This is far from perfect - I can live without it – Wife bought this mower at our old mate Bunnings. The mower used to not start so off to old mates store. WE don't sell these any more!! more times than i have had hot dinners to keep it running. The height adjustment for the wheels is a joke; crap plastic parts that break; height adjustment handle broke off; crap plastic bits again. Any dust causes dry joints in the connectors; don't know haw many times I have had to pull this toy apart to it keep it going. This mower is more trouble than its worth!! I will not be buying another Bosch U beaut, that is for sure!! Save yourself the grief; this product does not CUT IT. (pun intended) OH yes, and over priced to the crap house!!

Perfect, best thing I bought ever – I owned every type of lawnmowers before, but this Bosch battery powered is the best I ever had. Excellent Quiet Light Mower! – This mower is very powerful and easy to use though it's only a battery operated one. I had to change from petrol to the battery operated one because it's easier to use for my dad. It's very light to maneuver. To start you just need to press a button. Great mower - shame about the charger – I've had this mower for quite a few years now and it works brilliantly all the time. impressed with Bosch's engineers on that count. However there is a well written article by a guy called galooph who explains really well how to fix it (though I think his wattages were wrong and I replaced the resistor with a 1W 180k-ohm resistor and all is good again. Maybe I should start a service for repairing chargers in Melbourne ;)

Great mower! – This is a great mower. I upgraded to this from a electric cord one on a different brand. The frame is sturdy and solid. Only gripe would be the battery doesn't last long enough. I use it to mow my 700m2 block, but if the grass goes longer than 3 weeks without mowing it's too long for the mower to cut it all and battery runs out about 3/4 of the way through. sometimes 1/2 way through mowing if it's the grass goes crazier than usual after 3 weeks. Otherwise, I'd happy recommend this to anyone with a block of less than 700m2 unless you purchase a second battery to continue your mowing.

Served me well – I was happy for 4 years then all of a sudden battery would only last 5 minutes after charging so bought a new battery, not cheap nevertheless cheaper than a new mower, new battery appeared to change but zilch power, was told the charger had died rather than the battery.  Show details

Light to manoeuvre battery good but $$$ – after 10yrs service from a Vista 2stk corrosion and repairs to the body/throttle setup/handle it was time to look for a replacement. $700 when it was newly released and perfect for my folks due to relatively small lawn area but it's an expensive mower. Acceptable turn around on repairs and found the charger to be at fault. No issue with Bunnings in my area, it was pain free. No doubt probably because it was the charger a fault and it seems common for such an early model.

However it's now needing bearings as it's loud and creates resistance on the motor, and the safety lever mechanism (plastic) has broken. Just got word back from the repairer it's gonna cost over $400 in total to repair inc. the bearings. We're now on the look out for another mower.

I don't believe we've got our monies worth out of no petrol use but it has served well with being highly manoeuvrable due to it's light weight. Folks just hired a petrol job to make do and they couldn't believe how heavy it was after not using one.

Served well on buffalo. It's a bit harsh to pit value against ease of use but would buy again.

Long live the Rotak 37LI. Roughly 5yrs of use in the Tropics FNQ.

(last 2 years) and use this mower for about 150m2 that can't be accessed with the ride on mower.

I've read that they don't like long wet grass. This is true and includes my $6000 mower, it doesn't like wet tall grass either.

So, keep it regularly mowed and mow late in the day when the grass is dry and the sun doesn't burn your grass after its cut.

The upsides.

- No messing around with fuel and reliable.

- Simple and quiet.

- Lasted better than expected.

- Works very well with a nice cut.

Downsides.

- The charger just stopped one day, in about the 4th year and new ones are expensive. (maybe $120?)

- I bought a secondhand mower and battery from a guy for less and they have both still work great.

I can't ask for more really. Really worth having 2 batteries. The Bosch whipper snipper (36v) uses the same battery and comes with a charger. Much better value than buying a new charger if you ever need one. Very good whipper snipper too.

Mower fantastic - battery + charger ??? – Mower fantastic - but when the battery charger blew its fuse it became too difficult to know what was wrong - the battery, the charger or something caused by the mower. Replacing the charger and battery is very expensive ... and if its a problem caused by the mower it could be a waste of time and money.

Expensive but good – Prior to purchasing this mower I was undecided between this and the larger Rotak 43. My existing mower is a 40 cut. My rear lawn is approximately 10 x 10 and my front 10 x 5 metres. That is a total of 150m2 and the mower is good for 300 according to Bosch. The battery took 30 minutes to be fully charged whilst I assembled the mower. Assembly of the mower was quite easy to do. Most difficult part was tightening the two screws that secured the handle into the mower. No problems with the grass box. Instructions were quite small to read though.

I found the default grass height setting of 3 hopeless and had to set the mower to 1. A plastic insert requires removal for you to achieve this. Possibly you are discouraged from using the lower cut to save battery power. In use I found the mower very easy to manoeuvre and obviously so much easier without a cord. The lawn looked very good after cutting.

