Thank God - No Touch screen – Blackberries are about quality. This has a magnificent screen which is like watching a tv.. It came with a genuine headset which have various rubber adaptors to suit different ears - sensible. I hate touch screens so the qwerty keypad was a huge bonus. I find it easy to text despite hearing complaints from others cant find out how to use many… Read more

features. . my advice if you use phone a lot buy a phone dock and a spare battery.. occasionally it has a hissy fit where it appears to be updating software and during this time NOTHING can be used until it has been verified QWERTY keyboard, the screen, easy to use camera its heavy, size and shape make it difficult to put in pocket. leather pouch.

BB Bold rocks – BB Bold is more analytical than iPhone or Galaxy. Not everyone prefers 100% intuative phones! Bold is 60-40% which suits some of us. For Australia, BB is more unique than following the pack, but for chatting, BB messenger is cooler than Whatsapp or Line. Will stick with RIM Blackberry for a few years yet Compact, good price, great for photos n videos Battery still dies too quickly, and skype isn't built for BB still

Simple, Easy and Sturdy – Moving from the old Bold to the 9700 was a pleasant surprise. It functions well and doesn't freeze like the old one. Functionality is easy and simple to use. I like the personalisation of the phone to suit your needs. Shortcuts of your favourite items. Camera is not too bad. Overall I like it, but those that are a bit more tech savvy may… Read more ·  1

i want to love this phone – this is the first smart phone ive owned but have used many brands. the blackberry is the sexiest phone by far, I love the email thing, the text is so easy to read, the touch screen has the perfect amount of light, all the functions are easier - basically i just love the phone. The problem is is that I have owned a blackberry bold for about 4 months… Read more

now and this is the fourth new replacement handset they have given me. i have treated the phone with kit gloves and it switches off and never turned back on again. the handset i have now is about 6 weeks old, i love using it, it is has the best features but i am worried it may switch off again. the next time it breaks down i will regretfully go to another brand all the features, email phone switches off without warning, this is the 4th replacment handset in 4 months

BlackBerry Bold – IT is so backward to use, so clunky, as a phone it is [censored word removed], to connect to the internet it is so slow and screen is so small. It is trying to be something of every thing but it just doesn't work. Do your self a favor stay away from it. Not a thing every thing

Robust Phone – Phone works well although small buttons are sometimes hard to use is in a hurry. Slightly heavy but battery seems to have reasonable range lasting approx 2 days with medium use. Good screen/ colours. Compact size for number of features, good screen resolution & camera Scroll button wont work if your fingers are a bit wet.

Just waiting for the contract to end! – My husband got this phone two years ago and he had problems with it from day 3! The toggle that acts as a mouse was broken so Vodafone took it to have it replaced by the manufacturer. It took forever. In the end Vodafone replaced it themselves. For the first two weeks my husband had to use a old loaner phone! Then he started having problems… Read more

with the replacement phone too! The phone seems to have a mind of its own and would open random items like contact list, photos, emails when you're simply trying to read a text message! Every time he tried to open a message, the phone would decide to dial the last person he's phoned!

For some reason, it fixed its own problem....for a while! The same problem seems to come and go.

On the positive side, it was an easy phone to use. We both have Blackberries so we were able to message each other for free (until that is...my Blackberry free messenger disappeared from my Blackberry Curve random one evening!).

We also like how the keys are the same as that of a keyboard so it was easier to type.

The camera is ok but we didn't buy the phone for its camera anyway.

Anyhow for the amount of time I hear my husband yell, "this piece of c#@$!!" I don't think it was worth getting! Free when sign up for 2 years with Vodafone, easy to use when functioning, same keys as computer keyboard, pretty good camera, free Blackberry to Blackberry IM (when functioning) Broke within days, easy to break toggle, have had two broken phones of the same model

Great for everyday use – Been using Blackberry for ages now, and BB Bold for about 18 months and just love it. Fantastic battery life, great keyboard, awesome emails and social media. Not so many apps, but who needs 1,000,000 useless apps anyway? long battery life, qwerty keyboard, emails

Great business phone, not good for everything else – I spent 2 years with this phone and was happy to finally ditch it for an iPhone. As a business user, it is great. Flawless with emails and calls, and keyboard is so easy to use. For everything else, it is done poorly. Since the RIM server is in Canada, any internet requests are sent there before being sent back to Australia. This makes… Read more

internet run slow, and also internet banking impossible (it actually frozen my account access), since it thought I was trying to access my Australian bank account from Canada.

Internet websites are also troublesome to view as the browser does not fit it well. Long battery life, fantastic keyboard, excellent with emails and making calls. Everything else, poor App selection, scrolling ball gets dirty over time, poor web browsing, just stick to emails and phone calls.

I am getting older – overall happy with my BB. Compared to other mobile (especially touch screen) the screen is a bit too small and buttons are a little small. Sometimes it needs to reboot and not all the upgrade are useful. No skype... :( easy to use, compatible with microsoft, good app screen too small

Very functional business phone – This is my 2nd review of the Bold 9000 which is now superseded by the 9700, but I thought I'd like to mention that the sticky trackball can be fixed by dampening a cloth with isopropyl alcohol (available at hardware stores, also is a good lens cleaner) and runing it over the ball several times. I think the occasional stickiness might be due to… Read more

grease build up from finger tips.

