Best kettle ever – Have used this kettle for at least 10yrs. With no problems. Love it. Yesterday it died and I'm going to try to get the same one again. I use the different temperatures all the time . Very handy for different types of tea and coffee. Show details
Nice looking good for 2 years maybe – I had 3 of these, had trouble with boiling not stopping for 2 minutes or more, erratic switching, base connections to jug failing, now lids all breaking up. Clear plastic lid first cracks then the sealing ring on top breaks off. Replacement lid is not available. If they break down early enough Breville do replace, but they are not built to last. Resetting BKE825 When Base Gets Wet – My temperature settings went a bit haywire after the base got accidentally wet when the overfilled kettle boiled over. The temperature settings on the base would not respond and defaulted to the lowest green tea setting when powered on. I couldn't easily find any solutions to resetting my kettle online for this model. Before contacting Breville on… Read more
1300 139 798, I experimented by holding down the Boil/Black Tea temperature button as the kettle boiled. Voila! The kettle boiled as normal and my base setting now defaults normally on my desired setting of Boil/Black Tea!
Great piece of equipment – I love the look of this kettle and the various boiling functions. It has a very easy handle to grip and pouring easier and safer.I totally recommend this product, have had ours for over a year and no issues. I would certainly purchase another if and when I need a new kettle. Show details
Looks amazing and is totally reliable – I love the look of this kettle and the various boiling functions it offers. It has a very easy handle to grip making puring much easier and safer.I totally recommend this product, have had ours for over a year and no issues. Perhaps earlier models were not as reliable? I always pour water in the spout, Im too lazy to open the lid, and its quicker...perhaps thats the trick! Show details

Rubbish – terrible. Second kettle after replacing with the same fault as the new one. Sometimes will not turn off and continues boiling. But the main problem is it keeps shutting down and requires either lifting and dropping kettle back into place or turning off at the power point and back on again. This can easily take 4 or 5 times to make it continue… Read more
boiling. Bought from Good Guys but we no longer have them within 100 Kms so stuck with it until it fails completely or my wife lets me buy a new kettle.
Top of the range but bottom of the pile – How sad to buy my mother in law a kettle for Mother’s Day - thought I would go top of the Breville range, have just come home to find the kettle with gaffa tape holding it together. Shocking quality and hard to find how to get help from breville. Crazy to think you can pay so much for a kettle and it doesn’t last a few years.. Not sure how I add a… Read more
photo but I will try later.
FYI - I have Breville ample time to resolve this issue before I published this review.
Please do not use this kettle, won't stop boiling water! – We purchased this kettle as tea lovers and did not mind spending a bit more for assumed quality. However and as many fellow reviewers here discovered, this kettle is extremely dangerous. It will not stop, once the water is boiling and to anticipate what might happen after that, would warrant immediate access to a fire extinguisher. We contacted… Read more
Breville on three occasions and received just one reply. "Kettle now out of warranty" and "Try descaling". The two other Emails were ignored. We subsequently reported this item to the ACCC and we encourage other reviewers to do the same https://www.productsafety.gov.au/contact-us/for-consumers/report-an-unsafe-product Pretentious product from a pretentious company.

Another Defective Kettle – As others have stated, our kettle has botht the issue of continually cutting out when you try to boil it, furiously, then it also refuses to turn off once its boiling and requires switching off manually. Its done this for well over a year now (and we've probably had it about two) but since I couldn't find receipt or warranty card I haven't… Read more
bothered chasing with Breville. This kettle is brilliant in theory and I love the range of temp settings for making different teas but, in practice it just falls short and is a source of daily frustration.
Sensor keep turning off – Hi there I bought this kettle with flybuys points in May, I lost the receipt and the kettle stop keep flicking off !!! Was always a problem since the beginning, it keep turning off and If I try to turn it back again It would do out again and again and again! Show details
Smart kettle, smart toaster and food processor – I have all three. I am on to my second kettle that is breaking in the same place as the first one (lid lense). The matching toaster doesn’t toast on all sides, this happen very shortly after buying it. My food processor is slowly chipping away after each use (I don’t use it much) the plastic around the blade is coming off so one day it will be a… Read more
free broken blade. These are the only breville products I own, I will not be buying this brand again. It is actually very similarly priced to kitchen aid.
Junk – I have now had two of these kettles replaced under warranty, with each having stopped working in less than two years of normal domestic use. Absolute rubbish, especially at this price point. (nb getting the replacements out of Myer was excruciatingly difficult also as the warranty is only 1 year). Show details
Ok kettle – This kettle does get the job done and heats water fairly quickly. the heating elements will start to get calcifying on it, so be sure to use filtered water to prolong the use of the kettle. It does work well, and there have been no issues with the kettle. recommended. Show details

