11 Years trouble free – We purchased this dishwasher in June 2010, and we like it so much I moved it to our new house when we moved 5 years ago. It is still working without any significant issue. Only thing I have found is a couple of the lower basket wire inserts have lost some of the coating which has allowed them to get some rust. This can leave some rust marks on… Read more · 1
cutlery which is a bit annoying, but after 11 years I am not going to drop a star for that. These inserts are removable, so all is not lost. It still looks like new, so I don't understand why others have complained about rust on the panels, and I have never had a fault code come up or a cycle not complete as expected. Will definitely buy a Bosch again when it finally dies. Really happy with our Bosch washing machine too!
Very disappointing for supposed " German engineering" – Purchased new about 5 years ago. Cleans dishes well but has disappointed us with constant breakdowns. Just after the warranty ran out the heater/pump unit failed, the part took 2 weeks to arrive and then another 2 weeks before the busy technician could install it. Then a fault every month or so e15, e22 and after looking for further information… Read more
online found that it was the drain pump playing up. Found the impeller had a small piece of string off a roast wrapped around it. Others online say that the impeller and pump are too underpowered and have seen a piece of lettuce leaf stop it dead. Fixed this myself and had about 6 months of good running but now it is leaking into the sump and found the source was the heater pump unit again. This is only a push on fit on the intake to the pump which as a technician myself can say is not good enough. Should have a clamp of some sort. My considered opinion is I will not be buying another Bosch dishwasher and probably never a Bosch product of any sort due to the fact they should know well and truly by now how to make a reliable dishwasher. As others have said. Junk.
If you do have one it needs better pump sealing on both the heater /pump unit intake and outlet lines(either flange sealant or clamps) and on the smaller twist fit drain pump.
Wouldn't buy a Bosch again – It does an ok job of cleaning the dishes but we have had regular E9 and E15 error messages since we bought it which "thankfully" many other people had had the same problem and posted the fix on youtube because the instruction manual was useless and the one time we called out a technician he didn't know how to fix it. The top shelf raises and… Read more
lowers which seemed great when we bought it, except to fit full size plates in the bottom area you need to have the top shelf in the raised setting - but then bowls and side plates don't fit on it.
Would not buy a Bosch again, we had our old Westinghouse dishwasher for over 10 years with no problems and have only had this for about four years with continuous problems. Will be replacing it shortly even though technically it still works.
Error terror – This machine worked fine for around 4 years then e15 and leaks have plagued us ever since. Basically tilt it and reset daily. It has turned me off Bosch and am waiting for it to be picked up to go to the dump. Made in Germany just doesn’t mean much anymore. Have switched to Miele and hoping for more than 5 years service from an expensive appliance. Show details

Has been a good machine - but heater failed at 41/2 years – This has generally been a good machine. A few internal bracket parts have broken and the drain seems to clog up too often and not drain properly. However the heating element has just failed at 41/2 years. The repair man also said that the heater is connected to the water pump so all needs to be replaced and the sump seal has also gone. all up… Read more
about $500 repair. Our last dishwasher lasted 20 years, so very disappointing and wondering whether to repair or replace.
Was good till failure at 4 1/2 years – It was great till a few of the plastic rack brackets started to break a couple of months ago, filter retainer broke as well 4 1/2 years and code ER09 heat element which is part of the pump bosch service today $200 for the pump plus callout $88 and $60 for extra time but it may not fix it will probably need a power board as well $271 another $60… Read more
labour for that
it's a major failure and am about to exercise my consumer rights for replacement or refund
I can buy a Samsung new as my son has done for $655 and it's just as quiet and cleans the same
My last dishlex lasted 15 years
Has been replaced for a brand new unit with the same specs by Bosch under warranty with no hassle and has restored my faith in them.
Very disappointed with the quality – Bought the Bosch Dish Washer for $1,500 in 2011. Less than 24 month later, rust spots started to appear along the edge of the control panel. Contacted Bosch and had the panel replaced. Again within 2 years, same problem occurred at the same area. I was sick of whinging to them again and put up with it until recently I was encouraged by my… Read more

