Both my girls, 6 and 8yo, dont like these due to the biscuit itself being so hard to bite through. We usually steer towards Purina One Senior Biscuits or the Optimum Fur Ball Biscuits, both are thinner and less effort to break through. Personal opinion, the bsicuits dont seem to have any negative impact on the girls.
Causes recurrent bladder infections – I changed my cat onto Black Hawk thinking it would be better for him, he’s been to the vet 3 times in the last month with a blocked bladder. Was advised by my vet that as the change in diet is the only change, it is likely the cause. This already expensive food has ended up costing me over $2000 in vet bills, plus another $200+ in new food. Show details

Our fussy boys devour these – Struggling to find food that Roger and Steven will both actually eat. It’s a nice surprise that they both devour Blackhawk. Their coats have brilliant shine and their overall condition has improved since changing to Blackhawk. Show details · 1
Cat loves it - extremely good value – An 8kg bag last my one cat 4 months. She only needs half a cup per day. She prefers this to wet food so I don't need to buy wet food anymore. She likes both the chicken/rice and the fish. Her fur is soft and she is a healthy weight. I notice her stools are firm and don't stink much at all. Worked out it costs me about the same as one large takeaway coffee per week to feed her - about 5 dollars. Show details · 1
No more red skin – After trying different dry foods for our cat. We were struggling with red itchy skin. Changed her to grain free that was not chicken based and we are free from redness :) She loves it - not sure why i didnt think of it earlier. Show details · 1
Tasty & nutritious – This went down a treat with my 6 cats! They can be fussy but on opening the pack the genuine aroma had them running for the bowl. Not one of my six refused it! Show details · 1
Best food for my Ragdolls – After getting a sample pack 9 years ago for my 1st Ragdoll Oliver and seeing his coat eyes skin teeth and whats in the kitty litter that doesn't smell and always firm with good colour and consistency. I have 3 Ragdolls now. One a rescue that benefited greatly on the Blackhawk Chicken and rice. They only ever had dry food and they love it. Everyone… Read more · 1

Best dry food on the market – Prior to having the Black Hawk Chicken & Kangaroo the cats were having the Black Hawk Duck and Fish. Both these dry foods have been amazing, if I didn't know better I would say the Chicken & Kangaroo is actually slightly better. The coats on the cats have been amazing, one of our cats in particular was really bad for losing hair, his coat looked a… Read more · 1
mess (short hair cat mind you). Now his coat has thickened up, you can now pat him without his hair flying off everywhere. I have used a number of different dry food brands over the years, Applaws, Vetalogica, Royal canin was one I used for many years. The only brand that I have seen to make a clear difference in our cats overall coat, joints and gut health, etc is Black Hawk. They're not a fan of the wet food though. If it wasn't for the wet food it would have been a clear 5 stars!
My cat loves it! She’s a snob! – My cat came from a shelter and off Whiskas so we were expecting issues when changing over food. No issues though and she’s super fussy. Loves it and when she was in the vet for a few days she wouldn’t eat anything even the roast chicken they offered her so I brought in her Blackhawk and she demolished it. Then for her birthday one year we wanted to treat her to some wet food, she ate her kibble around it. Great product!! Show details · 1
My cat loves it! – My cat's fur has become really silky and smooth after eating Black Hawk chicken and rice cat food. Our vet even commented on her fur quality when we brought her in for vaccinations. Show details

Horrible food – This food caused bladder crystals to form in my cat, ultimately blocking his urethra and requiring an emergency vet visit. He was since put on a better diet and has not reoccurred. Please enlighten me black hawk why there is citric acid etc in your food for cats - Which raises the ph of the urine in the bladder which can form crystals? It was a… Read more

Now made in Thailand – Black Hawk has changed its cat food offerings. I feed my cats Black Hawk because it WAS made in Australia, it's grain free and the cats like it. I was nervous about the very expansive and new range on offer and as it turns out, rightly so. Despite the Australian theme on the website, the new wet food (I have the Chicken and Whitefish one) is MADE… Read more
IN THAILAND. In other words, offshore, in a country that does not share Australia's regulatory framework for ingredients and manufacturing and at a loss to Australian jobs.
The Website does not seem to acknowledge this.
I'm off to find food that is made in Australia, or, as second best, New Zealand. My new Black Hawk is going in the bin.

