BMW iX xDrive40 (2021-2026)
VerifiedAlso referred to as: BMW iX xDrive40 2025 and BMW iX xDrive40 2027.1 review
Great Car, Horrible Reliability, Insulting Depriciation – Such a Beautiful Car that rides so comfortably, super quiet, great to look at, with true prestige attached. But as a mechanical device, it's a failure. I have owned EV's since 2017. The BMW was part of my Chauffeur car fleet. All my customers loved it when it was on the road. But less than two years of ownership with only 79,000 km it has been off the road more times than my Tesla Model X which has 520,000 km. Along with the obligatory servicing of the BMW as opposed to a Tesla which doesn't have scheduled services, the BMW was a very expensive EV twain.
Sure, BMW has a four year subscription to Chargefox for free charging. Which helps a lot. The salesman also assured me that I could charge up at any BMW dealership. But that hasn't gone all that smoothly! Some BMW dealerships simply ask if you had bought the car there and if not they don't extend charging facilities to you.
This car has had numerous software issues that has cost me weeks off the road. I understand my car would've had one of the highest kilometre readings in Australia being worked as a chauffeur car. This gave BMW Australia a Realistic into future problems that this model will provide for the vast majority of owners who only cover 10 to 20,000 km per annum.
But they seemed to be an error of resignation from The 3 BMW dealer service centres that I presented the car to. They didn't know the car, Germany couldn't help or simply didn't care.
I so loved the car but had to get rid of it.
The car retailed at $157,000. Thankfully, I got it significantly cheaper because it was a dealer demo and going on as a chauffeur car which is great exposure for a new BMW model.
The car was bought in August 2022. It was a February 22 build And BMW only offered me $50,000 as a trade in!!!
Why would BMW insult its own brand of cars and customers in this manner?
BMW have run their flag up the pole For all to see. A secondhand BMW only two years old Is with less than the third of its original price.
Keep away from the financial disaster AB BMW EV Will provide you.
