Bought and installed this in new car by car dealer 2019. Always worked. But after a recent accident in March, I realised that no videos were captured since January this year. usual. While trying to look into this, also noticed the rear camera LED was not on. From SD card, rear video files were intermittently missing. Frustrated the appropriate warning message to alert me. Is this the life of the dash cam?

In short: the app is crap, camera is ok. It happened so that I had to connect the dash cam to a freshly installed app. Tried bluetooth connection - no luck. WiFi - didn't work either. The app requires internet connection on start (what for!?!) and if you don't have it - there's just no option to connect your camera. 1 hour spent, no result. Show details

Absolute Garbage, don't waste your money!! – Had these dashcams installed as they were very highly rated at the time. Cost $1000 installed. They were great and did what they were supposed up until they updated the app and tried to turn it into some kind of vid sharing social network. They made it hard to access your videos whilst forcing cloud users into opting in to sharing live dashcam… Read more

footage with the rest of the world - clearly a massive breach of privacy. But that wasn't the worst of it, the new app logs you out, forced you to create an account, it constantly has errors such as "this user account belongs to someone else" or "this dashcam isn't registered" all the while shoving a nag screen begging for more money to use the cloud service and consequently pay the monthly fee every damn time you open the app .. its literally the first thing to you see plus the errors happen every single time you open the app.

I didn't buy the cams to watch some guys garage on the other side of the planet, I bought them to keep a record of incidents on the road, the new app is so hard to navigate just to see my own footage it makes the dashcams unusable if you don't want to pull the memorycard and use a computer every time you want to access your footage!!

I'm completely and utterly sick of this nonsense app and all the issues it comes with. Paid out $1000 and they're begging for more money every time I try access my cams footage via the app!! Blackvue can stick their $19 monthly cloud access fee up where the sun don't shine.

Clearly they're only interested in making a profit and not concerned at all about customer satisfaction or privacy, it seems they couldn't even be bothered testing out their apps, just want to turn your footage into entertainment for the rest of the world and nag you for more money.

You can't even go back to using the old app as they automatically check for updates each time you open them so you're forced to use the new crap.

Seriously considering pulling the cams out and replacing them with a different brand even though they're only a few months old!!

A pity really as the cam hardware does exactly what its supposed to do.

*Edit 2 years on* These dashcams are utterly useless now, I never had an issue with cams using the old app version, but this new app has been nothing but problems. Still two freakin years later if I want to access footage using my phone it won't connect to my cameras using the apps wifi connection, I have to plug and unplug the power cable to the dashcams repeatedly to get it to connect to the app to access footage, once it took over 12 times til the wifi would connect, it took over an hour just to get one minute of footage off my dashcams. Imagine having to do that after an accident!! Not everyone carries a laptop around with them 24/7 to get the footage off the memory card.

These dashcams are a stinking pile of garbage.

blackvue direct and covid hit. It seems i either missed a crucial email from them or it went into nowhere land. However i recontacted them in mid to late 2022 and they got me to send the camera to them that was fixed free of charge and now seems to be operating as it should, my thanks goes out to them as it was not in warranty any more. I have had a few occasions where i have taken footage to the police and have had comments that the footage and clarity is the best they have seen. Highly recommend these camera's. Setup was already done by dealer at time of installation, easy of getting details off is also easy, i prefer to take the card out and place it in the laptop to get the footage off due to a big screen. The only change i would like to see to the camera is a locking pin so when the card is placed in slot the pin slides across to stop card releasing

LTE version – I purchased the LTE version of this device (DR750-2CH LTE) to connect my car's head unit to the cloud (mostly for Spotify). I was initially disappointed with myself because I was told it did not pass through internet to wifi devices, and I had not done enough research.… Read more ·  1

The cloud features are good but was not worth paying $150/year for a 4G SIM card alone.

Much to my pleasure, I had updated the firmware and found the internet is being passed to my head unit! So now I have a cloud connect dashcam and also a cloud connected head unit. Very happy.

It is and advertised as FHD so don't expect to vision to be ultra clear. If you need plates, get a an ultra HD version.

You should probably get a Battery Pack for it. I didn't and opted for the Power Magic Pro instead. It means I have to avoid some features. For example, I've configured my setup to cut out at 6 hours and I have it set to timelapse to save battery.

I gave Blackvue 1 less star because the LTE options only support Vodafone. Vodafone is a joke to deal with - not Blackvue's fault that they are hopeless, but kind of their fault that I now have to deal with Vodafone. I'm a Telstra customer and it would have been better if I could data share my account with the dashcam (I'd get more data and would only have to pay $5/month).