Good Gravy, Catman! – My two cats have eaten Black Hawk dry for the whole of their nine years, with various wet tins or pouches frequently added. I grabbed the 12 free pouches that came with a bag of grainfree, and was quite surprised to see each of them lick all of the jelly off their serving and then walk away. Upon inspection I see that the pieces in the jelly are… Read more
more like bits of processed loaf than of salmon or chicken meat. Nothing wrong with that, I'm sure it's quality stuff — but my two cats have acted similarly with foods of this type, and the result is always the same. Maybe it's just them. They both now will only eat the new grainfree dry food, so that is 10/10.
Long time Black Hawk fans in your household! Thank you for your valued feedback :)

Good for pets and owners – Great food. We love this brand as they are Aussie owned and made in Australia with local ingredients. The bags come in smaller sizes and larger ones, so we can choose how much to get at once. They are also resealable, so you don't have to decant once opened. I also like feeding our cats lower emission protein sources, which this does a pretty good… Read more · 1
job of. Although the biscuits are round, we find that our cat's teeth still stay healthy on this brand. We also found that their breath smells better on this brand than some others. It is a complete meal, perfect for indoor cats. We have a cat who we think may be allergic to grains, and we have had no stomach or vomit issues with this brand. We have another cat prone to weight gain due to health issues, and she has stayed very healthy on this brand and it her weight range target. Overall, extremely impressed with this brand's ownership and local ingredient use, and relieved to have found a brand that suits our cat's health requirements.
A Delightful and Nutritious Choice for Your Feline Friend – I recently discovered the Grain Free Chicken & Turkey dry cat food, and I must say, it has become a staple in my feline friend's diet. This exceptional cat food is made with real Australian chicken and turkey, providing a mouthwatering taste that my cat simply adores. One of the things that impressed me about this cat food is its commitment to… Read more · 1
quality ingredients. The real Australian chicken and turkey are not only delicious but also packed with essential amino acids that contribute to strong muscles and healthy bones. Additionally, these proteins are rich in vitamins B3 and B6, which support a cat's metabolism.
What sets Grain Free Chicken & Turkey apart from other dry cat foods is its unique blend of ingredients that promote digestive health. Instead of using grains, tapioca and potato are used, making it an excellent choice for cats with sensitive stomachs or prone to digestive issues. The inclusion of beet pulp and coconut oil further aids in digestion, ensuring that my cat's tummy stays happy and comfortable. Moreover, the yucca in this cat food helps reduce fecal odor, creating a more pleasant environment for both my cat and me. I was also delighted to learn that the iodine from sea kelp supports a healthy thyroid in my cat.
Palatability is key when it comes to cat food, and Grain Free Chicken & Turkey exceeds expectations in this department. Its rich and enticing flavor makes every meal a treat for my furry companion. Seeing her eagerly devour each serving brings me joy and reassures me that I have made the right choice.
I typically purchase the 2.5kg bag, as it is the perfect size for my cat's needs. It lasts a good amount of time, and I appreciate the convenience it offers. It's worth mentioning that my cat has shown a clear preference for this chicken flavor over other brands such as kiwi and science diet, although I'm not entirely sure why. Regardless, this Grain Free Chicken & Turkey cat food has contributed to her overall health and well-being. Her coat has become noticeably more beautiful and shiny, and she exudes a vibrant energy that is truly remarkable.
In conclusion, if you're searching for a dry cat food that combines wholesome ingredients, digestive support, and irresistible taste, look no further than Grain Free Chicken & Turkey. With its real Australian chicken and turkey, absence of grains, and additional benefits for digestion and vitality, it is an outstanding choice for any cat. Give your feline companion the gift of optimal nutrition and watch them thrive with each delightful meal.
Cat is addicted – Our 12-year-old cat was eating a different brand of premium grain-free dry food. It became hard to get, so I thought I’d try this one from Black Hawk, as well as one from another brand. We served both of the new dry foods, in separate bowls. The cat immediately scoffed the Black Hawk, ignored the other one, and hasn’t looked back. She’s enjoying this much more than the previous one she’d been eating. Show details · 1
When Your Cats Are Everything – My cats enjoy the small parcels of goodness in each kibble bite. They do not hesitate, and they smash it until full. It is important my cats have a good diet, and I really appreciate the goodness in BlackHawk, and the dedication to meeting my cats' needs. They are super happy, healthy and have lovely coats. Our cat loves it! – First time to feed Black Hawk cat dry food (fish) to our cat. Our cat is little bit fussy, it looks she loves it! Nibbles look little bit small for me, but she constantly eat it and no health problem after eating. Would love to try other flavour in future. Show details · 1
Food my cats always love – I have used 4 varieties of Black Hawk dried cat food, over the last 3 years. All have been eagerly accepted by my 3 cats. I love two aspects of Black Hawk products...they are healthy for my cats and they are Australian made with local products, both of which I value. So often the cats love something one day and will not eat it the next. This has not happened with Black Hawk products, wet or dry. Show details · 1
