Too small: get the Serie 6 instead – Very disappointed that this model is a downgrade from the Serie 6 that I've had in the past. Plates don't fit the bottom basket even with the top shelf dragged up as far as it can go. The "tall glass" accommodation isn't even close to worth losing the great cutlery rack of the other model. Max plate diameter is 28.5cm. Mac diameter of Serie 6… Read more

is 31cm. It makes a *huge* difference.

I'm so disappointed I didn't do more thorough research before assuming that the capacity of the Serie 8 was at least good as the Serie 6.

Bosch misrepresented maximum plate size for Bosch Series 8 dishwasher – The Bosch SMU8EDSO1A Series 8 dishwasher instruction manual states that it can take large plates up to a diameter of 28.5cm. This is not true. The dishwasher only takes 27cm plates. Any larger and the upper spray arm hits the plates. The retailer has said it is not their responsibility and to contact Bosch. Bosch returned our call, investigated,… Read more

and said they could do nothing about the problem. There was no apology or offer to replace the model or buy us a new set of dinner plates that would fit into the dishwasher. This is clearly a case of misleading customers with inaccurate information in the instruction manual (Page 23). Totally dissatisfied with the product as it is not fit for the purpose we bought it for - to wash our dinner plates which have a diameter of 28cm. We believed the salesperson that this machine suited our needs and neglected to check reviews, many which state the same issue as we discovered - large plates do not fit in the machine. We were told by Bosch that we could remove the top tray and they would fit, reducing the setting numbers the dishwasher was advertised at, plus waste of water, environmentally unsound and plain absurd. The phone representative said we would be contacted, via email, by Bosch informing us there was nothing they could do to address our concerns. A month later no email! We would never buy Bosch products again for these reasons.

Very new, cleans well but has some shortcomings – Only in use for a week so far and it replaced an Asko dishwasher. Immediate improvements on compare are in cleaning and low level of noise. Also the acqua stop is superior in the Bosch and the drain hose is much longer than the Asko. Height adjustment on install is simpler but does require a supply your own 13 mm spanner for front adjustment… Read more

and a robust flat head screwdriver fir a front facing adjuster for the rear.

The Asko has better height/ gap between trays than the Bosch ( ie large plates in the bottom tray should IMO not be centred as they can impact the spray arm under the upper tray. Controls and wifi connected apps IMO are better than Asko

The Bosch supplied kick panel at approx 70 mm in height - IMO is not a suitable size for the Australia standard for an under counter dishwasher which is 120mm in height.

For premium machine this is IMO a unnecessary, cheap and poor choice in this price segment.

Most in built DWs will be installed into a recess of between 870 and 900 mm in height. Adjusting the height of the machine is no problem but with the supplied kick panel the gap between the floor and the bottom of the kick panel is up to 50mm. A shocker really.

I did phone Bosch who advised that I speak to spare parts - presumably for me to pay$100 plus shipping for a part that should be supplied free of charge.

If you want a machine that out of the box is with a 120 mm kick panel then look to other than Bosch. The (former) Asko had a 120mm sound insulated kick panel

The instruction to install are not great but taking care a DIY can self install although the placement of the rubber apron that fits under the door of the machine is not described in the instruction sheet and it creates an issue with the fit of a kick panel.

Note. I have by phone contacted Bosch Customer care on the kick panel and rubber apron but without being offered any resolution but have sent a follow up email.

Very dissatisfied with bottom rack clearance – Everything about the machine lives up to the Bosch reputation except... It is poorly designed for 27cm or larger dinner plates. The ONLY way to fit them in is to stack centrally (reducing plate capacity by half) on the lower basket and raising the basket above in height using the adjustable height. Even then - can only half fill the bottom basket.… Read more

Using the front and back of the basket results in washing arm hitting plates despite raising the middle basket to its highest setting. So disappointed with this machine that I'm contemplating ripping it out (less than 6 months old) and buying a different one. This model should be discontinued immediately. We bought it as it appeared to be top of the line, one of Bosch s premium products.

Bad Basket Layout – Plates over 27cm's diameter must be placed in the centre of the bottom basket to avoid being hit by the upper spray arm meaning you can't have one row of plates and one row of bowls side by side if your plates exceed 27cm diameter. This means if you have plates over 27cm's diameter you can't use half of the available crockery slots on the lower… Read more

basket. Also, if you want to place 27cm plates on the side racks you need to push the middle basket to its highest setting which reduces the clearance of the top shelf meaning tall tumblers and wine glasses don't fit very well.

We found this out as we had some 27cm and some 27.5cm plates and the 27.5cm plates are getting hit by the upper spray arm.

If you have large plates you will need to wash more often as you will not be able to fit as much into the machine as you may be used to.

After spending a fair bit on what we thought would be a great dishwasher we are now going to discard our dinner plates over 27cm's to accommodate our new machine so we don't have to use the machine more often which would make it much less efficient. This is not what we had hoped for.

All of these plates and larger glassware used to fit perfectly in our Smeg machine that we just replaced after 18 years of faithful service.

Overall Bosch have tried to cram too much into the machine compromising its practical functionality.

The pictures show how much stacking space is lost when you are forced to use the centre stacking method when compared to the side-by-side stacking method

Other than the size issue it is nice and quiet and cleans very well though as one would expect.

If you have smaller plates and glasses then ignore all the above.
