Enter password-THIS DOES NOT WORK How does a tech company have such a bad user interface?

Hi Bob, Thanks for getting in touch. If you're joining the Wi-Fi manually you're missing the easier and better way to connect that was released with these models. Simply open the BlackVue app, log-in, select "Add Camera" and select "QR code" to scan the QR code in the box. This will add the camera for you to the app.

If you don't have the box then we can connect via Wi-Fi, but for this model it is a password that's simply written on the camera's label itself. If you're having trouble just give our local team a call and we can talk you through it, it should take us no more than 2-3 minutes to help get you connected on the phone.

Thank you again for reaching out. We look forward to hearing from you.

Purchased a Cellink Neo 8+S battery for my dashcam. It was not holding its charge after a few weeks and was sent, under warranty with free postage, to Blackvue Australia (who support this product locally). Despite extensive testing, they were unable to find the fault. However, they acknowledged that it could be an intermittent fault and sent a new replacement.

Have never had such a fantastic service outcome. Thank you Blackvue Australia.

p/s bought a second battery for my son's dashcam.

Got a dealer fitted blackvue 800 Gold dashcam, found out when U turn your vehicle off the dash cam shuts down doesn't go into parking mode. Contacted national warranties and they have confirmed that yes that correct. And that a backup battery is the only way parking mode will work.So after paying $1300 for it then having to buy the back up battery $465 and then getting it wired in $250, I'm now out of pocket $2015 which I can't get any reimbursement for.

Hi Ray, Thank you for taking the time to write your review.

The DR800 Gold has a feature that protects your battery, it turns the camera off if your car's battery is too low on charge. This means our dash cameras can never flatten your battery, leaving your car ready to use.

Most people get about 6 hours of parking mode before this threshold is met, some people get up to and over a day of parking mode, but for some people the battery in the vehicle might operate at such a voltage that when you turn your car off the camera turns off right away so that it doesn't risk flattening your battery, usually this happens if either your battery is low on charge, the battery is small in capacity, or if the battery is not healthy. For these cases sometimes it is best to get a dash camera battery pack since all dash cameras will need some source of power whilst you are parked and if your car battery isn't providing that then a dash camera battery pack can be a good alternative if you drive enough to charge it up.

Please feel completely welcome to contact us again and we can help to talk you through the settings your camera has so that you can choose at what threshold the unit does turn off, we can discuss if battery packs are a good choice for you or anything else that might help to discuss. You can contact us by email at support@blackvue.com.au Or by calling us on 1300 967 777 between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday (AWST).

If I would known this before i paid $1300 for it from the dealer. I would of bought another brand. My partner MG has another branded dashcam and it runs 24/7 it has a built in battery. This garbage blackvue I had to pay for a backup and then installation. Which has bought the total $2000 It's because I spent to much on it that I don't throw it out.

Hi Ray, Thank you for your reply. Absolutely, being able to have a chat about what you're looking for and what you're interested to get is really valuable and we speak to people across Australia every day facing the same questions and so I'm happy to say our team is always glad to have that chat about your circumstance and what is good to consider. When you are interested to buy one of our dash cameras aspects like parking mode, microSD card memory sizes, or choices of the cameras in our range are good to consider. It is a shame we didn't get the chance to chat before your purchase, if we had spoken about your interest in parking mode we might have been able to shed some insight from customers we've spoken to with new cars as well.

Because of the temperatures that dash cameras get up to inside a hot car during summer, batteries inside of cameras can be less durable, less reliable and they also offer quite a small amount of stored charge, almost every dash camera on the market does not use an internal battery for these reasons. BlackVue cameras can be hardwired to safely draw from your car battery's stored charge, or to an external battery pack which stores charge whilst you drive, the camera still has an internal supercapacitor meaning in an accident even if power is severed to the camera, the camera can save that video of the incident. In your case and if you spoke to our team about it after your purchase, it does sound like the dash camera is simply finding that your battery is low on charge, and the camera turns off to protect your battery. This is a protective feature and since it is turning off when you turn off your car, it ultimately refers us back to your battery, the charge it currently has, the amount of charge it can store, and other factors that can be specific to your car and driving habits.

I would like to turn your experience around since we always hope a positive experience where you feel safer with your new dash camera, would it help to speak about this over the phone and see if we can help to discuss anything or what else we've experienced in these cases? Since the camera is operating as it designed to maybe it would help to discuss the other factors to see if there is a way to make the most of the camera.

Kind regards,

So glad I got one – We had a BlackView Gold dashcam duo (with 17 hour back-up battery) installed in the front window and the other dashcam in the rear window ... on a brand new 2022 Mazda CX-5 GTSp. The car, was just 2 hours old, when a Toyota Hilux ran up our bum at a round-a-bout. The BlackView Gold captured the whole thing, the driver of the Toyota had a laps in attention to what was happening in front of him and was seen on the dashcam looking to his right, right up until he hit our car.

I'm so grateful I decided to get the dashcam before I drove out of the showroom floor. The view is crystal clear and picks up number plates ever so clearly.

Best money I've ever spent on a car ... 110% recommend anyone looking at getting a BlackView Gold for your car, you NEVER regret it, nor will you ever know when you'll need it.

Tip: The back up battery, lasts for 17 hours. Otherwise, without it, recording will only lasts 2 hours.

So, if your shopping for Christmas presents and it takes 3 hours of shopping to complete, the 17 hour battery will cover you while you shop. Without the back-up battery, if someone runs into your car 2 and a half hours into your shopping, you'll regret not getting the back-up battery.
