Great at first. Everything starts breaking after 2 years – Great at first, but with perfect up-keep everything starts breaking after 2 years. Feels like im driving an iPhone. I bought a brand new 2013 in 2014. in the last year I've spent over 2 thousand fixing random things that just break and I've taken such good care of this bike! I intended to have it for at least 10 years. now I feel like im stuck… Read more

with a piece a bike that just sucks money out of me. The gas tank neck threading wore away so the gas cap was just falling off (WTF?) so i had to replace the whole gas tank since it's all one piece. Belts have busted, starters needed replacing, and every time I go tot he authorized SYM dealer that I bought it from, they tell me its a very rare thing and the bike should be fine from now on. Bull$hit. Now won't start, again, and it is sitting in my garage annoying me. i miss driving it :(

Just Right - For Me – I have been a motorcyclist since 1968 and in that time have owned 30+ bikes and enjoyed most of them. As an old codger I have downsized to a SYM HD 200 in a search for lighter and cheaper travel. I bought the SYM about 15 months ago and have ridden it for 19,000 km. Apart from a duff battery, the bike has been trouble free and has been excellent… Read more

around town and fine on trips up to 300km in one go. Fuel consumption has been very acceptable - 100mpg and the handling superb. The scooter is perfect for my needs.

A great way to get around – Plenty of zip around town and not bad for longer distances though a smidge uncomfortable if going over 20kms. Economy is pretty reasonable and I have not had any problems with it at all though I did have to get the harn adjusted as it was only working properly 70-80% of the time. Not a good thing when someone is trying to run you off the road.… Read more

That was not a problem for the seller though and they fixed it without any problems.. However, for a warranty service I suggest that maybe the cost is a little too high. Consider a non-dealer bike shops for that and save some cash.

Great scooter for only 200cc – Love my 2013 SYM 200 HD. Have 4000 miles on it. Don't know why, but every time I fuel it to the very top while on the rear stand I have a hard time to start it.Feels like it floods or a vacuum forms to prevent the fuel to flow. When the fuel level drops slightly all is well. Any ideas?

2010 HD200 24000km – Really great bike for city duties have mainly used for commuting to work in Sydney. Small enough to squeeze through traffic greats lane splitting scooter to save time in peak hours. Strong mid range punch up to 0-80km/h perfect for getting away from lights quickly. Great handling scooter wise agile sure footed even in the wet. Fuel becomes a… Read more

non issue when you own a scooter but range is good also 200km from 8 litre tank.

Reliability basically bullet proof, no issues just normal servicing and tyres.

Brakes work fine squeeze front add some back brake if you really want to pull up quickly pad life is good too.

The little idiosyncrasies with this bike,

When fueling pull fuel nozzle right out once it shuts off and add last litre or so with nozzle out of tank until it's full.

Speedo is not the most accurate minus 6-10km/h from gauge

Same with fuel gauge stays high for a while then drops like a stone empty is not empty you will still have 1-1.5 litres in the tank.

Seat after 40 mins in the saddle numb bum sets in for me 6'2 100kg.

Stock tyres are average get some Pirelli better feel and wet weather confidence when you replace then.

All are small issues and easy to live with when you get to know the bike.

Would have no hesitation recommending this bike as a do all city traffic time saving tool that's reliable and economical and fun that will easily leave most cars behind at the lights and give you hours of your life back from sitting in traffic not to mention parking ease. I'm sure the new models fuel injection adds to the overall package it really is a no brainer. Don't hesitate you'll be more than happy,

After 33000 km sold the HD200 was a great scooter was trouble free and never let me down.

We'll see if my new Tmax 530 is as good as the HD.