The battery had faired well and the indicator showed one of the three green LEDs lit indicating a 1/3 of the power remaining. The grass was dry and about 25mm in height. It seem like there should be sufficient spare battery capacity to deal with longer or wetter grass. The grass box was emptied three times. With it being the smaller of the two mowers there was no problem in emptying the grass into the green waste bags.

In summary for my garden size the Bosch Rotak 37 has been a good choice. It's light and easy to manoeuvre and store. Cutting the lawn was almost a pleasure

I was genuinely surprised at how light and quiet these cordless mowers are. Due to the price difference I was set to replicate my mates purchase with a 36v Ryobi and can heartily recommend them as a generally cheaper alternative.

The Bosch though is imho an even better unit. It is considerably lighter than the Ryobi (which is itself way lighter than my Victa), at 13kg even the Mrs can lift it up and down the terraces and mow the lawn.

It is also quiet enough that we were able to hold a conversation whilst I mow. (may be a pro or a con depending on your own circumstances)

Also, I prefer the plastic clipping catcher to the shade cloth that hangs out the back of the competition.

The only drawback i can see is that it will probably struggle on really large areas and is prone to cutting out if the lawn is epically overgrown, more so if the clipping catcher is full...

As it's so easy to use I can never see the lawn getting overgrown again so it really won't be a problem for me!

Our latest charger, number three, has now died and we are trying to negotiate with Bosch to see if they will supply another one. We reckon 3 chargers (recommended retail $249) in 4 years is a bit much. Otherwise we still love the mower which does a fantastic job. Easy to use, light, quiet, no petrol, oil, plugs to worry about a bit expensive but worth every cent

Disposable Mower – I loved this mower, worked well for almost three years. Then the battery didn't charge. Wasn't sure if it was the charger or the battery so I thought I would look at both. Bunnings no longer stocked this mower, so it took a while to get the prices. For both the charger and the battery... $520. So light and easy to use. Apparently it is disposable.

Acquired 2010, still going, just – I bort my Rotak 37 in 2010 and its still going. Of late its been hesitant to start so Im worried its on its last legs. Symptom - motor whirs for 1 second then stops. Try it a bit later and it starts. Battery seems fine, showing 3 bars. Hopefully it will last this spring and summer. In terms of the last 3 yrs usage - no complaints. Its perfectly fine for modest lawns and modest tasks in suburbia. No petrol hassles! Light. Seems well-built. In its 4th year of operation it occasionally doesnt start, but still hasnt died. Fingers crossed!

The best mower I have ever purchased ! – I initially purchased the 37 LI to mow a very small yard in Sydney and found it to be exceptional in performance. importantly no electric cords to run over. The safety cut-off is great as you don't end up mulching your lawn if you hit a hole or setting the cut too low.

It cuts right to the edge is perfect for me as it makes the edge trimming a 2 min job.

The catcher seemed small at first but when compared to the old petrol mower catcher I found it more than adequate. In fact because of the design I found it the only mower I have ever owned that filled the catcher 100% even when mowing wet grass !! This was terrific as it does not seem to ever clog with grass. This has been well thought out and the German engineering really shows even if it is subtle.

I have now taken the mower to Coffs Harbour and I have substantially more lawn and the only thing that I need is a 2nd battery so I can swap between the two to finish the yard. Still the quick charger does what its supposed to do and gives me an excuse to go inside for a break.

I have even used the mower to mulch a large pile of gravillia off cuts and it did these with ease. While I would not do this normally it proved it wasnt a light weight compared to its petrol counterparts.

The mower is very light weight and a joy to mow the lawn. You don't break out into a sweat from pushing the mower as its better to move and control than a self propelled mower. Its so light I was able to lift it easily into raised beds which are normally cleaned off with a trimmer. Hills are easy to tackle and you can even mow with one hand in tight places.

Unfortunately it looks like a toy and many guys would be put off by this (Especially when you are paying big money). My neighbour had to come out and have a look (and a laugh) as when he heard me mowing, in his words, "it sounded like I was vacuming the lawn". After the initial laughs and sideways look at the bright green colour he tried it out and was very impressed at the performance. He quickly stopped laughing and wanted one for himself. Mind you he still says I am "vacuming the lawn".

The final test of the mower, one which I was scared to do was that I could wash it down after I finished mowing. Care should always be taken not to get water near the electrics but it seems to be designed to divert water away from critical areas as long as you don't use high pressure. I only did this after mowing wet grass.

If you can get over the initial look of the mower you won't be dissapointed. Very Light weight, catcher is 100% efficient, motor is quiet (I can even hear the mobile ring), no petrol-oil etc, does a great job. If anything I would have to say Expensive. I have yet to see the durability of the plastic but as long as Bosh can provide replacement parts this should not be a problem. Really should come with a second battery (especially since Bunnings are making a killing on the re-sale)

Excellent – A great mower but the one I chose (37) is too small for my 1/4 acre block, however it will do. With only one battery, beer time comes around quickly. Light & the wife can use it! (weight is 60% of equivalent petrol mower)Quiet, can cut the grass at Sunday lunch time Catcher is too small.Bosch should ship it with a second battery to increase cutting time.Cannot handle gum nuts - they jam the blades & can be hard to remove.