Thought I was buying a quality product - apparently not !!! – How depressing!! I can here looking for the error code information and found so many other people in the same situation. Bought what I though was a quality dishwasher and after 5 years of use it has become unusable. I too am getting a constant error 15 - the infamous water leak and now the water is not heating. I have been a repeat buyer of Bosh… Read more

Oh Dear so disappointed – My Bosch dishwasher smu68mo5au/25 has once again got an E error, this time E9 and has stopped drying the items inside. Brought from Harvey Norman some 4+ years ago but have been out of the country for extended periods during this time. Paid good money presuming it would last and am disappointed to find myself in this position. Brought Bosch… Read more

Disappointing – This was our first dishwasher purchase for our home. We decided to go with the Bosch SMU68M05AUSS because like most other reviewers here, we felt that Bosch would be a reliable brand. Having spent a little extra on this machine ($1349) when compared with others, we felt that we would be getting value for money. We were pleased for the first… Read more
couple of years - the machine was wonderfully quiet, cleaned beautifully and dried well too. The stainless steel finish started to show streaks of rusty discolouration after around 2 years of use. Since this was just an aesthetic problem, we didn't dwell too much on it.
Over the last two years, we experienced intermittent error codes ranging from E01, E02, E24, and the dreaded E15! It has now come to the stage where the dishwasher will not complete a full cycle at all without having an E15 code. This requires us to tilt the machine backwards to allow the water to drain. There are even times where the error code will appear during the first 5 minutes of the cycle! Once we clear the error and the machine turns itself off, it will turn itself back on with the E15 error flashing and the pump making a horrid, grinding vacuum sound. There have been times when the cycle has finished, but when we've opened the door, the bottom of the machine is full of dirty water. (We've always run the Finish cleaner through the machine and cleaned the filters on a monthly basis and only ever used Finish tablets as recommended in the manual.)
It's a shame to see that so many customers have experienced similar issues with this model. We're extremely disappointed with this machine.

So disappointing – We bought this dishwasher in Oct 2012. We have been a couple for most of the time we have owned the dishwasher so it gets used 2-3 times a week - not excessively. I have never been overly happy with the way it cleans saucepans (even just used and rinsed ones) so it also generally only washes plates, cups and cutlery that have all been rinsed. It… Read more
started leaking about 6 months ago and then not completing cycles in Jan 2016. The dishwasher would turn on and off all night without completing the cycle. We had a repairman in this week who advised the "motherboard" is gone and needs to be replaced. He also advised that we need to always use the hottest cycle to prevent any build up in the dishwasher. Seriously? We rinse dishes given low frequency of use, rarely wash pots, run the unit 2-3 times a week and clean the filter. If you should only be using the one setting why have the lower temp options available? Approx $650 to fix. Ridiculous and so disappointing after 3 years of low use. "You get what you pay for" - not from Bosch.

Operates OK until the 2 year warranty runs out – We initially bought this based on Bosch's reputation and the fact we had one in a previous house which was there when we bought the house and worked trouble free for 8 years when we sold the house. Got E21 errors and had the only recommended Bosch repairer come out and charge us $380 for the pleasure. Less than 6 months later - same issue - Ring… Read more
the repairer and they tell me that parts (being the water pump) only have a 3 month warranty (what !!!!!!) and that it would cost $390 to replace. Thinking that I would rather put that not a new dishwasher - not of the Bosch variety. have now de-installed it and investigating other options. What a dissapointment.

Not up to Bosch standard – We had previously had a Bosch dishwasher and been very happy so naturally bought another when we moved house. The result has been disappointing. It has never washed especially well and has never dried well. We've had a bunch of E08 error codes (blockage) and have now got persistent E09. I doubt we will bother having it repaired. I rang Bosch… Read more
early on but their strategy is very clever (1) invest a whole lot of energy in to apologizing and empathising "We are so sorry to hear you aren't satisfied. It must be very frustrating. (2) tell you that the machine is a very good one and that they haven't been experiencing complaints ( read below - I don't think so) and (3) make it virtually impossible to get sorted "someone can come between 8 and 1". Can you take a day off work everytime an alliance fails? So (4) do nothing.
The net result is that I'm looking at an Asko. I hear they are very good and that they stand behind their products.