8 years old and good as new – Mine is coming up to 30,000 Km on the clock, mostly from short trips – must have done more than 4000. It is running beautifully - serviced every 5,000 Km. It is the older version with a carbie and a rear drum brake that gets a tiny bit grabby once in a blue moon when first applied. The new version must be really nice and would be a perfect first… Read more ·  1

scooter even for a small or slender person. It is not heavy and the big wheels are much safer on Sydney streets with their charming potholes and recessed hatch covers. Tip for newbies is to swell the power in and out of the mid-range rather than snapping it on full bore. If you smoothly roll it to 2/3 you’ll be surprised how fast you are going after about 4 seconds.

A Little Ripper – I am surprised how good these SYM's are - plenty of power and easy to ride. Glad I didn't listen to the dealer that slammed them!

Great build quality, amazing engine and lots of fun – My new scoot is now on only 500km and has been a blast so far. The engine is powerful enough to accommodate a passenger and have plenty of fun. The acceleration from 0-100km/h is impressive. I have managed to get mine to 115km/h very easily. After test riding the piaggio fly 150 and then this straight after the decision was easy. It looks great… Read more

and is stable because of the big wheels. The size is perfect for me at 6ft. On the rear is has a 5kg rack which is handy. Instead of a box on the back i have an adjustable cable lock from bunnings. The brakes are good too. The service intervals at the beginning are very frequent but with a 4 year warranty its all good. Speed, exausht sound, Looks, Stability & wheel size the indicator makes a noice which is too loud.

SYM HD200 long term review – I have owned this scooter since 2008 it was the first model with disc brakes on the rear it has now done 14,000 kilometres doesn't sound like many in the 6 years since purchase but that is 14,000 k,s around the Gold Coast Furtherest its been is when I lent it to a mate he rode it to Brisbane and used it for a week up in Brisbane most of my… Read more ·  2

usage is very short distances 2 to 3 k,s at most as I live in town so the 14,000 k,s is all very short distances the scooter has performed faultlessly

I have not had it serviced since 7000K,s at which time it had pirreli tyres fitted it is now due for a new rear tyre and a major service of which I am going to replace the drive belt

I am also 6,3 tall and weigh 120KG so am no little guy it has stood up to the punishment I have metered out amazingly

I am a motorcycle rider for over 30 years closer to 50 than 40 I ride it very hard all the time its only fault in the time I have owned it was that something inside the exhaust came loose and started to rattle my mechanic cut the back of the muffler open removed rattling piece and welded it back together it runs beautifully only thing I do is check the engine oil nothing else still running the original battery

In my opinion if you are looking for a cheap reliable scooter that can keep up with traffic handles well has a large load capacity and big wheels that don't fall into potholes you couldn't go wrong

My mechanics scooter now has 80,000 k,s on the clock still running the original timing chain it is also a sym

I also have a 60 litre givi top box and custom seat designed for comfortable 2 up riding very reliable big wheels make it ride like a motorbike it is a large scooter so easily visible by other road users cheap on fuel easy to park and very durable paint finnish has stood up well so far only the muffler had a rattle

Everything I wanted and more – I've had it now for 8 months and done 2500km and had absolutely no problems. I went from a Postie Bike (CT 110) to this and the differences were enormous. It's heavy with big wheels and so sits on the road really well, you hardly notice your moving at 60km and not much more at 80km. Much better on the bumps. I fill up once a fortnight and it cost… Read more

me $11 for 5-6L. I mainly use it for short rides to work and back and it does between 200-250km on a tank. I would recommend a large container for storage and the helmet fits easily under the seat. Pleasure to ride, safe, comfortable. Great for around town, with the extra power when you need it. Easily does 100km/hr, the dealer said it can go 120km/hr, although I've only got it up to 115km/hr, I'm sure it could have gone slightly more but that was fast enough for me. Excellent service at the scooter shop Darwin, very helpful, only sold me what I needed. I love the grey colour. Comfortable, great around town with power for highway use when needed. Great on fuel

