Stinks of Bitumen
We've had it one day. The smell of toxic road tar is overwhelming. I've used two different dishwasher cleaning products on it, and its had a total of five cycles run. The smell is still disgusting and overwhelming. We did one load of dishes, twice. They absolutely stink. Its going back today.
Sounds odd - but make sure you *smell* the unit before you install it. If it smells like road tar, send it back.
Edited to add: The Good Guys refunded us and we brought an LG instead.

Horrible, cost more in service callouts than the dishwasher
Like a few others, constant faults. Error 25 and pump issues, door sensor, drainage, etc. Machine is under 3 years old. And after warranty runs out Bosch support basically tells you to go away, you no longer exist to them. Horrible experience and last Bosch product we will buy!

Works well but I have reservations.
Works well, but:
Times jump from 30 mins to 2 hours 15 mins. Nothing in between.
The 2 hrs 15 mins does not dry.
So I am not gushing with praise. Look around is my advice.

Nothing but trouble!
The worse dishwasher ever. I have had the water pump replaced twice. I rinse my dishes before I use my dishwasher. Constant error 25 on a dishwasher that is only 3 years old. Terrible!

Lasted 2 years and 3 months then died
Worked well for two years then error messages began. Was repaired after two repair visits and three weeks, worked for several weeks then flooded kitchen and, when dried out, was completely dead. Have now waited over 6 weeks for the second repair (by a different tradie). Repair person has been back twice, third time booked he didn’t show up. Still no word on if or when Bosch will help resolve this issue, to myself or to the repairer. I bought this brand as several people I know have one and recommended Bosch. I won’t be one of those who do.

better basket blueprint
as a courtesy to other consumers i am writing a few comments on our new bosch dishwasher. basically its the same as the old one we had which looks identical except that the controls have six rectangular buttons whereas the earlier model purchased in 2015 only had four. first, its disappointing that the earlier model died at such short age using once a night. 35 cents per night over the life of 6 years. an error code 15 came up which is a leak somewhere so be careful buying a second hand one. the code can be removed by tilting the machine backwa...rds for about 10-15 seconds which drains the sump and allows the safety float to drop back down resetting the the safety switch but it only lasts a few washes. a more permanent fix is required and this can lead to all manner of issues. in my case looking for the leak resulted in error codes of numerous sorts and finally the machine would not wash for more than 3 minutes etc etc. i gave up. other than the day the machine died i would have given it 5 stars. the replacement machine is too new to make the same judgement. it is exceedingly quiet and the first wash on 29minutes worked identically to the old machine. At first i thought the basket was limited in its range of locations compared to the last machine but it turns out the basket is designed with two slots in it to enable it to be positioned virtually anywhere in the machine to maximize further the options for large pots or more plate settings. its a simple but clever idea. the prefitted racks for cutlery on the top rack are intrusive for space underneith but can be removed. there is no change to the design of the hinges but generally the guff that commonly builds up around these areas and into the sheetmetal openings is minimal and much better than other machines as i have had the old machine apart. if you ever attempt to wipe out these notoriously accumulated dirty areas beware that the sheetmetal edges and corners are razor sharp. finally, i have found the 29minute cycle is pretty much good for 90 percent of washes providing you dont have heavily baked on residue. tupperware is still difficult to dry and rice hard to remove entirely. its far easier to just clean the very odd item that needs a little extra attention as the longer cycles run for ever if you are conscious about electricity and water use.

Good quality product
Our dishwasher is 3yrs old now and in use every day. It performs consistently well and we're very happy with the quality of wash. Good range of settings. Very quiet too.

2 down in 5 years…
Growing up I can remember my parents having the same dishwasher. In fact there old faithful whirlpool has been going strong for over 25 years, I didn’t hesitate to replace the cheap one in my house after I purchased it with a nice shiny stainless one.
But after 25months my shiny Bosch series 3 died due to a water heater failure.
Thinking it was a once off, as there automotive products are so reliable, I decided to buy yet another Bosch because it had the best cleaning reviews. And they have both been great at cleaning.
But…. After 26months or ...