Boils without Stopping – Purchased this Breville stainless steel kettle on its looks and broad range of options. Worked ok for a number of months but recently it does not turn off once it has boiled, presenting a potentially dangerous scenario. We will now have to replace this kettle as it is no longer under warranty. We will have to factor this in (and the limited warranty period) on any future decision to purchase another Breville kettle. Faith lost in Breville, expensive lesson learned after repeated experience – Avid tea drinker, initially happy to pay the price for a kettle I thought would meet need for preparing all tea types. However, kettle continues to boil on black tea setting (shortly after warrenty expired) so can't walk away from a boiling kettle - very dangerous, had a few near disasters. Bought another, had exactly the same experience! With no… Read more
process for compensation from Breville, have lost faith in the Breville name and am no longer willing to invest in their products.
Was good.... for as long is it worked properly. Slow to reach temperature at lower settings though – This kettle boils quickly on the 100 degree setting, and quietly if you descale the insides after a period of use. However, on the lower temperature settings it is slow to reach its temperature set point. Frustratingly though, pretty much the day it ran out of warranty it began to play up. When you press any button, another selection that you… Read more
didn't press lights up (no de-bouncing on the press buttons electronics fans). You have to keep pressing the same button until it decides to light up. A few months later it began to turn off after a few seconds, and you have to move it about on the base to get it to work. I suspect there's a problem with the contacts between the base and the kettle. Also the base is rather hot even when not in use. I really like the kettle, but was disappointed that it started to fail in such a short time.
Pretty but Crappy – We went through 2 kettles under warranty. It kept on beeping non stop and would turn on and off during boiling water. The lid crack. Internally it went black even though we clean it. Finally it died today. Really it was headache especially when you paid so much money for quality stuff. Just went to Kmart and got a cheap one instead. Show details
Beautiful but very flawed – Positives: looks fabulous and worked well for 6 months. Now very temperamental. It either keeps boiling forever or it clicks off after a few seconds. I have nurtured this over priced indulgent kettle keeping all parts clean. Not happy. Such a shoddy product has made me wary of further Breville purchases Show details
This product is OK – It does its job. I haven't tested it to extreme levels. I am happy for the purchase. Can't fault it. I like the options. It heats very quick. It doesn't trip off or has odd electrical issues which I faced with previous other brand kettles I owned. Can purchase it confidently. Show details
Breville BKE820/B kettle not a smart Purchase! – A disappointing kettle...a nice looking unit but no quality. Kettle fails to cut off every time and lid has cracked and plastic has just fallen off. I researched parts but no lids available. Altogether a poor product...not worth the money without the last. Just goes to show all that glitters is not Gold! Show details
Beautiful on the outside but horrible quality internally – I was given this as a house warming gift and we are awed by the design and its functionality. This was one of our many appliances we love to display. However, just a short 5 months in, we began to sense that the temperature sensor is failing as the boiling water seems to only occasionally switch off. This is very dangerous as it can run dry… Read more
and burn down the whole house. I tried contacting Breville service, but no one return my email or call. This is frustrating.
Stay away from Breville Not-So-Smart Kettle. It's not worth the price tag and definitely not worth burning down your house.
All the features, looks cool but poor quality and Overpriced – We have had this kettle working for about 18 months but slowly failing, it is no longer turning it's self and continues to boil. A dangerous failure. For what we paid, definitely expect a lot more. On a positive note some cool fetures and looks great. Just cheaply made. Booooo Breville!! Show details

Very poor quality kettle, think 3 times and read lots of reviews before u purchase! – Totally agree with this review. I have changed this kettle once already in a year time, then, the changed one playing up again in a year again! So this kettle's kitchen life is one a year per kettle, for that much money! So not fair. Guess the supermarket kettle would last so much longer than this one! Totally disappointed! Show details
And then the lid fell off (Beep) – They should have called it the road runner (you know.. "Meep Meep"); noisy. Ours started doing strange stuff like making sizzling noises at night, turning on/off and would only boil if you asked it nicely by pressing the button several times. Boil, press, beep, <nothing>. Boil, press beep ... thinking .. press, beep .. thinking. "Please Mr.… Read more
Kettle, just boil the god damn water!", .. beep. Eventually the plastic clear lid separated from the rest of the assembly and that was the end <beep; expletive deleted>. We used to love Breville, in fact their Dual Boiler Coffee machine is probably the finest and most prized kitchen equipment we've ever owned, but some of the other things we've bought from them like this kettle, the touch button 4-slot toaster and the latest microwave are all total rubbish - Sorry B, you've lost another customer due to your growing trend to offer low quality product, shocking reliability, and crap customer service.
Dreadful product. Waste of money – Lid has come off twice. Can't get replacement parts. Had to superglue plastic dome lid back on. Grey plastic around the dome has been disintegrating and pieces falling into the water. Found a very sharp piece in the water luckily it stayed in the pot or someone could have choked. Black decals with temperatures wipe away off, so unable to read. Would not purchase one of these again. Show details