I gave the 9000 a favourable first review (April 17th 2009) and now, over 2 years later, I still like it - it's a very functional business-oriented phone and I don't miss a touch screen or high-res camera at all.

It still displays the annoying problem of occasionally switching itself off & re-booting when in certain areas but it happens only occasionally now (about twice a month).

This review is too late for someone to buy a new Bold 9000 (the 9700 is available instead) but I am very impressed with Blackberry build quality - my phone is badly scarred from countless drops but when it's dropped I gather up the pieces (unit, battery, cover) and reassemble it - and away it goes again! Functional, easy to synchronise with Outlook contacts.

OK – Had the Blackberry Bold 9700 for almost two years. Overall, very good for emails - not sensational as an all-round smartphone but still very functional and preferred it over the iPhones. It's been a great smartphone - moreso for the business use than recreational / social functions. The screen and QWERTY keyboard are large enough to read and use… Read more

and once you get used to the menu and navigation (changed from using Nokia phones for the past 8 yrs) it was easy to use. Loudspeaker was good quality (although a bit tricky to activate) After removing the headphones the phone wouldn't return to normal speaker - it kept the speaker going through the headphone jack

Bad – Great design and functionality, however the fact the phone broke so early wasn't great. Especially as I had to revert back to the old Blackberry pearl which in comparison (function wise)is not great QWERTY keyboard is excellent. Has a big wide screen so makes reading emails etc easy. Is pretty user friendly. After less than 12 months the volume… Read more

Good – The Blackberry bold 9000 is a great launch smart phone from blackberry which stepped up the company in the top smart phone makers on the market. The phone itself is not bad at all but it also comes with a high price tag. Good – The blackberry bold 9700 smartphone is a great addition to the busy executive's list of gadgets. Excellent – Had my Blackberry Bold for a little over 1 month now and beside the lack of fancy apps, its a very good business phone. Excellent – There is not much to fault on this smartphone. It comes equipped with all you need to start. Customisation is easy but you'll find that you need to go online to search for ways to do things. friendly and extremely easy to use. The function and clarity of the screen make it easy to navigate and see content on the screen. The QWERTY keys are small, but not too small. The track pad is responsive and accurate. The package comes with everything you need including a leather case and handsfree kit. Not much. The package comes with start up instructions but they are very basic. You'll find that you will be on the internet searching for ways to do things or set things up. The BlackBerry site has a user forum and has extremely useful contributions.

Good – I do love this phone for how simple it is to use, but I really don't like how bad the battery life is. But it suits my needs for emailing, sms and phone calls with some internet browsing on the side. I would recommend it. the MSN is great, and the phone responds well to apps from BlackBerry App World. Sometimes the track ball seems to get a bit stuck when scrolling down, the battery life is really bad - I have to charge mine every night. The internet browser really is very basic and pretty crappy, but it generally does the job for me. Sometimes it goes a bit crazy and freezes or just turns itself off, but I reckon I may have just got a dodgy handset - nobody else I have asked who has the Bold has had that issue.

what I would call it. There is nothing else which comes close to ease of use. Screen is nice and bright, clear. Phone is durable. Don't expect great games. The battery life dies quickly if you leave wifi mode on all the time - otherwise 3-7 days on a single charge is realistic. Not meant to be used soley for its browser capabilities... short on the run info its great for.

OK – Needs some of the old games on it by default. For email on the move it’s very good but you need to purchase a Mobile data pack as WiFi is not always an option. If you have the money to run this tool for a business, good. If your budget’s tight, walk away from it. The Bold 9000 has a nice “track ball”. Newer BB has a very over sensitive button but… Read more

it is a little smaller in the hand. If using Telstra's Next G network, make sure you have the latest software to take advantage of Telstra's "Blue Tick" coverage. Without it, it's a city phone only. If purchased mid to late 2009 or after you should have the software installed by default. Nice looking phone and easy to handle. Don't regret buying it but it sure has given me some headaches. Spend the time getting advise on this phone 1st before putting your cash in the sellers hands. Blackberry Bold 9000 : Nice screen and very good resolution. Menu is easy to use. Contact list is extensive detail but read the “cons”. WiFi very good even using a N router (unit is b/g) but seems OK talking to a N WiFi router. Telstra Next G is awesome on this unit. Browser not too bad but remember, it’s not a PC so good for a mobile. Phone quality good. Sound quality for music and video, the best. Word and PDF doc viewer is good, but has to be purchased. The genuine BB case put’s the phone in standby when inserted. Nice feature! Not too heavy in the pocket. The software for creating a word doc, or modifying it, also the pdf viewer has to be purchased. Be warned, your old phone SIM will NOT transfer over all the contact details. This phone’s contact list is MS Outlook format only and you will need to load all your old phone contacts into Outlook then sync with the BB software. For a business phone if you have access to the BES, very good. If for private use, get yourself a Nokia E71. Status symbol phone for sure. Camera is just OK (Video is poor) and screen is difficult to view in sunlight. Need small fingers & fine nails to operate the keyboard. Have had trouble with WiFi with 2 Netgear routers (authenticates but won’t talk to the internet). All others seem OK. Bluetooth - not always happy talking to the commoner's phones. Unreliable and not always easy to do.(I believe the Bluetooth security is the reason). Unit can be very frustrating to the uninitiated but gets better with use.
