The perfect entry to blackvue – Got this camera for an upgrade after having a less quality brand for awhile and Holy smokes is it good. It's recording is so much cleaner, crispier and cleaner then my previous brand camera. Def worth the money if you can. Show details ·  1

These are excellent dash cams even if some are fairly expensive – Have owned 6 Blackvue cameras from an original DR400 Korean vers to a 750S. Have had little trouble from any of them and the 590 is no exception. Am using it as a rear camera in my SUV and has as good an image as the 750 and gives no trouble. Replaces a DR450 in which the memory battery died and had to be replaced. It also has good image quality… Read more ·  1

for a basic camera Am using 200GB cards in them My 400 still works as does the 450 They are quite easy to install except for getting into taildoors on SUV's Footage is good quality and plates are easily readable if footage is paused. I dont worry about Wifi or the Cloud

Quality images – It is easy to set up using its manual. The quality of picture is pretty good. One of the thing I do not like about this one is I have to remove the SD card when I want to check the footage. I should go with the one that has build-in wifi. Show details

Poor reliability and customer service – Relatively easy to set up, their PC software is hot garbage though. I have two of the DR590-1CH and one developed the well-documented "Russian boot loop" error after 18 months and a 33 degree day. Blackvue stated that I will have to pay for a repair. Not a product suited to Australian climate and certainly not a product the company stands behind. Spend your money elsewhere. Show details

Cannot fault it – Had this unit a month now after upgrading from cheaper ebay Chinese units.Unlike those all the settings/menus are done through a p.c and you have to download the blackvue viewer programme from their website first.Initially I thought that to be a PITA,once you get use to it though its no big deal. You need a blackvue, mlc, pittasoft branded sd card… Read more

and I recommend a 64gb size so you get a minimum of 12hrs FHD 60fps recording.

Recording quality is good, the unit talks to you on set-up,start-up and shut down:-),It doesn't perform miracles as far as picture quality goes for clear reading of number plates at 100km speed maybe a 4k unit is the go.

Many settings available through viewer, and options of parking sensor battery pack available,i like to turn the g sensor off personally.

Very discreet barrel design which is in its favour and obviously black in colour.the 3m scotch tape design is soooo much better than the suction cup method which tend to fall off the windscreen in heat or over time.

This is the base level blackvue,no gps functions.

Pretty Good – I purchased this unit for a second car, after having had a DR450 for a couple of months. After an initial issue with the performance of the DR590, Blackvue were happy to replace the unit. The DR590 has a better lens than the DR450 and the picture is certainly clearer than the DR450, however so far, this clearer picture can only be obtained by… Read more

watching the vision via media player rather than on the Blackvue program. I don't know if this is a problem for others or not. While this is not particularly ideal, it's not the end of the world.

The only other issue I have with it is that the parking mode for this camera has constantly, at random, registered impacts whilst in parking mode, despite being in the garage overnight sometimes or outside my front door or in other areas where nothing could have impacted the vehicle. I have reduced the sensitivity of the camera from the factory settings but it has still continued to a lesser extent. If it wasn't for this, I would rate it good to excellent.
