Breaking down every few months – I've had so much trouble with this heater, in the last 3 years I've had 2 combastion fans replaced a heat controller, never again but Bonaire Show details
Beware ! – Installed a Bonaire 320e heater in 2017. Broke down this week and will cost me $970 to fix! Told tradie to forget it and instal a Braemer. I dont think they make it to last beyond the warranty.
Absolute junk – Had this unit since 2012 have had nothing but issues, flue exhaust fan failed replaced with a retro fit fan that was different to the original obviously because the original was a failed design, constantly replacing bearings in these fans because of the heat that is transferred. Drum fan which forces air into home fails have to replace at a… Read more
substantial cost. Now the retro fit exhaust fan fails. This company must know they have design flaws or by design they make their profit from repairs. Pretty sad state of affairs. Cheers.
Warranty - nil – The heat exchange unit has cracked and will need replacing, the system is 5 years old and has a 10 year warranty. I rang Bonaire to enquire about repair or replacement under warranty and was told that the warranty is only valid for the original owner of the property when the unit was installed.
Worst heater – Everytime I turn it on, it doesn't. To make it work I have to turn my main power off and then on. This is a known issue as my last owner informed me after I bought the house. For peace of mind, spend more. I am regretting to have a heater like this. Show details
check before you buy and don't listen to sales staff – Overall service was good. but it took 4 controllers to get it running properly . and i think it was the mother board. the sales pitch was the gas company's want you to use these new heaters as they use less gas and they can charge more for less gas. my bill was $250 more than last year, gas was the same price. and i have not used it much as i live… Read more
alone and only heated the lounge. So for a full winter bill it will be 8/9 hundred instead of $420 app. so take this into account. also i have just found out i have a discontinued product. if they told me all of this i would have not purchased it.
Doesn't last long and stop working after the 3 year warranty – We built the house in Dec 2014 and stop working on July 2018. Not happy. You think the stupid thing will only work for only 3 years. To have someone look at it already cost $290.
Piece of scrap – I will never buy another Bonaire Ducted Heater again. This was installed in a rental property in 2010, in 2011 it mysteriously stopped working. I had to 'pay' $232 for a Bonaire technician to diagnose the problem, which they blamed mice. Mind you, this property has never had any mice present. Then in 2017 the Flue Fan had to be replaced at a $592… Read more
cost. Two weeks ago, heater stopped working with a new controller required at a cost of $1,050. Bonaire or Climate Technologies were emailed, yet they hide behind some crap Operators Manual clause to regularly service and maintain the unit. A filter clean or visual inspection will not prevent major malfunction such as the ones I have experienced. It is a known fact that this model of ducted heating was riddled with problems, yet Bonaire will not assist in any compensation. This would have to be the worst heater I have ever owned, my family have had Brivis and Braemar units lasting more than 30 years.
So if you want to waste money on costly repairs, do yourself a favour and buy a Bonaire!
Very dissapointing – Bought this unit 2011, have had four winters use out of it, stopped working 8 weeks ago, phoned " mode Heating and cooling( where it was purchased ) they sent out a technision, who said it was the combustion fan, $210 call out fee, combustion fan was fitted, made no differance to the heater, some other person said the circuit board, we replaced… Read more
that, still wasn't working, ended up getting a split system Panasonic guy that fitted it looked at my heater unit and advised me to buy a new unit, very dissapointed will never purchase Bonaire again, and never anything from Mode heating and cooling, the guy was extremely rude, after I complained about the call put fee and it was mis diagnosed, he said I was complaining about a measly $200! Well not sure about anyone else but $200 is $200!! Don't like throwing my money away, they all said that series had been a fault with the combustion fan, thought I would of got longer than 4 winters out of it. Never buy Bonaire again
Bonaire heaters do not last – 4 year ago I replaced a reliable but ageing 20 year old gas ducted heater unit for a Bonaire 3 & 4 Start Gas Central Heater. My expectation is that it would last for 10 years or more. After 2 years the unit started to show signs of rust, after 3 years we would occasionally smell gas fumes in our house which I have now found out was due to a dodgy… Read more
flue in the unit. Also the heater started to make grinding noises as it fired up and basically got louder and made rattling sounds. I called a company that services the units and today they looked at the unit, told me it was a 'lemon', they encountered many problems with Bonaire and the quality of the heating units, told me the parts that needed replacing were no longer covered by warranty and I could either spend over $900 getting this rusting unit to work for a bit longer or buy another heater from a more reputable manufacturer. I now have a new unit! From my experience and from what the service guys were saying, the quality of Bonaire products has gone downhill over the last few years. I think in this world, a company only gets one chance with its customers and when their product fails miserably then you don't buy any more of their products and generally advise others also.
