research on numerous models, we selected the 41C7F. We have carpet throughout our entire home apart from the kitchen. removed the remnants of the spill with just a few passes. The unit is easy to operate provided one reads the instructions. Yes, it is quite heavy when filled with formula. Being on casters it moves quite readily so this was not a problem. Our carpet is now without any marks or soiled areas. Cannot speak highly enough about our Bissell. Owners complaining about shortfalls should possibly read the operating instructions before use.

Great product, terrible aftersales service – This machine does a great job, and has been everything I expected. However, just before the warranty expired, the pump stopped working. I picked it up, having to pay $60… Read more

for the inspection, and we continued to use it with a 5 l sprayer filled with water and the shampoo.

As luck would have it, I found the receipt 4 days before the warranty expired, and receipt in hand, very excitedly called Bissell aftersales.

The person who took the call was incredibly rude, and declined warranty. Her words were: "oh, I see you have 4 days left under warranty". She asked if I use hot water in the tank, and I replied in the affirmative, she said, "Oh that voids the warranty, they wont repair that under warranty, hot water damages the pump". I was also referred to Page 7 of the book. She went on a long diatribe about the book and page 7, and enquired if I had the book. I would not confirm if I had the book, so she noted that I refused to answer. Please note that Page 7 confirms that hot tap water is to be added to the tank!!

She would not give me her name or ID, or put me through to a supervisor, and than hung up on me.

In fraustration, I called the retailer who agreed to take the item back, and swap for a new one, while taking the matter up with Bissel. I was very happy with the retailers service, and will buy another brand off them. I intend to sell the new Bissel and purchase another brand.

In conclusion, Bissel is great product, but don't expect any assistance when something goes wrong. They do not have centres where the product goes for warranty, it must go back to them, and you must deal with rude call centre staff who are obviously trained to decline warranty in the first instance. This is very poor business.

PS: just household use, not commercial use. Also, cost around $500 + products, so not a cheap machine.

Not a straight forward machine – I bought this machine as most of our home is tiled and we wanted a cleaner which would wash the floors. We have a steam mop but find that the pad gets dirty really quickly and then you end up smearing dirt across the floor. The Bissell ProHeat seemed like the perfect solution but unfortunately it is just not a 'plug in and go' machine and needs a lot of preparation and then clean up for effective use. Cumbersome and time consuming to set up

so hard on it that I got tennis elbow. The Bissell is so easy and efficient. I would never buy the same machine twice if it wasn't great. Having 12 dogs, I spot clean nearly every day, and my machine gets flogged. Only the Bissell seems to be up for the job. Does a good job but if you are looking for professional carpet cleaner type results, you were right the first time, go back to the professionals. This is a simple and effective domestic model, its great, but not as good as the $5,000 machines. If you expect those results your expectations are not realistic. Light pressure is all that is needed to efficiently suck up all of the water. No sore elbows! The only flaw is a tiny one. Where the plastic container that holds the water sits, if you don't wipe off the excess water before putting it back, it dampens the area and the screws in the base of the machine start to rust. Mine ended up rusting so bad that the screws moulded into the plastic, and couldn't be removed, not that I ever needed to, but if you did, it would be a problem.

dust is collected in water, providing a dust free solution when emptying. All items that I have washed have produced surprising results, unlike other non-commercial machines it leaves carpets with no sticky residue. My husband 'mopped' the floors (for the first time ever, he thought it would be fun) with the hard floor tool, it is brilliant as it dries as you go. I have only a few negative issues, it is cumbersome therefore difficult to store, and the wand appears to not be strong enough when washing carpets, it is fine when vacuuming though. Other than these small issues it is a great machine for large and small jobs alike. Thoroughly cleans carpets and upholstery. Lots of tools for various applications. Wand needs to be stronger. This shampooer has the WOW factor! – I bought this Bissell after much research into similar products and I am blown away. professionally cleaned once, and I have to say that the Bissell Healthy Home ProHeat All Rounder does as good a job and maybe even better! The carpets look refreshed, clean, and almost new looking again. The carpet finishes even drier than the hire shampooer, or the professional shampooers, and were able to be walked on in 40 minutes.....of course the weather would be a factor in this. Then, if that was not good enough, it comes with an upholstery attachment so you can clean your couch as well (another must in this house). But wait.....there's more......It cleans and drys your hard floors too!!! It comes with a hard floor cleaner attachment. We have white shiny tiles that everyone constantly slipped on when wet, so cleaning the tiles was limited to evenings after the kids were in bed, but now I can do it any time. It does actually clean AND dry the tiles at the same time. Amazing! There are too many attachments to mention. This vacuum shampooer does it all. It even heats the water to 14 degrees hotter than the water you put in so it is good antibacterial action too. It is a water filter so not dust to worry about when emptying. Our water was blackest black when I went to empty it. And it is very easy to empty, rinse and store. Just ensure you empty and rinse after every use or it may smell. It is a heavy machine but it pulls along easy and has a long hose. I have a list of friends and relatives all eager to borrow my new toy. :) I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially anyone with shiny slippery floor tiles and kids. Better than a hire shampooer or a professional. Great suction. Cleans well. Cleans and dries the tiles at the same time.