Had a horrible smell - discovered black mould
Purchased a brand new unit, it stank! The minute we got it home and unpacked it, my asthma started up. Didn't know what was causing the stench - rang the good guys where we purchased it and told them. They said it was "normal" and the Bosch rep is aware of these units having a bad smell. Its happening a lot lately. He said to run a hot wash & it would be fine. The smell was so strong during the cycle I had to open windows & my entire house stank. Called again & I was told to use finish dishwasher cleaner. We did that and no way was it improving.... My husband got a torch out & looked inside only to find MULTIPLE deposits of visible black mould!! It was probably worse in the parts we couldn't see. Rang Bosch direct and they just said run a few pots & pans cycles - that should sort it!! We went back to the good guys & demanded a refund. They admitted that units are tested in factory and closed up before properly drying them. A recipe for mould growth! So disappointed and put off from buying another dishwasher

Now that I moved to a place with a different dishwasher, I appreciate it so much more
Bought this a little over a year ago and found it to be pretty great. Each program is actually unique and Extra Dry actually work!
I moved into a place with a built in and its just not as good.

Amazingly quiet. Superb clean!
Installed yesterday & did my first wash with 4 large pots & 1 greasy frying pans, wine glasses, plates, bowls, greasy ladles etc. Great result! Glasses were streak-free. Pots & pans came up perfectly. Absolutely quiet so can run at night if we wish. No doubt, the pot was 2.45hrs, which is a bit long so will try half wash or eco from now on. So happy with this dishwasher.

Wash like a Bosch!
Best dishwasher. It's quiet, good value for money, cleans super dirty dishes like new (no pre-rinse needed)! The internal rack layout is perfect and sturdy - and everything fits nicely inside.

To begin, I am an avid reader, but this is the first review I have posted for a very, very long time - that says it all right there. Reason being, we had a Bosch dishwasher in a previous home about 15 years ago and it was fantastic. Subsequently, we decided to purchase this model approximately three months ago for a renovation 'without' reading any reviews prior.....as stated.....my mistake! Admittedly, we have used a few 'reputable' brands already installed in subsequent homes (Ariston and Westinghouse), but they never quite matched the perfor...mance of our original Bosch and we always missed it. We removed an old Westinghouse (functional but gnarly) from our current home, and replaced it with this Bosch. While provision for long-stemmed wine glasses is a huge plus, below are my primary grievances: 1. SMELLY 2. WET It is our belief that a top-of-the-line brand dishwasher should clean (not smell like tuna-infused plastic), and dry (to a reasonable extent) your dishes. This is especially true when an Extra Dry button is a feature, and a major contributing factor in our decision to purchase - did nobody even check to see if this button worked? Unfortunately, however, this model does neither to any acceptable level. It is only now, after reading the reviews, that we realise we are not alone in our disappointment and, thankfully, not going stir crazy thinking we had done something wrong. Finally, unless Bosch can offer us a replacement model which does operate as they claim, and not a “we are sorry to hear…..” email response, we will be enduring another four or five ‘smelly and wet’ weeks until the NY sales begin; at which point it’s back to Harvey to purchase something better! PS: this one going on Gumtree….anyone interested?
Not as good as our old Westinghouse
Doesn't get dishes clean on normal wash, has no place to keep plastics from flipping over, doesn't have an alarm to let you know it's finished.
Cost twice as much as our old Westinghouse and it's nowhere near as good.
Posted a review on the Bosch website. Got contacted by a Bosch representative who couldn't have possibly been less helpful.
Made suggestions on programming which this machine cannot do.

Great machine, dishes sparkling and the place settings fit dishes perfectly.
I’ve had the dishwasher for over a month and it’s a great machine so far. The best thing for me is that it fits all the different dishes perfectly. Such as breakfast bowls and long stem wine glasses. It’s also easy to use, with a simple button layout.

Questions & Answers
Is cold rinse (pre rinse) available on sms46n105e bosch dishwashers ? If not , is it possible use 40 degrees of centigrade (glass) program without cleaning tablets instead ?
sorry Kamyar, i do not know the answer to your question. best to direct it to a Bosch appliance customer service team. cheers M
Hi, We purchased SMS46G102A two years ago. For the three option buttons (Speed Perfect, Half Load, Extra Dry), only the button for Extra Dry can be pressed and held on, the other two could never function. Are these two functions not supposed to work for this model? Leon

This is a very easy-to-use dishwasher that provides a deep clean depending on the setting you use. It is spacious and the adjustable racks are convenient for fitting long-stemmed wine glasses and other large cookware. Reviewers noted that sometimes, the dishes do not dry and there may be a ‘plastic’ smell after cleaning. The auto cycle is 3 hours long and the short cycle may not clean as effectively.
