Disappointing Quality – Over the last 40 years I have owned probably 4 or 5 Braun Shavers. I traded up to the Series 9 about 3 years ago. Shave was good to start with, but then the problems started. The shaving dust / hair falls out of the shaving head whilst shaving, leaving a mess on your shirt. I have not previously experienced this with other models. Clearly… Read more

a design fault, which you would not expect on their top of the line shaver. Now it has given up and completely died. There is no way to contact Braun directly, Shaver Shop are only interested in selling you a new one, and the repair place, was honest in their assessment and said it was not worth repairing. I expected better than 3 years from a $500 shaver. I'm really not in the mood to replace it with another Braun - loyal customer lost.

Failed after 1 year – Used shaver daily for over a year. It does an okay job. I have used much cheaper shavers and gotten the same results. It is ok to travel with if you have the space due to its large size and weight and large charge brick. This can be a problem to plug into some outlets if there isn't enough space. Unfortunately for me, mine failed after a year… Read more

and no longer holds a charge. Dealing with the service/warranty side of things hasn't been that great either.

Disappointing shaver – Purchased this Braun Series 9 shaver after doing a lot of research. I am extremely disappointed with the shaver's performance especially considering the high purchase price. It is particularly bad under my chin and throat and I have to complete my shave with a disposable razor to get a close shave. The manual recommends that you use the clean and… Read more

charge station after every third shave but the retailer I purchased this from warned that if I do this the blades will wear out quickly and I will be up for costly new blades every eighteen months. I therefore recommend that you clean the shaver under hot running water daily and only use the clean and charge station when the shaver needs recharging. Overall would not recommend to anyone with a tough beard requiring a good close shave.

Ineffective – The shaver misses so many hairs that I need to complete a shave with a disposable razor to complete the job. For a product that costs this much I would expect much better. I missed the window to return this as I kept trying to get a better shave out of it. My advice would be to try it out but if you have any doubts send it back straight away Show details

Best Electic Shaver I have purchased – I purchased the Braun Series 5 as an experiment as I wasn't entirely happy with my previous shaver. The series 5 was so much better than my previous shavers so I decided to upgrade to the series 9. The Series 9 has proved to give an even more comfortable shave and I am very happy with it . It doesn't look as flash as some other brands but in my… Read more

opinion it out performs them. The vibration from the shaver head seems to massage your skin which surprisingly makes shaving more comfortable. The head does not get hot like my previous shaver. The cutting head comes as one piece and cannot be stripped down for cleaning but washing it under the tap seems to do the job . My shaver came with the cleaning station which probably does a better job.

In summary, it is a most comfortable shaver to use and gives a reasonable shave. Replacement head is cheaper than some other brands. Good battery life. Cleaning station is easy to use and does a good job

works well but – Had it for 3 months, It works well for sensitive skin, battery life is also very good But when cleaning the head with brush the head fell 4-6 inches into a basin and cracked and warranty doesn't cover that. An expensive lesson at $75 replacement cost

Disappointed – Pretty disappointed with the shave this Braun model gave, my old Phillips sensotouch rotary does a better job, The fact I have to finish the shave off on my neck with a manual razor annoys, it does my cheeks well, but horrible with shaving my neck, I originally went into shavershop wanting a DE blade razor and the assistant blew smoke up the… Read more

butt of the Braun 9 series and the discount paired with the 60 day return policy if not satisfied,

Well, all I can say is this razor will be going back

So far great – I have had this shaver a month now and so far it has been great. You get a very close shave i found especially using the gel. I also bought the cans of lubricant they suggest and every couple of shaves just use this without the gel and still shaves nice and close. Hoping the blades will last longer that some reported on here so trying to look after them a little and shall edit how they go in the future. Great Shaver, especially for travelling.

High Ongoing Costs – Purchased one of these back in Jan 2017 after using a Panasonic for 6 years. Changed over after believing all the hype. I will admit it gives a better shave than the Panasonic, but it appears the head does not last anywhere near the length of time I got out of the Panasonic which I only had to replace twice, but the Braun head failed a few weeks… Read more

back, 8 months on from purchase. So I took it back to the shaver shop I purchased it from to get it replaced under warranty, but no, it was considered fare wear and tear and it would cost me $79 to replace, but as a special deal it was offered at $59. I continued to argue that this was still very poor and eventually it was replaced for free. the sales assistant also commented that his had done the same in a similar period, so I realise it is only a very small sample, but does this mean that over the same period, 6 years, if I can only expect approx 8 months from a head, then I will need to replace it 9 times at $79 each, a total of $711, and that still doesn't include the required cleaning station fluid containers. So think very carefully if you are looking at Braun shavers.

Waste of money – I bought this shaver its the 3rd electric shave I have had. First was a Phillips style shaver which worked well especially for trimming beard length and edges and I still use for that but the foil wasn't the best. I bought a Panasonic Wet/Dry later which worked really well as a foil shaver but ended up eventually losing the charger. Chargers cost… Read more

over $100 to buy. Thought I would invest in a Braun this time, bad choice. The edger is pretty small it does work but you end up taking quite a while to do what you want because of the size. The foil itself is pretty useless unless your doing your cheeks. Having more blades and thicker its harder to see where you are going. Under the neck area my hairs seem to lie flat a lot and it just doesn't pick them up regardless of what it claims to do. I could be done with a razor a heck of a lot faster but they irritate my neck a lot, even my older shavers didn't have this issue. Could run over the same spot 10 times burning my face with the heat of the foil and wont remove stubborn ones. Bad investment for the price. Will be sending back on the 60 day money back.

Jury Is Still Out – Finally have ventured away from Phillips for the first time in my life. Purchase the item and it seems to be working well. This was bought off EBAY from Hong Kong so the item arrived without the cleaning cartridge as it has alcohol based liquid so according tot he seller it cannot be shipped overseas. Yet they have to ship these items globally… Read more

after manufacturing. Hmmmm am i being taken for a ride here. I also see that the EBAY seller is also selling these cartridges online so they take my one out and than sell it again - awesome business model. Buyers beware - I had to pay $22 for a pack of two from the local Shaver Shop so long term this is going to get pretty expensive!

Some time you wonder why did I venture away from a known trusted brand!

Best shaver ever ? – Over the years I have used Phillips rotary, Panasonic 5 blade, earlier series Braun, have suffered periodic skin rashes and variable shave quality. This Braun is absolutely the best I have used, no rashes and consistent shaves. The closenesss of shave is better than any of the previous brands and models. It also seems, and it could be… Read more

illusionary, but the shave seems to last longer. It seems like the 5 o'clock shadow comes in in later in the day. The shaver is significantly quieter than the Panasonic 5 blade. It has a good feel in the hand and easy to use. Unlike others, such as the Panasonic (cutter and foil are separate items) the cutter, foil and head casing appear to be all in one, so replacement of these parts that wear is likely to be more expensive, but I haven't priced them. Braun suggests 15 month replacement cycle. The cleaning station does a good job of cleaning the heads, but strangely it is a manual process to activate the cleaning. It also seems to use the same cleaning cartridge from a model I had quite a few years ago. The cleaning cartridge lasts about 1 month, so it is another consumable cost to consider. So far I am exceptionally happy with this shaver and cleaning station.