Know better, choose better.
Great dishwasher – We bought it 2.5 years ago and it runs perfectly. It is extremely quiet, almost too quiet, can hardly hear it. We would have bought it years ago had we known how good they've become. It washes everything very clean. We can really recommend this dishwasher to anybody who is in the market for one. Show reply
Really rubbish product - extremely disappointed especially given how expensive it was – The 'washing' is pathetic - I don't think I've ever gotten a completely clean load out of it even when it was brand new. Quite often half the load has grit all over it even with rinse aid and completely cleaning the whole unit out. Its supposed to dry the dishes - about as good as a teenager on that one - never done it in its life. The other thing… Read more
is it doesn't prevent you from accidentally opening it while in operation. And guess what - if you do that accidentally (or the kids do) you need a technician to fix it. I have owned it for 3 years and I can't wait till it dies. I can't justify getting a new one yet as it cost a lot of money. It looks good. Thats it. expensive, never cleaned well, never dried at all, can be opened while in operation necessitating expensive service call. Really bad design on this last count.

Love it. Get one with a cutlery draw – I love this unit. It is so handy to have a separate drawer where you just slot the cutlery. They always are dry, so if you load them in with thought, knives in one group & spoons in another, you can empty it in 5 secs. It is a brilliant idea & I'm surprised that few other models have it. It is quiet, we put it on as we go to bed & don't hear it… Read more · 1
running.
Without a vertical cutlery basket in the middle, it is really easy to stack big plates etc. Everything comes out clean & dry. We only run a medium cycle on warm, so cheaper to get good results.
It is dead simple to use, Our kids have no problems working it when they are on "Dishwasher duty".
Unfortunate to read that that others had issues with their machines. For me it has been an absolute pleasure.
It replaced another Bosch dishwasher that was at least 18 yrs old. (came with the house). It worked fine till I broke the door while killing a mouse. (don't ask)
I've never used the "baking-sheet spray head" or "vapor barrier plate" accessories. They look like they are easy to use, but any item that big I could wash in the sink in a few mins. Cutlery Drawer is brilliant, Quiet, Easy to stack, Easy to use.
Installed for three years, and has never missed a beat – I am shocked by the number of negative reviews of this machine here! We installed a 68M05 about three years ago when our previous Dishlex "wet cupboard" finally, and mercifully, gave up the ghost. The guy who installed it (an independent contractor who didn't work for Bosch) told me "you have a good machine there", and he wasn't wrong. … Read more · 1
Perhaps there have been quality control problems as the model-line has aged, I dunno. All I know is that the machine we have in our kitchen meets the expectations I have of how an $1800 dishwasher should perform. It is rare for any item to still have food on it after a run, even on the express 45-minute cycle. The machine is very quiet and the filters are super-easy to clean.
Again, I can't speak for the customers who have had bad experiences, all I can say is that the machine I have in my kitchen does the job I expect, every time, and has never missed a beat.
Absolute rubbish total disappointment – We bought this machine thinking it was going to wash better than our previous Fisher & Paykel. No way the cheapest of the Bosch range but we thought 'German quality'. It is UTTER RUBBISH! the degree of 'recycled' water means even on intensive cycle little grains of food stick, especially to outside of glassware. Often have to re-wash items 2-3… Read more
times. Have to empty the arms (by banging on the kitchen sink) at least twice a week. Constantly running expensive wash cycles. God forbid we might think of running a 'normal' 'vario' or 'eco' cycle - not sure what they are for. And yes, we DO rinse debris off dirty dishes. I use the best ie most expensive finish quantum tablets to try to improve wash quality. I hate our dishwasher and will NOT buy Bosch again. Cutlery tray. Doesn't wash properly; always getting blocked arms; leaves debris on 'clean' items especially exterior of glassware

dud machine and company – This machine worked well for two months then error messages repeated until machine would not run at all. Didn't even finish second lot of detergent! Repairer blamed our "environment". Bosch willing to replace but months later still waiting for my delivery.