Excellent – This is my first small motorbike - scooter. I bought it new without test riding. I relied on sites like these to make an informed decision. After 2 months and 1500 ks the scooter has lived up to its reputation. It can be ridden fast off the mark and stops with confidence. I am 183 cms and sit high, giving me good visibility over cars. The high… Read more ·  2

wheels also suck up the pot holes here in the inner suburbs and enable you to lean well into corners. My Shoei TZ-R full face helmet and gloves just fit beneath the seat. I squeeze the seat down to make it latch. I added a Shad 33l top box on purchase. And as I found that random wind on my chest unnerving, and tiring on freeway rides I have added a Givi Airstar windscreen. The ride is quieter with my Nolan open face helmet, is more predictable on windy days, less tiring, requires less heavy duty jackets in cool weather and pretty dry in the rain. All those high wheel scooter riders in Italy with there high screens cant be wrong. It is a dream to ride on the Yarra Boulevard (any time) and along Beach Road (two wheel paradise) on a Sunday morning. And all this at 30ks to the litre. However riding is noisy, so I don't go without my Elacin ear plugs. Great performance, handling and looks. Known reliability backed up with 4 year warranty. Service intervals are short and I reckon are pricey for what is done. Sell the scooter and the warranty drops to 2 years for the new owner. Temperature gauge hardly moves - weird? Speedo 8% optimistic.

Excellent – I love my HD200 and I use it whenever possible. Rego cost $473.35 (Qld) for pillion riders and comprehensive insurance was $200 (obviously depends on your history). You need your motor bike license to ride this bike, but being able to sit on the speed limit and go up hills without a worry is a safe alternative. With a top box on the back and… Read more

side saddle bags, I can do my weeks shopping in one trip. I'm still working on the fuel economy, but looks to be in the viscinity of 25klm per litre. The wheels are large mags, so potholes aren't as worrysome as with the smaller scooters. Modern, sporty look, this scooter is the answer to all your needs for riding any distance. I thoroughly recommend it. After riding around on a 50cc scooter for 12 months, I upgraded to the HD200 and I LOVE the power of this one. I've done 110klm on the highway quite comfortably and the torque is great for getting around traffic and taking off from the lights. The other thing I love is there is no petrol tank on the floor (like the GMAX) so you still have a true looking scooter. Much more preferable for a female who wants to wear dresses. The seat is large and comfortable and great for when you double someone. Along with that there are large handles the pillion can hold on to each side. The lights are very large and the blinker is quite audible with a helmet on. The storage area under the seat is enough for an open face helmet and that is about it. A little disappointing when I compare it to my previous scooter.

Excellent – I used to ride big motorbikes but this is far more fun. I tried all the scooters to 250cc and I reckon you won't find more bang for your buck than this capable little Bolly. I love the big wheel stability and it's just so easy to ride. I had a windscreen fitted which looks cool and keeps the wind off your chest. I'm a big guy, (180cm and 110kg,)… Read more

and this scoot has heaps of room and power. 100k on the highway - no problem. It's the right price and has a four year guarantee. There's not much room under the seat for storage.

Excellent – The 2008 model has room under the seat for a full-faced helmet (there are slits in the underside of the seat so it 'stretches' over the helmet as you shut the seat). We upgraded from an Aprilia Scarabeo 100 and were expecting this to be a bit tacky in comparison to the Italian bike. We're pleased to say that we were wrong about that - it's very… Read more

well put together, looks fantastic in red, is very comfortable for both rider and pillion, and it sits on the road like a big bike. It provides the convenience of a step-through twist-and-go scooter, with the power and comfortable ride of a real motorbike. This bike takes two adults very comfortably and allows us to do highway speeds without any problems. We chose this bike because we're both tall and it accommodates long legs easily. The petrol tank is located handily on the side, rather than under the seat. Really like the audible indicators and the digital clock. It looks great. Very comfortable seat for both rider and passenger. Side stand and centre stands are handy. The four year warranty was the clincher. Doesn't come with a top box, however it was easy to fit one to the goods rack. Is a little heavier than my old 100cc however this extra weight is what makes it so great to ride. The weight doesn't make it at all difficult to get on the centre stand.