Machine is good but quality is bad - do not buy! – Clears quite well, especially like wet cleaning. Unfortunately the design of this machine does not allow vacuum and wash at the same time as the wet nozzle gap is very narrow and bigger pieces get stuck. So have to vacuum first and then wash. time I`m impressed with vacuum cleaner.

I had at least 4 vacuum cleaners within last 7 years...and I love this one !

My overall rating is 10 out of 5.

:) I`m very happy! ...but like I wrote...its perfect for specific things/people.

If you need vacuum only for once a week/months without heavy duty cleaning ...then better buy ordinary small vacuum.

Boyfriends/lovers-Its not good gift for young lady with no kids/animals/hubby.

(Better buy trip for 2 for romantic holiday!)

Thanks!

XOXO

Emme I just got letter from friend who had big problem with flooded bathroom ans deeply soaked carpet. That little letter made me think to write review here as well…I love this All Rounder! It’s perfect for every type of floor or upholsters , car internal wash and tiles in the shower room.I’m very impressed with it! Most of it I like that its mop with vacuum. Normally you have to vacuum before moping and vacuum after moping as some dust and dirt still comes out of the corners. It gives super satisfaction to see nice clean floor and all dirty water goes back inside vacuum container.+ If you child loves to make local swimming pool out of your bathroom( every parent knows) its perfect thing to clean all the mess without any problems. NO fuss, 2 min job with vacuum…no needed 150 towels and wet rags all around. If you have small home office, home kindergarten, small cafeteria or few furry friends this vacuum is absolute helper.Or if you are cleaning maniac and/or medical person. If you have house full of kids and/or animals..+Its super good if you/you have family member with multiple allergies ( especially dust and mites) to do daily wet mopping over carpet and collect dust Previous review writers wrote few problems.: NO power head> ??? -My vacuum came with power head and all other pieces…More than I need. All what is shown on this web site!http://www.bissell.com.au/Products/c/CanisterDeepCleaners/p/allrounder/product.aspxLicking dirty water- water connection tube (hose solution line number 8 on that website ) comes sometimes slightly disconnected when you empty dirty water container-check it every time.Boyfriends/lovers-Its not good gift for young lady with no kids/animals/hubby.Better buy ticket for romantic holiday! Its not good gift for young lady with no kids/animals/hubby.This vacuum cleaner is for hard working well organized day after day busy mom!+It you have toddler then its big fun for them to sit on the top of vacuum and it has even super handy handle where to hold and play *horsey*It doesnt have silly hard to find paper filters.(only filter what it has is on the back for out blowing air-not really needed) Its big! BUt you couldnt make it smaller...or have to run every 30 min to fill it with more water.Makes big noise-small prize to pay for nice and clean house! On site is writen that you can leave dirty water in till you are ready for next time...I wouldnt do it! As dirty water (full of bacteria) is giving bad smell. And wash it outside in the garden or it will clog your plumbing...belive me! Dirt what comes out is unbelievable!I found sometimes hard to change heads .

Good – I just love it!! I am always cleaning my lounge and carpet (dont have a lot of carpet) It's also fantastic for your car seats etc... rugs I clean everything with it.. I dont use the steam mop side of it rather a mop and bucket.. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a clean house - leaves house smelling clean and fresh.. I guess if you are… Read more

buying it mainly to dry vac it isn't the easiet thing to wip over the carpets but I will never again pay for someone to clean carpets, lounges etc. etc. so they way I see it it pays for itself.. Friends and family that have seen my vac and used it have gone and bought one.... Absolutely love this machine!! I love cleaning my carpet and lounge, does a great job. Fantastic for those allergic to dust mites... It is a bit of a hassle to dry vac but you get used to it...

Excellent – Users who are disappointed with this unit probably don't know how to use it. First you do the dry cleaning, then the wet cleaning, or just the wet cleaning! Complaints about it leaking out the back is probably because the knob for setting the unit to dry / wet clean wasn't put on the correct setting. Anyone who complains that having to throw out… Read more

the dirty water after every clean, has to realise... this unit uses water to filter what it cleans up. And that dirty water is going to stink.

If you want an ultra good all in one clean - this is it. Cleaning with this unit is easy, and people who appreciate how good of a job it is does, over having to clean the unit after use will love it. We have 2 indoor dogs who shed hair, and drag in halve the garden, and this vacuum cleaner takes everything off the floor. The suction is great. Perfect for vacuuming carpets, mopping and vacuuming floors at the same time, and carpet cleaning. Big Pro for me was the size of the water tanks, one for cleaning solution, and for being a water filter. The heater is awesome, heats up the cleaning solution tank so everything dries faster and helps clean. My partners has a bad back, and has no problems cleaning the floors with it. Great All round vacuum cleaner. I chose this over the Vax units. Because its so big, it is heavy when full of water... carrying it up and down stairs will be a problem, this is not your typical light vacuum. You buy this unit because it uses water to clean - comes with the territory. Because it is big, storage could be a problem. Aluminum parts on outside of the plastic hose stick / wand wouldve been nice to keep it more sturdy.
