BlackVue DR450-1CH

Great Quality Image and Reliability – This dash-cam is now a couple of years old, and would be considered bottom of the range for many, but it has worked well for me. It is a bit annoying to have to take the SD card out to view, but at this price point, WiFi is not included so no remote viewing options. One thing that I like about it is the tiny footprint, of course that means there… Read more · 1
is no screen on it for viewing.
The camera comes with a 16 GB card, which is only good for about 6 hours of footage (at maximum quality), so I would probably get a bigger card next time. Apart from that it has been great - excellent image, excellent reliability, fault free, hastle free. And at the right price too!
I will definitely be buying a BlackVue dash-cam when this one eventually dies (still going strong after 2+ years)
Easy to set up and use. Compact. Unobtrusive – I have had this unit for about 6 months now. The install ( for both the camera and power magic pro) was easy enough and overall the camera produces quite a clear picture, although it's not easy to read number plates should you need to. I was happy enough with this camera that I bought it's successor (DR590) a couple of months after my initial purchase of the DR450. Show reply
Overpriced difficult setup lack of functions – Basically a WAY overpriced good quality dash cam with limited functions. Can only change settings and view files outside the car on a PC. Tip: Save yourself LOTS of money get a $60 camera that you can see files and change settings IN THE CAR. Take the wife out for a meal, get the car hand washed and have a coffee for the price of this unit.
Simple and easy to use. Very happy – Have recently installed two of the DR450 S in my ute and family car. Both seem to be working well. Fitted a power magic and gps to the family car for extra protection in car parks etc. Much better quality than the ones I had in the past. Had a problem with one of the sd cards but replaced by blackvue with no problems. All up very happy with these cameras and am happy to recommend them. Show reply
Good camera for the price – I have used Blackvue cameras for 4 years Have a DR400GW-HD in my wifes car and a DR500GW-HD in my wagon. Have upgraded the 500 to a 750S Dec 2017 Recently upgraded my rear camera from a DR350 to the new DR450GW-HD with GPS Am quite impressed with this camera as it is as good as the 500 and is much better than the DR350. I use 3M Dual… Read more
lock tape to mount my cameras as it allows me to remove them and use them in a different car if needed They are hard wired into the fuse box in each car (2 VW's) and have had no problems with any apart from having to renew the internal batteries in the two older ones. They have worked in temps from -4 in Canada to 40+ in Texas and Queensland. Despite some having problems I am running top of the line Sandisk Class10 128gig cards in all of them without problems. Also use a Power Magic wired to control both cameras in the wagon.
Would recommend Blackvue cameras to anyone requiring a quality unit.
Most of the problems with all models are from incorrect installation or bad setups and not always the cameras fault
Have since bought anther one on special from Autbarn for my Sons car
A really excellent product – A top notch, value for money camera. Easily read footage. Its small profile makes it unobtrusive. Make sure it is installed just below the mirror, in a position which is swept by the windscreen wipers. One important note regarding the optional GPS module: The plug requires a hard push to plug it in properly; push till it clicks in place, not till it stops going in. I thought mine was U/S, but I hadn't pushed it in far enough. Show reply
Great gadget - great value!! – I installed the unit myself and was a bit disappointed that the GPS module would boot up and then the blue light would go out. I checked the footage on my Apple Mac and sure enough, there was no GPS info recorded. I emailed the Australian office and they suggested checking that I had fully inserted the plug for the GPS module. Sure enough, it… Read more · 1
wasn't right in! Now the blue light remains on and GPS data is being recorded, along with video footage and soundtrack. Great little unit. And they haven't skimped on the length of the power cable: you can position the unit discreetly behind the rearview mirror and there's plenty of cable length to reach the centre console....concealed all the way. A really neat installation is feasible in nearly any installation. The best feature of this unit is that it can be managed and the video footage can be viewed on an Apple Mac. Just download the appropriate viewer software. Easy to use and great image. If you want to change the time zone, be patient until all the time zones load up and then pick the zone in Australia where you are located. Save this setting and then reinsert the SD card into the unit. The unit will bootup and a voice will announce that the card is going to be reformatted (because you changed the time zone), so ensure that you save any previous video footage you want to keep, prior to reinserting the card into the unit.
Great camera but mounting failed within 36 hours – I decided to buy this camera after reading all the reviews about it online. I've got to say that the camera itself is fantastic, and for the price it has to be one of the best on the market. I followed all instructions for mounting, and used the adhesive pads supplied with the camera, then took the car for a drive and it worked perfectly. However… Read more · 1
the next morning the camera was hanging by the wiring, and since then whenever it is a warm day the adhesive pad fails, the pad is actually still stuck to the windscreen but came apart from the camera itself.
So now I am scouring forums trying to find alternative methods to stick the camera to the windscreen for more that 36 hours.
It's such a shame that a great product like this falls down slightly on something as simple as an adhesive pad
BlackVue DR450-1CH - Just what i needed – Having previously ordered a higher grade of BlackVue for my main car I thought I try the cheaper version on the second car. Works perfect, no noticeable difference in performance. Great service and advice on the original choice and fantastic delivery. Now looking for another camera for my other car. 5/5 service. Couldn't install it quick enough!!! – Wanted something that was small and compact, simple to use, but not a useless image....big ticks all round, even came with the tool to hide the wires in the car head cloth. No errors when fitted to VW as my friend bought a cheap crash cam recently of unknown brand and it messed with the electrics of the car. Recommended, bought another one for… Read more · 1
my wife's car already.....parking option included and worth getting the power magic pro for piece of mind when my car is parked.
Great dashcam, always reliable – Love the simplicity and quality of this device, great value for money! Works in all conditions I need and footage is very high quality with license plate recognition coming very much in handy Marking moments of shock is also very useful for quickly finding the time of impact when you need to.
