Does Bravecto prevent Giardia in dogs? I think my spaniel may have Giardia - off to the vet shortly - but she was treated with topical Bravecto only two weeks ago.

A qualified vet would be the person to ask . I have heard there is a type of Gastro which is prevalent at the moment in parts of nsw at the moment..my pooch had it around xmas time. Needed antibiotics which cleared it in a couple of days. Hope it goes well for your furry friend.

Hi Chris, I am not qualified to answer your question regarding Giardia, I suggest you consult with your vet. I really hope your dog gets well soon.

Regards, Barb.

No, it shouldn't. Many dogs in the world are on Bravecto and do not suffer at all, in fact they thrive as it helps with their coat and skin and controlling tick and flea allergies that some dogs have, along with many other things. It is better to give your dogs Bravecto as a tick and flea medication than to not give them anything at all and have them suffer through billary which is tick bite fever in dogs and have them hospitalized for that when it could have been avoided.

I have a 7 month female rescue puppy (think she's a border collie/heeler/shepherd). I noticed around her eyes started looking funny and vet confirmed it is demodectic mange and started her on a one-time dose of Bravecto with a 10-day treatment for possible staph infection. It's been 10 days and the mange has now spread farther around her eyes and now on the side of her mouth. All I can find on the internet is that her hair should grow back in 120 days, but how long will it continue to fall out (mange to spread)? Does this mean the Bravecto is not working or is it actually working and eventually the mange will stop spreading? Should I be worried? BTW, she has had no negative effects from the Bravecto.

The pup is still growing and so is the immune system. It could take a little longer for her hair to grow back. And maybe even another treatment of antibiotics. My dog had to have steroid as well as an antibiotic and bravecto to get rid of his skin infection. I gave him regular baths with a soothing mild soap as well. It took awhile for his hair to grow back. And then poof it was there one day.

Bravecto is associated with hair loss also. The vets will push to use these products but they are not safe for your pet. It seems to me that the Bravecto is also contributing to the hair loss. Try using a mild soap with natural healing products such as Neem Oil. Also put your pup on a natural diet if not already doing so and try adding some Milk Thistle to the mix to help detox. Milk thistle is great for the pups system and will cleanse it all out.

Find a homeopathic vet in your area. And feed only fresh food. I have had no skin issues with any dog since I cut all processed food out of their diets including "treats". I also no longer use any chemical flea/tick treatments & we are in high tick risk area. There is no way you can know what damage Bravecto has done or will continue to do. Plenty of information out there about all of these toxic poisons.