I also found the Blackvue support team were very helpful and were accessible in live chat during standard office hours. They also responded promptly to my emails.

Happy with the unit. Installation was a breeze – Pretty happy with the unit. Just discovered it's discontinued, because I've only had mine for about 12 months. Unit works well when you get used to it. The Sensor doesn't always work (File Locking) Tech Support people were friendly and helpful with a few questions I had. I stupidly purchased off E-Bay and should have purchased through an Authorised Dealer, but I didn't know at the time. Apparently there may be warranty implications. Show details

I prefer the $99 one my brother purchased – I am incredibly regretful of the amount of money I spent on this unit. It is so unreliable, complicated and temperamental. At first it only saved recordings for 24 hours. Now it connects to the archaic app when it feels like it and the front camera films upside down Massive waste of money. Excellent Customer Support But Extremely Poor Quality Product – I decided that it was time I wrote my review after using the camera now for nearly 4 months. It was installed mid-July. I wanted to give this thing a chance first with the help of Blackvue to see if we could get it sorted out. So this is my experience so far: I have had numerous issues with this camera but I will say that Blackvue customer… Read more

support has been excellent throughout with my problems and I can only give them praise and a big thumbs up. Its just shame that they have to support a poor quality product that is, in my opinion, not fit for purpose. My first issues started around mid-September when the rear camera would drop out. I only realised when checking the files that intermittently the rear files were missing. I contacted Blackvue support who were very helpful and promptly sent out a new connection cable for the rear camera. After a temporary fit for a period of time to test the cable it seemed to do the trick so I re ran it through the car properly replacing the old one. The second issue started towards the end of September when on checking the files again I noticed that when in parking mode, using a B124 Ultra battery for power, the file types would change from P type files to N type files even though the car hadn't moved anywhere and there was a large time gap between the files. When playing back the first N type file after the time gap you could hear "starting normal recording" This basically started happening a number of times and turns out the camera was overheating, turning itself off, and then rebooting when it had cooled down again. On checking the max daily temps on the days the camera was overheating and turning off it ranged from 22.1 - 26 degrees. Yes I know it can get a lot hotter in the car but certainly not too hot and as Blackvue said "The temperatures you have listed are much lower than the temperatures where we have experienced these cut offs before" We tried changing from motion & impact mode to the time lapse setting to see if it helped but it didn't. Customer Support decided to send me out a replacement front and rear camera. Thats when problem number three arose. On fitting of the replacement cameras I went back to square one again and the rear camera kept losing connection unless the connector cable was in a certain position. If you moved the camera or the plug it would turn off. Blackvue then sent me another replacement cable which was installed. Problem number four was noticed again a couple of days later when the replacement camera went back to shutting down when getting hot. That day the outside temp was 25.6 degrees. I went back to Blackvue and this time they offered me the DR900S as a replacement. They tell me that apparently the 900S has a higher temp cut out setting that is approx. 10 degrees higher than the 750S. The 900S has now been installed and is on test as we speak. It is starting to warm up a bit more now here in Perth. On install though I found again that the rear camera connection plugs are very sensitive to movement when touched. Once set they seem to be ok but if you touch the plugs or move the camera angle for any reason the rear camera goes off. It is definitely a connector issue be it the plug or the camera socket or both? That is 3 cables now including the original one. To this point I haven't reported it back to Blackvue again. I have taken further precautionary steps myself now to try and reduce the overheating issue by putting a piece of card covered in tin foil on the windscreen, above the front camera, so the camera is in some shade and hopefully it reflects some of the direct heat from the sun? Today I have also fitted some small motor heatsinks to the front camera body that I saw on the Dashcam Talk Forum website for the overheat issue others seem to be having around the world. See attached pictures. Some report success in that it helps dissipate the heat from the camera body. Time will tell. I understand it is going to struggle on the very hot days we get in Perth but the low temps it was cutting out at really make this camera unfit for purpose and shouldn't be sold into markets where it gets hot and promoting a parking mode feature that is not reliable when it does get a little bit hot and sunny. It is extremely annoying, frustrating and I shouldn't have to through all this crap but I am trying to live with this issue at the moment as I need a camera in the car especially for parking mode use. It was the primary reason I purchased it for in the first place. Something reliable and fit for purpose would be nice. I thought I was buying a quality product considering the price.

Would I buy another one ? With the still faulty connections and the "self fix" lengths I have to try at additional cost to myself on a $600+ camera. Great customer service or not - I'm sorry to say NO.

If it carries on I will be exercising my Consumer Rights and will be looking for a refund. I think Blackvue have had enough chances now.