Just wont last the distance – We had one of these kettles at home and one at work. The one at work got lots of use but after a few months it would not switch off. It was replaced under warranty. New one did the same after a couple of months. Gave up and bought a cheap one from Kmart. Now the same thing has happened to my kettle at home - warranty expired of course Show details
looks nice but unfortunately cheap parts in the lid are its weak point – within 7 months cracks started to show in the lid. i thought about taking it back but decided to wait and see... whoops. the lid has now detached and as the kettle is no longer being made there is nothing that can be done about the problem. the warranty period is 2 years and I've had mine for 2 and a half. i would expect a pricey kettle like this… Read more

Breville Temp Select BKE720CRN – The kettle is annoying. A kettle should not be annoying! I love that i can select different temperatures depending on what tea I'm drinking. I don't like that it beeps for everything, turn it on at power point BEEP, select temp BEEP, press start button BEEP, take off base BEEP, put on base BEEP. I don't mind the 3 beeps when its finished… Read more
boiling, that is good, but the rest of the beeps are an unnecessary feature. To the point that I've had the kettle for a month and my husband wants me to get rid of it.
Good Jug but lid has come apart and an injury could occour – The rest of the jug is fine, the plastic lid fail and spilt hot water and very nearly scolded my son. I think this is a dangerous and should be recalled. I think this jug is very dangerous and could cause serious harm. It should be recalled immediately, before a child or an adult is hurt or maimed. Cracked glass lid – The kettle looks great but noticed that the glass lid cracks after sometime. If this glass could not withstand heat, why is this even installed? I am hoping that the lid can get replaced. Sadly the warranty has expired. I'll just have to buy a new product but probably not Breville anymore. Some other brands that gives value for my hard earned money. Show details
Looks not equal to performance or reliability. Big disappointment – Is simply false advertising to call this kettle quiet, it isn't, it's NOISY. After 5 years this top-of-the-line model is ready for the rubbish bin. Not long after purchase I found that I would have to hit the start button multiple times, as it randomly incorrectly cycled through different temp settings rather than one push to boil, that alone was… Read more
frustrating, but usually after 2 to 7 button pushes it would correctly operate. After about a year or two lid wouldn't always open. After 3 years screws holding handle fell off. I was able to fix. After 4 years 2 (of 6) very small screws in lid dislodged & would not hold. Today after 5 years all of the plastic that the screws screw into on the lid cracked and failed. Sadly Breville don't stock parts for their kettles. So you buy an expensive kettle from Breville & they're not interested in you after the warranty period. Why would anyone buy an expensive kettle anymore? It's not worth it. I try to support Australian Owned manufacturers, but I'll look at other brands & a cheaper kettle. Not happy Breville.
Cracked Then Lid Fell Apart – Kettle was working fine but soon after warranty expired a small crack started to appear in the lid. Kept an eye on it and another small crack started on the opposite side. Both cracks suddenly got worse, then the whole lid fell apart from the inside. Not fit for purpose, not even four years old. A supposedly quality kettle should last much longer than this. Show details

Plastic parts let this kettle down badly – I love this kettle. My daughter daughter also has one but we use ours a LOT more than she does and the plastic on ours became brittle and broke off in chunks. So far I have not been able to ascertain if aI can get a replacement lid. Everything else works fine. Show details
Poor Performer – Looks good in the kitchen, but is a poor performer. Does not cut off on the tea button and cuts in and out on the coffee button. Will go back to a cheapy - at least I wont have high expectations and might get more for my money as has happened in the past.

Great the first year, then epic fail – This kettle worked perfectly for the first 12-14 months. Now takes 12 goes to get it to boil, then turning off throughout the cycle. $12 kettle would of lasted longer. Poor product from breville. There toaster did the same thing (same type of design), won't go through a whole cycle without stopping. Must be the type of design does not last.
